โโ TICKS โโ
Although spring/summer is considered tick season, our pets can still get paralysis ticks in winter. This morning we removed this adult Ixodes Holocyclus, the tick species responsible for paralysis, from a local cat. This is not the first tick we have seen recently and we urge all pet owners to remain vigilant and protect their pets year round.
Paralysis ticks can be deadly to our beloved pets. Paralysis tick symptoms are most commonly:
๐น Change in bark or meow
๐น Wobbly back legs
๐น Trouble breathing
๐น Loss of appetite
๐น Coughing, retching or vomiting
๐น Excessive salivation
If you notice these symptoms or you find a tick on your pet you should call your vet immediately.
The best way to prevent tick paralysis is to keep up to date with an effective preventative.
