The Rabies Outbreak is still a huge problem!!
This is extremely serious and not a money making scheme!
Please note that in the last month we have had a positive rabies case that was from the Berea area.
Rabies is not only in "poor, rural" areas and does not only happen in stray pets!
PETS NEED TO BE VACCINATED ANNUALLY!!

Happy New Year to all our amazing Clients and their furbabies 🥳🥰
Wishing you all an absolutely incredible 2023!!

Look who came to visit us..... Lucky 🐶💕
Lucky came in to visit us all and to get his entropion surgically repaired.
An entropion is an abnormality of the eyelids in which the eyelid rolls inward. This often causes the hair on the surface of the eyelid to rub against the cornea, which results in pain and other more severe issues.
Thankfully Lucky has a great owner and this was caught early 🤗
Lucky will be as good as new after surgery ❤️🐾

We thought everyone needed to see this absolute cutie-pie!!

This baby capuchin came in to see Dr. Scholtz for a general check up at only 1 day old 🐒
Unfortunately the mother rejected the little one.
He was given the all clear and is very healthy 💕😄

We hope you all have a pawsome weekend! 🐾🌷

‼️ VERY IMPORTANT ‼️
We are seeing a frightening number of Parvo cases.
Parvo (Canine Parvovirus) is a highly contagious virus, which can be easily spread from one dog to another through direct or indirect contact of their f***s.
There is no known cure for Parvo, all we can do is treat the symptoms.
What can you do? VACCINATE YOUR PETS!!
Puppies need 3 vaccinations by 3 months of age and adult dogs need annual vaccinations.
Do not take your puppies out to public places (beaches, parks, etc.) before they have had all 3 vaccinations.
We have seen some Parvo cases that have been vaccinated, however, this was done by lay people.
Please note that if your pet is vaccinated by a lay person or someone claiming to be a professional and not an actual Veterinary professional, you cannot be sure this was done correctly!

‼️WARNING: GRAPHIC SENSITIVE CONTENT‼️

Meet Cooper 🥰🐶
Cooper came to us under very sad circumstances and ended up being surrended to us.
He had a very serious leg injury after being hit by a car.
The amazing Dr. Scholtz did a hindleg amputation on little Cooper, the surgery was really tough, especially as Cooper's injury was over a week old. We had to give him a chance though 💕
Cooper did great during his surgery and is now in recovery.
We are so happy with the progress so far and are confident that Cooper will have a happy long life 💙🐾

Little Cooper will need a forever home, please get hold of the Clinic if you have the most amazing loving home for Cooper.
We think Cooper is a Staffie x Pitbull and is about 3 months old.

If you would like to donate to Cooper's care, please use the below banking details with the reference "CooperCare":

Rabies is currently a very serious problem in South Africa, with outbreaks in animals occurring in all nine provinces. High-risk dog rabies cycles are present in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Kwa-Zulu Natal, the Eastern Cape and on the Free State-Lesotho border.

The South African Veterinary Association encourages South Afircans from all walks of life to vaccinate their dogs and cats - it is never too late to vaccinate!

Rabies kills at least one person in the world every nine minutes!
More than 59 000 people die from rabies each year and about 95% of these deaths occur in Africa and Asia, according to the World Organisation for Animal Health.
Children are often the victims of rabies.

It is critically important that every pet owner has their dogs and cats vaccinated to protect both humans and animals against rabies.
