Due to the recent weather conditions and with closure of the ferries, unfortunately the Normanhurst Vet Practice Team are unable to be transported to Dangar Island today.
Whilst it saddens us that we are unable to be there today, we look forward to rescheduling to Tuesday the 30th of April.

As it is getting cooler, the month of July we will be focusing on our senior patients.
Did you know that it is estimated that 40% of our pets are suffering with Osteoarthritis?

What is arthritis?
- There are many different types of arthritis, but the most common is osteoarthritis,
essentially the same chronic condition that humans suffer from.
- Healthy joints are covered by cartilage, a rubbery material that creates a cushion between the bones and provides a smooth surface for movement.
- When arthritis occurs, this cartilage breaks down, causing swelling, stiffness, movement problems and increasing pain, which steadily spreads throughout the body.
- Arthritis is normally found in older dogs, although it can affect youngsters too.
-It’s usually caused by natural wear and tear of the joints, but can also be linked to injuries, as well as joint abnormalities such as hip dysplasia.

Signs of arthritis can be:
- Stiffness
- Reluctant to jump up onto furniture or stairs
- Lameness, limping or hobbling
- Slow on walks
- Change in body position when sitting, walking or laying.
- Sleeping more than usual
- takes longer to get out of bed.

Hello Community,
The news is out, Normanhurst Vet Practice has officially grown. Dr Matt McLennan is the proud new owner of Cherrybrook Vet Practice.
To celebrate the collaboration of Normanhurst Vet Practice and Cherrybrook Vet Practice we will be hosting a few competitions this month.
The first of which is a colouring in competition. Simply pop in to either of our practices and pick up an entry picture and drop it back by the 27th of June.
Winners will be announced on the 29th of June.
We wish all our budding artist the best of luck.

Kye is one of our beautiful little patients that recently has had TPLO surgery performed on his knee to fix cranial cruciate ligament rupture. Before surgery Kye was struggling to walk, constantly sore and very sad. After the recovery period he is back to normal; running around and enjoying life again.

TPLO surgery is the surgery of choice to fix cruciate ligament tears in dogs and consistently leads to the best outcomes. Our team at Normanhurst Vet Practice are highly experienced and skilled in TPLO surgery; as well as a whole range of other orthopaedic services including patellar luxation, fracture repairs, joint fusions and more.

🐾 Mia 953010006169663 is a 6 month old black and white female. This playful kitten would thrive in a house with other animals and kids. She loves to play with her friends and enjoys to snuggle at nap time.

🐾 Serrano 953010006388178 is a 5 month old female grey and silver tabby. This exotic beauty loves attention and will make a beautiful lap cat.

🐾 Bobby - female Calico is 9 weeks old. Being the only female amongst her 3 other brothers, you can tell who is boss in this family. She loves play time and getting cuddles before her brothers.

🐾 Dale - Tabby male is 9 weeks old. He is the model of the family. He loves posing when the paparazzi snap his pic.

🐾 Dean Jones - Black and White male is 9 weeks old. Being the smallest of the bunch, this quick ninja is full of playfulness and will keep you entertained for hours.

🐾 Kurt - Black and White male is 9 weeks old. This gentle giant loves his food followed by a big snuggle.
