Emergency veterinary care for dogs and cats 24/7, 365. Emergency Care: We are staffed to deal with emergencies 24/7, 365 days a year.
(207)

Appointments: We operate on an emergency basis as the patient is admitted into the hospital. Life-threatening issues are seen by the attending veterinarians before stable patients are seen. Patient Arrival Policy: For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leas
h and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms. All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash.

☀️ With temperatures on the rise, it's time for our annual heatstroke and exhaustion reminder. Once summer is in full swing, we see A LOT of heatstroke cases.
Please share this image so pet parents everywhere can be educated on the signs and symptoms. Help us keep our community's pets cool, happy, and out of the hospital this summer! 🐶 ❄️
Thank you for trusting us to care for your babies. 🐶 🐶
🔺 IMPORTANT REMINDER 🔺
If your pet experiences noise sensitivity or fireworks anxiety, now is the time to talk to your regular veterinarian about medications and supplements to help your pets stay calm during any fireworks on the 4th of July.

It’s that time of year where summer BBQ grilling is a popular way to cook your food. 🍔 🔥
It can be hard to resist your pet’s begging eyes, but keep in mind some common foods can be harmful for them. Meat bones and corn on the cobb can damage and create food blockages in their system. Onions, garlic, avocados, and some fruits can be toxic. ❌ If you must give in to their pleas, stick to a small portion of lean, well-cooked meat.
We're here for you 24/7 for pet emergencies!

🧡 Look at this sweet face 🧡
Cooper came to us after eating a large amount of gum that contained Xylitol.
Xylitol is extremely toxic to dogs and can cause hypoglycemia, seizures, liver failure and can sometimes, if left untreated, be fatal.
Because Cooper’s parents were fast acting, Cooper was able to receive the care he needed to make a full recovery. 🏥 🐶 ❤️

❤️ BEAU ❤️
This sweet boy was brought in after his owner witnessed a copperhead bite Beau on his head! Copperhead bites are serious and require immediate treatment, luckily Beau's owner was able to get him to us quickly. Beau received treatment, which included antivenin, and was able to return home the next day.

The last Friday of May is National Heat Awareness Day, especially important here in Texas!
🌡️ Be aware of hot pavement! If it is too hot for your feet, it is too hot for their paws.
💦 Play in the water. Sprinkler, kiddie pool, visit to the river.... let pups splash around.
🚰 Stay hydrated. Bring a bowl and extra water everywhere you go. Make sure your pets always have access to drinking water, and stay in front of dehydration.
🚗 Never leave your pet in the car on a hot day.
😰 Know the signs of overheating. Excessive / heavy panting, vomiting, diarrhea, dry or red gums, unsteadiness, or even generally abnormal behavior.
Keep you pets safe by staying ahead of the hot weather this summer.
Collin County, Meet Beatrice ❤️ ❤️
Beatrice came to us because she was vomiting and having bloody diarrhea.
She was diagnosed with Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis (HGE) also known as Acute Hemorrhagic Diarrhea Syndrome (AHDS). This can show up suddenly, with some symptoms being diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, and loss of appetite. While this is a treatable illness it can quickly become severe. It is important to have your pet seen as soon as possible if you notice these symptoms.
Beatrice made a full recovery and is at home reunited with her family.

Gearing up for a marathon of spring cleaning? 🧹 Before you start, be sure to know which cleaners are toxic to your pets. Unfortunately, many of the most common products include ingredients that may be harmful to both dogs and cats, even those that are marketed as green or natural. ☣️ Watch out for these chemical ingredients: • Chlorine (Bleach): Pets breathe faster than we do, which means more toxins are absorbed into their system. Though naturally occurring, chlorine in high concentrations can be deadly to pets. • Ammonia: Found commonly in oven cleaners, window cleaners, floor waxes, and fertilizers – often as ammonium hydroxide. Exposure may cause severe damage to eyes, skin, stomach, and even death. • Glycol Ethers: These chemicals are known to cause various cancers in lab rats, as well as birth defects, delayed development, and other effects, such as anemia, eye and nose irritation, and weight loss. Commonly listed as 2-Methoxyethanol, 2-Ethoxyethanol, and 2-Butoxyethanol. • Formaldehyde: Exposure usually comes from inhalation, though can also be absorbed through skin. It doesn’t have to be listed on your cleaner ingredient list, other names for formaldehyde include: formalin, formic aldehyde, methanediol, methanol, methyl aldehyde, methylene glycol, and methylene oxide. • Phthalates: Since hormones control so much more than just reproduction in your pet’s system (and yours), phthalates have been linked to indirect symptoms such as weight gain, cancers, and developmental delays. You’ve probably heard of the commonly known phthalate, BPA, but there are many more.
March is National Pet Poison Prevention Awareness Month! We’ll be sharing several tips over the next few weeks to inform you about the potential dangers of pet poisonings and how to prevent them. ☣️🐾 In the event of a poisoning or toxin exposure, quick action and expert advice are critical! We recommend you save numbers and addresses in your phone for your veterinarian, your nearest emergency animal hospital, and a poison control hotline. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center is staffed by board-certified veterinary toxicologists and specialist technicians and are available every day 24/7. They can be reached at 1.888.426.4435.
