To say I am proud of my black buddy (bam-ba-lam) is an understatement, I am blown away by what we achieved at Tycho’s second race and first race interstate in one of the toughest classes. I left for the NVSDC Classic Thursday thinking I might be able to make it into the top 5 and extremely nervous about how he would go passing a lot of dogs and to find out there was literally a lake on the 1 dog track, I had no idea if he would run through it or not. But he exceeded all expectations.
Heat 1 we were the 18th team out the start chute, passed a couple of teams with no issues and ploughed through the puddle/lake and apart from an incident near the finish with a reactive dog, I was amazed to find out we had finished Heat 1 in first place.
Heat 2 we went out the start chute first and ran our race, wasn’t quite as clean as the first day but I couldn’t ask anymore of Tycho, we both gave it our all. Unfortunately the race was cut short and we didn’t get to run the 3rd heat due to possible flooding and the entrance/exit being cut off, so we had to evacuate.
We finished the race in 2nd Place in a class of 23 and a really tough top 5 teams and I can not be any happier with that, I’m completely over the moon (get it Tycho - Joyride to the moon😄)

Thank you Vanessa Joy for entrusting me with Tycho, he continues to grow and impress me every run we do. He loves working for me and I’m so happy to watch him enjoy our time on the trails. We are definitely going to have a lot of fun together and that's the most important thing about this crazy cold, wet, muddy and early morning sport is to just have fun and enjoy every moment we have together.
Well done to all Tycho’s siblings - Vair, Nagini, CJ and Fred, they all did so well and was great to see them again and was nice to finally meet you Geoff and Mich.
Also congrats to Mum placing 2nd in 2 Dog Veteran with Charlie and Bruno.
Thanks to all my friends and camping buddies for all the laughs around the fire and an awesome weekend away! Thank you NVSDC Committee for another fun and challenging race and to all the competitors well done! Hope to see you all again soon in SA for the Wild Dog Derby and SASDC Trophy Race.
