TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES!
We are currently able to receive text messages on our normal clinic number (817-220-0222), but we are unable to respond to them. I’ve been on the phone with our provider all day but they haven’t been very helpful. They say it might be a couple of weeks before our text service is fully restored! 😳 I even tried explaining how I’ve been a very good boy but I think the tech support guy is a cat person. 😔 In the meantime, feel free to call us for anything you need!

Update: it is the left front that is causing the lameness (abscess in the foot at the toe). The saying is ‘down on sound’ with front limb lameness- 80% of horse’s weight is put on front legs, so when the not hurting leg hits the ground they drop their head, then when the hurting leg hits the ground they toss their heads up to try to pull the weight off of that leg.
And Adrian is a good sport.

Stitch and Dr. Ami went to support Ebc Emmanuel’s fifth year at his store. It was amazing to see all the bully breeds and the kiddos having a great time! He puts on an amazing event for sure.

Interesting case:
Dog presented for defecation issues. Took a radiograph and found out what was wrong 😳 Uroliths that are the size of river stones. (Just pushing against colon)
Patient went to surgery and is doing great now!

Edit: Pectus carinatum (‘pigeon chest’) is defined as a protrusion abnormality of the sternum, characterized by an idiopathic overgrowth of the costal cartilages. Usually a ‘gee whiz’ and no other issues associated with this congenital defect. (Occasionally heart involved)
No tumor and no trauma and no fluid involved.

As you gather together with family and friends for Thanksgiving, football games, and holiday parties, please remember to save your aluminum and steel cans for our Cans for Cats fundraiser.

It is appreciated if you rinse out cans and remove labels, and bag aluminum and steel cans separately. NOT accepted: aluminum foil, disposable foil baking pans.

There are now two bins behind our adoption center (807 East Park, Weatherford TX), and the sign is gone, but the location is the same. THANK YOU for your support! 😻

We want to help clarify the Victor Dog Food issue that is going around, especially due to the fact that we would recommend the brand often to clients.
There is a voluntary recall on all their types of food as of now.
The only one that has caused known issues has been some of the bags of the Beef Meal and Brown Rice Formula. The known issues it has caused has been Salmonella in humans touching the food (per CDC). The Texan based company is welcoming all calls and concerns with the product. Let us know if you have any issues/concerns. We are tagging the Victor site with the information:

Answer: habronemiasis aka ‘summer sores’- lesions caused by fly larvae being deposited near the eyes and in turn making yellow/sulfur granules. It hasn’t been very prevalent as of late due to horses often being de-wormed with ivermectin.

Fun Friday case: a little late in the year, but anyone know what these little ‘stone like’ granules are/caused by in this horse’s medial canthus?
Horse is approx 6 yr old gelding that was purchased from sale pen a month ago and is not up to date on any regular or preventative medicine.

It is vet team appreciation week!!
My peeps don’t get enough credit for the behind the scenes work done on the daily. From cleaning kennels to taking radiographs, and drawing blood to monitoring patients during surgery. I couldn’t do what I love without their help!
