Today is World Veterinary Day!
Veterinarians are an essential role in your pets life. On this special day, why not raise a paw, hoof or claw to say thank you to the local veterinarians and their staff! Remember, veterinarians are those who help protect and safeguard those who cannot speak for themselves, so be sure to remember how much they mean to the life of a pet! Thank you to our doctors at BAH, we appreciate everything you do for our patients.

It is that time again folks!

The sunshine and warmth brings us all such great serotonin, but unfortunately also bring the ticks, fleas and mosquitos, EW!
Below are some tips and tricks on how to keep your pet safe from these nasty little critters as well as how to provide ongoing treatment.

Can anyone guess how many babies a tick can have during one life time? Ok, I will give you one hint.. It is way more then you would think!

After March 15th, we will be starting our annual heartworm testing. Please give us a call to book your pet in and keep them protected this summer.

Here at BAH we practice medicine in a fear free way, providing your pet the steps for success while at the clinic. Some of our patients prefer their treatments done in the open space of our lobby and that’s okay too. Arson is enjoying her pup cup after an injection!

Adopt a senior pet month is celebrated during November, which reminds people of senior cats and dogs that are in shelters and waiting to be adopted. Pets are the best way to bring warmth into your life. So if you are considering getting a pet, consider opening your heart to a senior animal.

During the wintertime, your dog’s paws can take a beating with all the snow, ice, salt on the sidewalk, and overall chilly weather. It’s important to protect their paw pads as they don’t have protection like we do when we wear shoes. Fortunately, there are several ways to protect your dog’s paws this winter. Make sure to prepare for the cold weather with the following options: Booties- you can love them or hate them but they are a great way to keep your pups paw pads warm and toasty in the winter. Paw Balm - Before going for a walk rub your pups paws with some paw balm to reduce the damage and dry skin the salt can cause. Reduce the length of your walk- During the extreme cold, it’s best to keep walks short. Being out in the cold for too long is dangerous and can lead to frost bite!

This sweet baby is Darla! Darla visited the clinic to get some of her puppy vaccines! Puppy vaccines are an important step in a puppies life. Puppies should receive their first vaccinations at six to eight weeks of age. Most vaccines are given every 2-4 weeks until your puppy is fully protected, which is around 16 weeks. There are a few different vaccines your pup will need before they are fully vaccinated! If you have a puppy or are thinking of adding a new addition to your family please give us a call to answer all the question you may have!
