PSA:
If you are thinking about buying a Dory for your child, there are some VERY IMPORTANT facts that you should 1st consider. Dory has the potential to grow to 1 FOOT+ in length. And unlike what you may believe or have been told, she won't stay small just because she's in a small tank. Even as a 1-2" juvenile, she should be in a minimum of a 4', 75 gallon tank. At 3"s she should be upgraded to a 6' tank. And as an adult (5+ inches) she WILL require at least a 180 gallon tank to stay in good health. She is VERY EASILY stressed, which in turn makes her VERY prone to disease and parasites. She requires a healthy diet and environment to sustain her life and keep stress to a minimum. She needs LOTS of rock for hiding and LOTS of space to swim! Our Dory is easily 8"-9"s and still growing. She could very well grow another 3-4"s or more. So that cute little petite 1"-2" Dory you see in the store, can grow to be a BIG girl! Our Dory lives in an 8 foot long tank, with 240 gallons of water. That doesn't include the additional 55 gallon tank (sump/filtration system) under the cabinet that helps keep Dory's home clean. So after seeing "Finding Dory", if your child begs to have this beautiful fish, just remember, Dory isn't just "A FISH". She's a living, breathing animal and she requires just about everything your child does to survive. She eats, drinks, breathes, poops, gets scared, protects herself, socializes, ect. Please teach your kids responsibility and to respect the value of life! If you do not have experience in saltwater fish and their care or are unable to provide Dory the ecosystem she requires, PLEASE DON'T take a chance with her life! It will very likely NOT have a happy ending like the movie. If however, you are interested in getting into the saltwater aquarium hobby and would like to learn how to provide a proper home for Dory, I encourage you to visit Epic Aquaria! We are the VERY BEST at what we do and are ALWAYS happy to share our knowledge of t
