I got contacted and interviewed by Jay Horton to be included in the Best Of Portland edition of the WWeek earlier this month! This just popped up. Yay!
I'm happy to disclose that I'm in my 50's and Pals Mushrooms will def be offering lots of different kinds of mushrooms soon! The pic is of Kris Young and he's with his younger sister Leia at the St Johns Farmers Market. Kris is the fellow who headed up the purchase of the biz and who's committed to it's success along with the rest of the team.
Excited and honored that Pals Mushrooms is being celebrated and am humbled to have a light shown on my efforts to build this company up. So excited, pals!!! Today is momentous...the sale if the biz is real as of today! The collective is activated! Kris is the person who suggested that I stay involved and who has been responsible for finding most of the killer crew who are now all invested in Pals Mushrooms. He is a visionary and hard working businessman who has been working towards his goal of having a mushroom farm for years. Sustainability and feeding the people are all priorities. I couldn't be happier! I start driving east tomorrow...my time in Portland is done. I'll be connecting thru social media and updating the website from afar. So thrilled to introduce you! Oh....can't forget to introduce the old schooler! Rolf has been at the farm longer than anyone but me at this point. I could not have made it without him. So very happy he is in for the long haul! While in the past this business has felt like my ship, with me as the captain, I've considered him my chief engineer. He's got a wonderful brain filled with imagination and the skills to make his ideas come to life. We are almost at the moment when I step away as I relocate and the new crew takes over. Glad he's here to help to anchor everyone and show them the ropes! ers

Hey pals! I've just about introduced you to all of the new farm crew members but there is one more very important fellow left for you to meet! Aaleron has been obsessed with mushrooms for decades and has a ton of hands on experience cultivating and also foraging for mushrooms. He's our new operations manager and is spearheading future research and development and the new varieties that will be coming soon are his special project! Everyone should be very excited for the future of Pals Mushrooms. He feels like he's been gearing up his whole life for this opportunity! Exciting news to report!!

Global Pandemic 2020 Update From The Farm-Don't Panic!

Stay clean, be calm, don't be a vector, be a protector.

The Pals Mushrooms crew is committed to continuing to grow this nutritious and beneficial food during this unprecedented time. As long as we're healthy(and we're doing everything to maintain our pristine conditions and are practicing social distancing to ensure good health) we are going to deliver to folks quarantined for as long as we can. There will be no need to be face to face as I can make the drop off on your porch or other designated place and you can leave cash or we also take payment via [email protected] on Google Pay and Paypal. Pals is also all about the barter system and will trade for goods and services. If you are hungry and cannot pay but need to eat we will help you as we can. Everyone needs to eat and we are committed to producing delicious oyster mushrooms to feed as many as we can. Oyster mushrooms are incredibly nutritious and beneficial and even have antiviral properties, which is very helpful right now!

Addressing the fundamental need of having access to good food in unsteady times is what we are all about.

In addition to oyster mushrooms we also have mushroom kits/mulch available for folks so you can not only grow your own mushrooms at home but when used like mulch the mycelim colonized straw will have a huge positive impact on the quality of your soil and the bounty of your garden. Order some and get growing at home today!!

We are also helping to connect folks to Tim's Urban Bees Raw Local Honey, produced right here on the grounds at Green Anchors in our remediated pollinator garden. The garden was built on years of donated mushroom mulch and the bees are one of the healthiest hives in town!
