Thereby, we threaten our own existence.
What is mutilated - food crops that man has modified.
Heritage is best, heritage is healthy, sustainable.

Bees anxiously visiting the "bee bar" in our front yard. They are starving this time of year and eagerly seek any food source.
Bees continuously seek out fresh water, they prefer moving water.
We observe them drinking from livestock waterers, dog bowls, chicken feeders and puddles. A favorite is the drip irrigation in my neighbor's garden.
A busy hive will consume several quarts of water per day.
Some bee's entire life will be exhausted, bringing water the hive.
PLEASE - don't leave contaminated water standing out. In the end you could be the one who consumes it. We love honey.

What is honey?
It comes from bees, but how is it made?
The process is impressive. It’s amazing how much work bees have to do to make honey! When the bees extract the nectar from flowers, they store it in their bellies, also known as their crop. In their crop, the nectar mixes with their enzymes to adjust the pH and chemical composition. When the bee returns to the hive, it shares the nectar with another bee by spitting it into its mouth. The process repeats until it’s put into the honeycomb.
However, the honey in the honeycomb is not the thick, decadent honey you know and love. At this point it is still nectar. These micro chemists, also known as bees, seem to know just the perfect amount of moisture needed to convert the nectar into the luscious sweet syrup that we know as honey. This process is accomplsihed by the bees fanning their wings to evaporate the excess moisture. When the honey is just right, they then seal it in the comb with a substance known as beeswax. The honey is protected from both air and water, so it can be stored for months on end. This process is how honey is made! Pretty crazy, right?

Lemon, Ginger and Turmeric Tea

This turmeric tea with ginger and lemon is a perfect drink for warming your bones when the weather changes cold. Ginger and Turmeric are a wonderful pair and together they are an aromatic delight. Ginger root is warming and soothing and makes this tea perfect when you have a bit of a cold. Combined with lemon (also high in vitamin C, a well-known antioxidant) and Paul Farms Honey, it’s warm, soothing and just sweet enough. If you like, add coconut milk for a brew that’s similar to spiced chai.

Turmeric is a spice that most of us simply don’t get enough of. Not only does it give our favorite curries a bright color and an earthy flavor, but it offers some anti-inflammatory benefits inside and outside as well.

Ginger and Turmeric offer Benefits for the Skin

Gingerols, the oily resin of the ginger root, features potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. When topically applied, ginger can inhibit free radicals that cause skin damage and aging. It is also used to reduce the appearance of hypopigmented skin (which is light or white from loss of skin coloring, mostly caused by injury), even skin tone, and improve elasticity.

Curcumin, a chemical compound found in the turmeric plant, may help to reduce swelling and irritations in the body. It also offers quite a few wonderful benefits when used on the skin. Research is ongoing about the uses and benefits of turmeric, so in the meantime, we’ll just enjoy this ginger and turmeric tea when we’re cold in the winter!

Adapting your Turmeric Tea Recipe
Spice up this recipe or be daring and switch up the citrus. If you’re dreaming of different ways to adapt this recipe, here some ideas to make them your own:

Use orange instead of lemon
Crush a few cardamom pods and add to the brew
Add clove, cinnamon sticks, and nutmeg

INGREDIENTS
* Turmeric root
* Ginger root
* 1 tsp Paul Farms Honey
* Lemon sliced
INSTRUCTIONS
* Cut off a 1/2 inch piece of each root.
* Use a vegetable peeler to remove the skin from the root, and then thinly slice into a tall mug.
* Pour boiling hot water on top of sliced roots.
* Allow to steep for 12 minutes, no need to strain.
* Add a teaspoon of Paul Farms Honey and serve with a lemon wedge
