Forgotten Dogs Rescue is a foster based nonprofit rescuing homeless dogs in Washington State.

Forgotten Dogs is a foster home based rescue organization located in the Tri-Cities and Seattle areas of Washington State. While Forgotten Dogs will take in any breed, we primarily rescue Pit Bull type dogs and mixes and other bully breeds. We focus on rescuing dogs from shelters, especially in Eastern Washington.

We save the dogs that need help the most, the dogs whose time has run out, the d

ogs who have lost all hope—the forgotten dogs. Our Commitment
Once a dog enters the Forgotten Dogs Rescue program, we are committed to it for life. Our dogs live in private foster homes where they receive love, training, and learn to be members of the family. They receive all necessary medical care, and if they come to us with behavioral issues, we invest in training. We are committed to do whatever is necessary to help them become adoptable and find them amazing forever homes. And if at any point an adoption doesn’t work out, we will always welcome the dog back into our program. We make a promise to all of our dogs that they will never again be forgotten.

Hello gorgeous! 👀 Denis Leary is workin' it! This little squishy nugget continues to defy the odds and is living his best life!

Denis has multiple heart issues that are severe and untreatable so he is one of our sanctuary pups. ❤ He will be with us for as long as he is healthy and happy! We are, of course, working closely with his team of cardiologists and medical team to keep him healthy and so far, so good! He has shown some slight improvement with some medication changes recently and is able to go for some wonderful sniff and strolls. Life your best life, Denis! We❤you, forever!

Our Halloween Litter puppies are settling into their foster homes! Before coming to us, they had limited socialization and exposure, so their fosters are helping them adjust to indoor living, basic handling, and discovering all the joys of a happy life. Huge thanks to our wonderful foster families! And, thank you to everyone who donated to name the pups!

Surprise, surprise! We got DNA results for Sage from our Herb Litter, and wow—who would have guessed? Sage turned out to be 55% pittie and only 2% dachshund! We sure didn’t see that coming! And, what a unique mix of breeds!

While Sage has already found his forever home (yay!), his littermates Oregano, Thyme, and Rosemary are still waiting for theirs. Juniper is still healing from her broken leg. She has a bit of a reprieve from the dreaded cone as we figure out next steps but, there is a chance she will need another surgery and we will be talking to her surgery team at WSU Vet Hospital this week. Oof. In the meantime, she is hanging with her BFF, Alpine, and loving life! She is such a peach of a pup!

Same, buddy, same. 😢 Our sweet Rufio ended up in the hospital on Wednesday where they discovered he had a stomach ulcer that had perforated his GI, he was septic and, unfortunately, he required emergency surgery on Thursday. He’s still in the hospital and stable but he isn’t eating yet and he has developed pneumonia so it is still day by day for him. Of course, he is getting everything he needs at Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle and we sure hope he feels better today and can come home soon.

His foster went to visit him yesterday and he saw some good tail wags, which was encouraging. But, we want him eating and home!

One of Ferdinand's most favorite places to walk is the cemetery! 👻 Ferdi is dog reactive on walks and, while we are working on that with him with lots of chicken, the cemetery is so quiet and calm and the grass is awesome! He loves it!

A few days ago, we posted about these seven adorable pups in need of foster homes, and we’re thrilled to share that they are currently on their way to waiting foster families! However, we still need two more fosters in the Tri-Cities or greater Seattle area so the pups can be separated and receive individual attention and socialization. These 4.5-month-old pittie mixes are full of personality, and as a foster, you’ll receive everything you need to care for them, including food, supplies, vet care, and training support. Our littlest pupper, Smudge, is home and healing up from his surgery to repair his broken legs. Hooray!! The surgery was successful and now he just needs to relax and let his bones heal. He is due for weekly bandage changes over the next few weeks and some follow up X-rays to see how things are going. So far, so good!!

Thank you everyone who had donated to Smudge’s care so far! We’ve had some HUGE medical bills this week so we could use all the help you can spare! One of our other pups needed emergency surgery yesterday and will likely need to be in the hospital for a few days. Poor kiddos! Glad we could help them but we need YOU!!

Say hello to Smudge! This tiny 10 week old pup came to us after we were contacted by that he needed our help. Smudge came to us with two broken front legs, ouch! Luckily, our friends at could get him in right away so we brought him to them yesterday and, after getting bloodwork and x-rays, he had surgery today and is doing great!

We expect him to be able to come home later this week and we can’t wait to get to know this little guy more. We know he is a super snuggler, that is for sure, preferring to live in everyone’s lap! We have heard people think he is either a Pomeranian or a long haired Chihuahua, what do you think? He is about 10 pounds! So little!

Officially introducing Bosworth! This charming boy was found abandoned in Eastern WA, and we first shared his story while looking for a foster home. But as we were searching, Bosworth developed a sudden head tilt and became unsteady on his feet. We jumped into action, getting him to our primary vet and luckily securing a safe spot for him to stay. It turns out Bosworth is a senior gentleman, around 10 years old. Despite the head tilt and some dental issues, he was found to be in pretty good health overall!

After a thorough assessment and CT scan by the neurology team at Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle, it was confirmed that Bosworth likely has idiopathic geriatric vestibular syndrome. This means there’s no clear cause for his symptoms, and while the head tilt might improve with time, it may also stay with him as part of his charm. The good news? There’s nothing more serious going on!

Unfortunately, Bosworth does need significant dental work due to dental disease and broken teeth. The CT scan even showed changes to his jaw from the dental issues! 😢 But don’t worry—we’re getting that taken care of right away so he can feel his best!

This sweet boy steals hearts everywhere he goes. He loves snuggling in laps, giving kisses, and making friends with other dogs!

**FOSTER NEEDED**
Our sweet and spunky Tazzy needs a new foster home! She has a neurological condition that causes seizures and they are currently controlled with medications. She does well with other dogs and loves to play. She’ll need a tolerant companion as her medical condition causes her to be in less control of her movements and behaviors. Tazzy loves going on walks and adventures and is a sweet, confident pup!

Astrid is trying so hard to get Chloe to play! Not sure the foot punches to the face are quite the right move, Astrid. 🐶 Astrid is doing great since having her damaged leg amputated and has been going to physical therapy weekly to make sure her other three legs are as strong as possible. The M Litter is 2 1/2 Weeks Old!

When did the M Litter get so big?! Look at them! Such roly-poly’s and sooooooo cute!! 😍😍😍 The puppies are 2 ½ weeks old and are doing great! Momma Moona had some pretty significant tummy upset over the last week but is now feeling better, phew! 🐶 Thank you to everyone who donated supplies for this family through our Amazon wishlist! Astrid Update!

Go Astrid, go! Our sweet girl is now a tripod and getting stronger and stronger! 🐶 Astrid went in for her two week follow up post surgery and the fracture repair wasn’t looking good. There just wasn’t enough bone to try to fix it again and she wasn’t tolerating the antibiotics we put her on to knock out the infection either. So, not being able to fix the fracture and with the infection untreatable it was decided the best thing for her was to amputate that leg. 🐶 So far, she’s doing great and getting around better. Who We Are

Forgotten Dogs Rescue is a foster home based nonprofit rescue organization located in Washington State.

We are dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs in local shelters, given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, or in danger of abuse or neglect.

We were formed in 2011, and have foster homes in the greater Seattle area and in the Tri-Cities area.

Who We Rescue

While Forgotten Dogs will take in any breed, we primarily rescue Pit Bulls type dogs and mixes and other bully breeds. We focus on rescuing dogs from shelters, especially in Eastern Washington.

We save the dogs that need help the most, the dogs whose time has run out, the dogs who have lost all hope—the forgotten dogs.

Our Commitment

Once a dog enters the Forgotten Dogs Rescue program, we are committed to it for life. Our dogs live in private foster homes where they receive love, training, and learn to be members of the family. They receive all necessary medical care, and if they come to us with behavioral issues, we invest in training. We are committed to do whatever is necessary to help them become adoptable and find them amazing forever homes.

Our first priority is to find our dogs adoptive homes that are the best possible match for them.

And if at any point an adoption doesn’t work out, we will always welcome the dog back into our program.
