UPDATE: Dog owner has been identified and investigation is continuing

Grey Bruce Public Health is seeking the public’s assistance in finding the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident on July 16, 2024, in Southampton.

An individual was bitten by a large, white, poodle type dog at the Southampton Beach near the public bathrooms.

The dog was in the care of a woman ( grey hair and pink shirt) at the time of the incident. The dog was also on a leash.

Grey Bruce Public Health staff needs to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies. By verifying the dog’s health, the victim can avoid receiving post-exposure rabies treatment.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call Saugeen Shores Police at 519-832-2500 or Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1364.

We are also reminding people to keep their dogs off the beaches and under control unless signage specifies dog friendly access.

Some minor scheduling changes are happening as of SEPTEMBER.

My(Natasha) middle child is starting preschool and my husband will be returning to work which means I need to adjust my hours, no more late evenings during the week to squeeze people in!

As of Sept 3rd I will be not be doing Large to XL appointments over 1 hour durations Monday-Thursday and will only be offering these appointments on FRIDAYS. Not to worry though Shannon will still be accommodating these appointments all 5 days.

I am also extending my Friday hours from 12-6 to 10-8 PM to allow for more evening and bigger dogs to stay on my schedule.

I will also be starting to offer 1-2 Saturdays a month again based on my dog show and my daughter’s dance schedule.

If you are a request big dog and want to stay specifically on Natasha’s schedule going forward in September please contact me ASAP as my Fridays and Saturdays are going to fill FAST.

For my little and mediums nothing is changing for you! 🥰

*Public service announcement* Check your outdoor pets. Especially the long haired and older dogs!
These are maggots. Dead maggots that fell off a dog after treatment. Lots of dead maggots. These little devils can make quite a lot of damage before they are noticed.
In this hot weather small wounds can quickly become maggot buffets.
So check your outdoor pets!

Just a reminder!

We’ve had a lot of pet owners popping in to check on their furry friends. This time of year is extremely busy for us and we may take a bit longer to finish. We promise we WILL CALL when we are done. We often have to stop and answer the phone many, many times, check clients in and out, all while trying to work on your dog and then when you walk in they absolutely lose their mind and want to get to you. Not only does it make our job more difficult it makes it more dangerous for your pet as they are dancing around literal blades.

Please please please wait for us to call. Or at very minimum should us a text or call.

Today I competed at the Toronto Grooming Show with my American cocker spaniel Asher. We placed 3rd in our division! It was a great day.

The page will remain relatively inactive into the coming week. Unfortunately my youngest daughter is very ill and admitted to the hospital with both pneumonia and a blood infection. Some rescheduling is likely to happen this week. If you need assistance over the phone or in person Shannon will be in the salon tomorrow, as well as Monday-Friday next week.

P*e and P**p business! It’s not something we wanna talk about around the dinner table but must be discussed in regards to your grooming appointment.

With the snow and colder weather we understand it sucks but we really insist that everyone PLEASE walk their dogs prior to their appointment and make sure they have pottied well. A good portion of our day lately has been stopping grooming and cleaning up lots of messes. Everytime we have to stop it delays our schedule even further putting us behind.

We do understand nervous/elderly dogs and sometimes they just can’t help it due to the nerves. Often times we will recommend skipping breakfast or their dinner the night before their grooming to help clear their tummy out prior to their appointment.

For repeat offenders we will be implementing a clean up fee.

We really do appreciate everyone’s cooperation in this matter.
