SandPiper Equestrian

SandPiper Equestrian SandPiper Equestrian is a small equestrian team that provides a high degree of individual attention in a goal focused performance environment.
(1)

Coach, Lindsay Acheson, has completed her EC level 1, her masters in physiotherapy, as well as an undergrad degree focusing on exercise science, coaching and sports psychology. This training uniquely positions Lindsay to use a science based system to help the horse/rider team to achieve their goals. Lindsay has also developed all her own horses and multiple client horses from ground work up and is

able to assist her students with the same. Horse care is of the utmost importance to Sandpiper. Horses are treated as the equine athletes that they are, and are provided with stretching programs, massage, chiropractics and optimal nutrition. The love and respect for the horse is the primary driver why we all are equestrians. If you are interested in developing your partnership with your horse, whether you have competitive goals or just a desire to improve your skill set, please contact us for further information. If you have a horse you would like basic or further training, please contact us for details.

And the proof. All taken today. Our show horses and pasture pets all get to live in the healthiest manner possible for horses. I feel it’s the least we can do.

Can we all just tip our hats to this SandPiper rider? Jordan started with Sandpiper 4 summers ago. At that time she had never jumped a round over 1.0m. Since then this girl has been GRINDING! While finishing her university degree and working full time she has developed her mare Quantum WF from her very first show at 0.7m to her first 1.20m (and a clear round at that). Very proud coach!
Thank you to Woodlawn Farms for breeding another superstar. Thank you to vet Hailey Flemming for selling us this awesome mare.

Sandpiper equestrian has room for a couple new students. I have been certified with NCCP for well over decade, have an undergraduate degree in phys. Ed. with a minor in coaching and is licensed through equine Canada. I also a have a masters in physiotherapy that greatly informs my instruction.
We are the right fit for someone that is genuinely motivated to improve regardless if they are interested in showing or not. Our group is highly supportive and we’re really not interested in adding any drama.
If you’re interested, pm me.

Welcome to the team little Tajina! This drop dead gorgeous little lady was BC open foal champion at the CWBHA inspection last year. Very excited to pick her up and meet her in person.
Thanks again to Lindsay Wendt of Sun Meadows Equestrian. I believe this is the 7th horse a Sandpiper equestrian team member has purchased through Lindsay. She is salt of the earth !

Two weeks ago I laid my best friend and constant companion to rest.
Piper joined me in this life when he was 4 and I was 14. That’s 26 years together. 26 years.

Anyone who has met me, even briefly, knows I love Piper. Body and soul. Piper gave me more than I could ever deserve or earn.
He was fiercely opinionated and loyal. He would clearly, obviously communicate in each moment. Whether he was physically directing my scratches, nipping me to hurry up, pawing or giving me the most beautiful hello nicker. You always knew what Piper wanted.

Piper would put his chin on my shoulder and wander around the arena, his breath swooshing my hair and ear. Sometimes he would gently bite my hair bun and hold on as we walked around.
Piper would play chase with me. Spins, rears, twists, big kicks and bucks.

Piper gave me wings. An Anglo-Arab bought for $2000 that competed to 1.30m on the A-circuit. He had a heart the size of Texas.

Piper somehow knew when you were helping him. When he was injured or hurt, he would stand stoically and still, allowing me to clean, treat and care for even the most painful injuries.

When Piper was ready to jump smaller jumps, he decided to teach and protect a series of kids and nervous adult riders. He gave them their confidence, gave them wings as well.

These last 6 years Piper has been living in my backyard. We bought this place in large part to give Piper the retirement home he deserves. He’s lived in a large pasture with a group of buddies this whole time. In thelast year he got his very own yearling and grandad Piper protected her fiercely and loved her as a grandad does.

In the last 6 months, I’ve been taking him out of his pasture to feed him twice a day every day. Because he shares with his yearling, he wouldn’t have gotten enough otherwise. The positive of this was a great deal of time together. I miss this routine and act of service like a hole in my chest.

I miss him. I miss worrying about his blankets and mixing his supplements. I miss his warm fur in the sunlight, how his star was slightly fluffier than the rest of his face. I miss his super sized personality, bossing me around.
I miss knowing he’s there, waiting for me with a nicker.
