🔹 Pet Grief and Loss Counselling

🔹 Unanderra Vets is proud to have one of our nurses/practice manager, Melinda who now offers a specialised Counselling service for Pet Grief & Loss. Melinda has a history of Counselling in the human field but has recently completed some further training to specify her expertise to the animal world as this is unfortunately a very sad part of our occupation. If you, or someone you know, is struggling to come to terms with the loss of a pet, please call to enquire.

It’s never easy to say goodbye to your pet. For many people, the passing of their beloved pet is like the loss of a family member. It can be one of the most difficult times in your life. It may take weeks or months come to terms with your loss and it’s important to remember that there is no right or wrong way to grieve and there is no time limit. You may go through different stages at different times and it’s important to be kind and patient with yourself as you work through these.

TICK SEASON
With the humid weather we are experiencing in the Illawarra, we’d like to remind everyone to make sure their pets flea and tick prevention is up to date 🐶🐱
We also recommend checking your pets regularly if they are walking through long grass or bush areas 🐾
If you have any questions about how to protect your animals from nasty parasites, feel free to contact the clinic and speak to our friendly team 😄

Introducing Dr Dennis! 🐾
Dennis has been a veterinarian for 8 years, he is an all rounder but his main interests are in surgery, cardiology and dermatology. He has a border collie called Fly and two cats called Cheddar and Roger 🐱🐶
We are so happy to have Dennis on our team and cannot wait for our clients to meet him 😊

As many of you may already know, we are very excited to introduce the newest member of the Unanderra Vet Hospital family.

Kayt, our wonderful and longest standing nurse, welcomed a beautiful baby boy called Noah on 26.2.2023. 👶 💙

Both mum and bub are doing very well and we can't wait to welcome Kayt back from maternity leave in a few months! 💕

With the warm weather approaching ☀️, now is a great time to make sure your pets are up to date with their flea and tick prevention! 🐶🐱

Tick prevention is especially important this year as there is a nationwide shortage of tick antitoxin‼️, meaning if your pet gets tick paralysis they may not be able to be treated. 🥺

Other important things to do to ensure your pet is safe are:
✔️- do daily tick checks
✔️- give their tick prevention on time and correctly
✔️- stay out of long grass
