We will not be taking in, adopting out and boarding parrots for an undetermined length of time. We do have another rescue we can refer people to. We can do nail trims and wing trims for local parrots. We found that we need to focus our energy and time on the massive clean-up efforts. With that said, we are looking for donations of old used towels and washcloths for when we reopen. We are currently looking for the large black totes with yellow lids 30" wide by 20.5" front to back and 14" deep. We are still in need of volunteer help as well.

We are still looking for volunteers for this weekend's big clean up. Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to whenever we get tired and have to quit. You can arrive anytime between those hours and put in whatever time works for you. The weather looks to be a little cooler which is a perfect time to put in some time in at the shelter. We will have donuts for breakfast and pizza for lunch so we will need a head count of who will be joining us in the fun.

Tweety the yellow-tailed black cockatoo is mostly yellow due to a rare condition. While that has resulted in it being shunned by its kin in the wild, collectors see Tweety as a prize — and that is a problem.

UPDATE AND A CALL FOR LOCAL HELP!

We have finally tested all of the shelter birds twice, and 12 out of 15 were negative. We have moved the negative parrots and the shelter is now empty. With that said, it's time to start our major clean-up project. Top to bottom hard labor cleaning. We need volunteer help from our community to get the job done effectively and efficiently. We need help on August 9th, 10th and 11th starting at 9 am. We do not expect volunteers to show up right at 9 am but whatever schedule works for you on those dates. There will be donuts for breakfast and pizza for lunch! We will have refreshments as well! Private message us if you intend on coming so we organize the day.
Let's kick this mess to the curb and start fresh!

Now this gave us a little positive news we needed!

We had a few more birds come back as negative and 1 come back positive. We had a few that show they were exposed but far too low to call positive. We will retest those again after 60 or more days. It gets a little confusing understanding the lower levels. We hope to start to disinfect and repaint the shelter soon and would love to have some help with that in the coming weeks. We have such a hard-working board and volunteer base! We can not thank them enough! We will continue to stay strong and push forward!

We would like to acknowledge some monetary donations that came into our shelter. We thank you for your continued support.
