Haven't actually posted in a while. A few stories, but not an actual let's just leave this up for people to see post. And here is the reason why. I lost my best friend, my training partner, and the dog who taught me so much on Mother's Day 2023. To be honest, I've been lost without her. I lost confidence in my dog training skills. I don't know what made Mohnkee bombproof, but she was that dog. I could introduce her to any dog, and she would let me know what they needed. Countless dogs have worked with her, and she'd just sit, look at me, as if to say, you ready. I still mourn her, but know it was her time. Not a lot of dogs make it to 15. I was blessed. Barkus is coming, and I'll be posting more with Barbie, but I needed to let Mohnkee have her moment. Love you, my Rowdy Girl. 1st pic was the day I brought her home. 2nd pic was our last day.

Great day for a festival. Great day for beignets. Thanks to all the wonderful vendors being a part of me gaining 15 lbs today.

11 years ago I brought home this rowdy mama. She's been there for a lot of dogs. She still works, but let's her sister Barbie take on the heavy work load now. She knows when she is needed, and still answers the call at 14 years old.

Queen Barbie XXII had a great Barkus. Here she is overlooking her royal subjects from the Barkus Museum at the Mary's Ace Hardware Store on Rampart. We are going through so many photos. We want to send special thanks to for designing Barbie's costume this year. And we could not have done our Barkingham Palace without our ride or die who always comes through year after year.. Feel like we gotta start some brewery classes again.

Not the Breed took Willie and some of our training classmates to the Wrong Iron today. Good times were had by all pups as the USWNT won the FIFA Women's World Cup.

A big part of my heart is German Shepherd. When these two came in to my life, I gave them a piece, and they took a part of mine when they left. Ysa (left 2012) and Roux (right 2020). They passed May 25 and 26th, 8 years apart. Still think about them everyday.

Not the Breed Training had the opportunity to have Breezy over at our house for a few days to see if we could help her break out of her shell and overcome her fear of new people. The good news is she started warming up with everyone in our household. She is super sweet, and just needs a home that understands she will need some time to warm up to you. Due to her anxiety, she can't attend adoption events, so we said we would help share her story. Her fear and anxiety does not display as aggression, and she loves other dogs. If you know someone looking to make her life complete, please share. We will teach you how to work with her.

10 years ago I officially adopted Mohnkee. At that time, she was a rambunctious, almost 3 year old sweet dog that needed some guidance. I brought her home to my Ysa and Petey. Everyday she learned. Trainers often talk about their bombproof dog. The dog they can put in any situation and feel comfortable. Mohnkee is that dog. I can't even count how many dogs she's worked with at my house or externally. From puppies to adult dogs with aggression issues. She calms them all down. At 13, I know she will still help me out, but I'm also letting her go in to semi retirement. Although before she does that she needs to teach the ropes to a new dog. Happy Gotcha Day my Rowdy Girl! She was what I needed at that time, and every day when I look at her, I hope I am all that I promised when I gave her my grey sweatshirt in that kennel, and said get used to that scent...because you're coming home with me.
