First attempt at Tracking at Tansey. Excellent is the highest pass achievable. ⭐️🐾🏆Tracking foundation games can be incorporated into walks. Not only do they increase your dogs confidence they also tire them out (brain training) which is great if they are going home to spend the afternoon alone

Have you ever thought about Retrieving? It’s an amazing sport with lots of distance and whistle commands. The foundation training is unique to the sport. Do you have a working line dog that needs brain training? Do you have a working line dog?

Otto is a TV star, for a while anyway. The ad we filmed with Steelbridge Studios is live. Being on set was a long and busy process. Otto is a very confident, environmentally conditioned and socialised dog and needed to be. This ad took over 50 people and 2 days to make!

Getting a new puppy? Here is a starting checklist for Socialisation. And DO NOT wait till after the vaccination schedule is complete! Time is critical and limited for this window to be utilised Be creative! Keep the pup off the ground if it might be contaminated by unvaccinated dogs. Visit or be visited by adult, fully vaccinated dogs; go out in the car, day and night, school pick up, through the car wash. Carry your pup to cafes, down the street garbage truck day; try very early morning beach trips after high tide and look out for paw prints and be ready to leave if necessary.

Did I mention our Dog Wedding Chaperone service? Pick up and drop off including, some quick brain training, a sniffy walk and toilet break before the big event. Cute outfit and guest greeting is optional, but highly recommended. We can even recommend a fabulous overnight accommodation at Wurtulla if required.

So while training some new recruits in scent work at the club, I was amazed that most weren’t using a ‘bridge word’, also known as a marker. A bridge is a short word used to mark the exact moment a dog successfully completes a commanded behaviour.
It tells the dog, “Yes, you got that right! That’s what I’m after from you”.
It also signals to the dog that a reward is coming, hence it’s the bridge between the goal response or approximation from the dog and the reward from you. Good timing makes it easier for the dog to work out what you want and using a bridge word will lead to less confusion for your dog!
