Maddie came to our Rehab and Conditioning Department to help with some weakness and pain in her back legs. In combination with medications provided by her family veterinarian, she is less painful and doing great at home!
The cutest cat in our rehab and conditioning department, Miss Maddie J!
Moose, raise'n up to the challenge!
Rehab patient, Finn, loves doing his exercises with his friends (vet techs) in our rehabilitation and conditioning department.
Today the Round Rock Police Department had to say goodbye to a loyal service dog named Dega. The entire department showed up to pay respect and honor her for her years of exceptional service.
We are truly honored to be apart of such a touching ceremony.

Belle's final strut in the water treadmill
Today is Belle's last day in rehab and conditioning. We will miss seeing this cutie but we are so happy she's made a great recovery!
Barney, one of our sweetest and softest patients, first came to see us with a knee injury. Dr. Bevan performed a TPLO (tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy) and a MPL (Medial patellar luxation) surgery to stabilize Barney's stifle joint and knee cap. Barney now joins us in rehab and conditioning to regain strength and function.
Hope Needs a Fur-ever Home!
Rehabilitation patient Hope, a golden retriever mix, is looking for a fur-ever home. Camo Rescue recently pulled Hope from a shelter in Galveston. She was hit by a car and surrendered there by a good samaritan. There is a lot of *hope* for this sweet puppy. She joined us in rehabilitation and conditioning to regain function of her rear limbs. You can see how great she is already doing with our water treadmill exercise!

Clementina and Wookie Training
Every spring Central Texas Veterinary Specialty Hospital participates in the Mighty Texas Dog Walk, which supports programs like Service Dogs, Inc. This is a loving story about what Service Dogs Inc. has provided for Clementina and Wooke!
Clementina, a retired grandmother, has been completely deaf her whole life. Service Dogs, Inc adopted Wookie, a Dachshund /Terrier mix, from the Houston Humane Society and trained Wookie to work solely from hand signal cues. Trainer extraordinaire Sarah Bond, taught Clementina to use the clicker to let Wookie know that he did something right and was about to get a reward. Clementina communicated that she was impressed by how much Wookie knew from the start. Wookie alerts Clementina to visitors at the front door. Wookie also helps keep her safe when she takes neighborhood walks, a pastime she loves. Now she feels much safer because Wookie alerts her to cars, bicyclists and other people around her as she strolls. Both Clementina and Wookie have happy upbeat personalities. They took to each other immediately!
