Just an update on the progress of our sale, as they say 'no news is good news' and that is our position at the moment. The sale is progressing with the usual too and fro with the solicitor and all being well the sale should take place mid to end of October. We will keep you informed of any new developments but in the meantime please assume everything will carry on as at present.

Hi to all our hairy friends. Firstly some very sad news, our best boy has passed away. He was a good age for a standard poodle but is missed so much. He joined us not long after we started the kennels and has been with us through thick and thin and it is in some ways fitting that he should go just before we leave the kennels.

With regards to the kennels, I don't want to pre-empt anything but it looks as if we have a purchaser for the house and kennels. A closing date was put on for last Friday and we had two very strong offers, either of which would be safe hands to take over the kennels. No definite date has yet been arranged but we expect it to be end September or beginning of October. We will keep you informed of any further updates.

Please also note that we have started a new email address - [email protected] for future correspondence, however in the meantime any emails to me will still be treated as normal and the phone numbers will not change.

Hi to all our two and four legged friends. Just an update on our sales journey. The house and business went back on the market yesterday with Aberdeen & Northern Estates. As before we will work on a three month rolling basis for bookings although we will take and indeed have bookings for the end of the year and even into next year. We certainly hope that who ever takes over will continue in the same fashion as ourselves but ofcourse that cannot be guaranteed. If anyone wants an informal chat about the business please message me or give me a call, otherwise details can be found on the ANE website.

Just to say hello and update everyone on our sales journey. After an extended period where we thought we had sold the business it unfortunately fell through. It was a shame but it means that we are still able to see a lot of our old 4 legged friends and quite a few new ones. We are currently starting the process all over again and hope to be back on the market next month. As before it shouldn't affect any bookings for the summer but we will keep everyone notified of any potential changes.

Hi Doggie pals, just an update on what has been happening lately. Firstly a big thank you to Murron who has been helping throughout the summer holidays before going to Uni. You have been a great help and worked well with all our boarders, we all wish you the best in the future.

Our dog Findlay underwent a large "Tie Back" operation earlier this year after suffering from Laryngeal Paralysis, you can see him in one of the photos looking very relaxed. A big thank you to Inverness vet Referrals who did a great job.

With regards to ourselves we were asked to judge a fun dog show at Meikle Wartle, it was a great day and some absolutely stunning dogs were on show, a big thank you to all who attended.

With regards the sale things have been a bit quieter, although there was a very close call with a potential purchaser earlier in the year it wasn't to be, the business is still on the market but will be coming off at the end of October until the spring. This will give some assurance to people booking over the winter period, on that note anyone who wants to see a different side of the business we were featured in Escape to the Country which aired on Monday afternoon, it can be seen again on BBC 2 at 7:15 on Thursday or on iplayer.

One of the main things that has kept us going has been the support we get from all our regular clients, it has been great and very much appreciated.

Thank you all from
Jim, Sally & Findlay

Edit **A new loving home has been found for Archie, thanks to everyone who shared the original post and tagged people, it was very much appreciated**

To all our dog people out there - this local to Aberdeenshire, 10 month old kelpie cross huntaway, entire boy is looking for a new home, through no fault of his own. He requires a home with someone who has experience of herding breeds and where someone can devote lots of time to his ongoing training and give him the exercise/stimulation he needs. If you can help or are interested in finding out more, please private message and if you can share amongst the dog community it would be much appreciated 🙏

Wishing a happy Christmas to all our two and four legged friends. Wasn't sure if we would still be here at the beginning of the year and although there has been a fair amount of interest in the kennels over the year we just haven't received the right offer. In spite of that it has been an interesting year and we have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of new pups and dogs which is always great. Unfortunately we have also had to say goodbye to some of our favourites, most of them had a long and happy life but it is always sad to say goodbye.

Looking to the future, the kennels are still on the market but we will continue trading as normal and we look forward to seeing faces old and new in the New Year.

We are closed from the 15th to the 23rd of January but if anyone is looking for a stay that ends or starts within that period please contact us, we may be able to help.

Once again a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Jim, Sally, Cathy, Cheryl & June, not forgetting Findlay.

Hi to all our doggie chums. Just an update on what has been happening the last few months. We have had quite a few queries about the kennels and although most interest was very positive we have had no suitable offers so far. We are continuing to run the kennels as normal and although that can make some bookings for late in the year and for next year more problematic we will continue to keep you all updated as to the current situation. We are continuing to be very busy and appreciate all the support and kind words we have received from everybody that uses the kennels.

Thanks from all of us and look forward to seeing many of you in the near future.

Hi to all our doggie friends. I just wanted to update you all about the sale of the kennels, we have had a couple of serious interests in January, one fell through and the other one is waiting for there house to sell although of course someone could come out of the blue and put in an offer at any time. I appreciate that this makes things uncertain for yourselves wanting boarding and for us, we want to ensure that the kennels are trading as well as possible. It is our fervent wish that the kennels when sold carry on as they are now, we strongly believe that there is a need for good kenneling in the area and of course we don't wish to see the work we have put into it come to an end, however there is no guarantee that the new owners will continue trading. To try and make a bit more certainty we have decided to guarantee all bookings made within 3 months of the booking date since we think that 3 months is the minimum period that would be required for a change of owner. Therefore till we have a definite sale we will guarantee all bookings on a rolling 3 months basis. We will continue to take bookings for later in the year but we can not guarantee what will happen by then. I hope this makes sense but any questions please message me or call on 07749 782920.

Please note we have changed our Saturday opening times to match Sundays, i.e. 10-12 and 2-4. As usual we will try and be flexible and other times can be arranged in consultation with ourselves.

We are also looking for another kennel hand for probably a few hours a week. It would suit someone who is confident with a wide variety of dogs, enjoys walking and is fairly fit. Please message or phone me for further details.

Finally I would like to thank everyone for their kind messages when we announced that we were thinking of selling. It was greatly appreciated and it is always nice to hear that our efforts have not been in vain.

From Jim, Sally, Cathy and June and Findlay

Hi to all our doggie friends and their families. It is coming up to 10 years since we started our boarding Kennels and at the beginning we could never have believed how much it changed our lives. We have meet so many wonderful people and dogs and it has been fantastic the way you come back year after year, in some cases week after week.

All this is a prelude to something I am finding quite hard to say, that is we have decided to put Drums of Park Kennels up for sale. It was not an easy decision but we feel we need to have more time to ourselves and our Poodle, Findlay who has been with us since we started. We are going to try very hard to ensure that the business progresses, there is certainly a lot of scope to increase the number of Kennels and even to add a cattery. I don’t know what the future may hold but you can be assured of the same level of care whilst we are still here. All I can do now is ensure that you are kept informed of any developments. If anyone wants an informal chat about the business you know where to find me.

Our Story

We opened Drums of Park Kennels in 2011, one of our main aims was to correct the lack of good dog boarding facilities at a reasonable price in the area. Over the years we have built up a loyal following of dogs and their owners and we are always very moved when an owner phones to let us know that their dog is no longer with us.

At Drums of Park kennels each kennel is heated and consists of two areas, a sleeping area and an exercise area which can be closed at night. Dogs are walked or exercised four times a day either on our own land on extending leads or in our enclosed play area.

The price for one dog is £18 a night and for two dogs sharing it is £27 per night. We also charge a half day if picked up pm on the final day. We can take larger numbers in a kennel depending on the size of dogs, please contact us for further information.

You can bring your own food, or use ours (Autarky which is a complete dry food), similarly with bedding. We try and keep the dogs to the same feeding regime as they are used to and will always try and cater for any special demands, eg. toast for breakfast or fish for their dinner.
