The perfect game viewing opportunity, riding up close and personal with many of the iconic African wildlife species 🦏🦒🐘🦁 Set in the Rietspruit Game Reserve, Rhino Revolution’s mounted anti-poaching volunteer programme offers five retired racehorses, who between them won 32 races, a new lease of life. Volunteers accompany the trained anti-poaching guards to ride the reserve fences, checking for any
signs of criminal incursions, injured animals or deathly snares that are set to trap unsuspecting animals. The horses provide a holistic and quiet approach to anti-poaching work and the unique ability to traverse difficult terrain. Rhino Revolution’s mounted anti-poaching unit has proved to be a highly effective tool in helping secure the Reserve. Vast distances can be covered quietly, whilst riders enjoy an elevated field of vision, which aids in tracking and looking out for signs of criminal intent. It also offers the perfect game viewing opportunity to get up close and personal with many of the iconic species resident on the Reserve. Please bear in mind that patrols take place in a big-game reserve; riders need to be experienced and able to control a horse in a difficult situation, should the need arise. Activities -
Volunteers will help with the daily care of the horses; feeding, grooming, mucking out, turning out, and routine health care. Join the guards of the Mounted Anti-Poaching Unit for daily ridden fence line patrols
