🌟🩷Greyhound Fun Class Highlights!🩷🌟
I’m so proud to share a few moments from my Greyhound Fun Classes this Monday! 🐾 These sessions are all about building confidence, learning essential skills, and most importantly, having fun with our beloved hounds.
This week, we focused on basic skills and techniques, with a particular emphasis on mastering stays and waits and further developing our loose lead walking.
⭐️Shout-out to my stars of the class:
• Alfie, Cassius, and Hughie: These handsome boys nailed their simple waits with focus and grace. Watching them work so hard and succeed made me so proud!
• Beautiful Bugsy: She has been making such amazing progress with her loose lead walking and staying close to her mum. Her dedication and growth have been incredible to see!
Each of these hounds brought their unique charm and personality to the session, and I’m beyond excited to see how they continue to grow over the coming weeks. 🐕💖

Today, I got to spend some extra time with my beautiful Bonnie, working on a few exercises that I’ll be teaching in my upcoming classes! Bonnie may not be perfect (none of us are!), but she’s here to show just how intelligent and capable greyhounds can be with the right training🩷
My training is all about rewards and play, because, as any greyhound lover knows, keeping these sensitive souls focused requires a bit of fun! Through games and positive reinforcement, I’m helping Bonnie and my other hounds build essential life skills – from obedience to problem-solving. It’s not just training it’s a way to bond and grow together🐕
I still have a few spaces left for tomorrow’s class, so if you’ve been thinking of joining, now’s your chance! You can book through my link, or if the app is a little tricky, just shoot me a message, and I’ll get you set up🤩

🐾 JIM WORKING ON THIS WAY 🐾
Jim, my amazing boy, continues to put his heart into his training sessions, steadily building up his confidence and skills to navigate new environments and situations.
He's a quick learner, always ready to dive into the challenges. Our bond is built on trust, which truly enhances our training journey together. Jim remains at Clark's farm, patiently waiting for his perfect forever home to welcome him with open arms.
I couldn't be prouder of this boy, and I hope that training serves as a positive outlet for any stress he may feel in the kennels. My heart is full of love for Jim, and we are both dedicated to reaching our goal of seeing Jim happy and comfortable in his forever home.
Now, let's delve into how "this way" can be a powerful tool for managing reactivity in dogs. "This way" is a technique that redirects a dog's focus onto you, allowing you to guide them away from potential triggers in the environment.
By using "this way," you can proactively move your dog away from situations that may cause reactions, helping them stay calm and under threshold. This redirection of attention can prevent escalation of reactive behaviors and create a positive association with following your lead.
Consistent practice of "this way" can help dogs like Jim build trust in their handlers, improve focus, and ultimately, manage reactivity more effectively.

🩷🐾My Recent Training Session with Quaver🐾🩷
Me and Quaver were back at it with training last week, and I couldn't be happier with her progress.
We started weeks ago with the touch cue, and now we've moved on to the touch and go command. This exercise is helping Quaver with disengagement, a crucial skill for her interactions with other breeds. While it's still a work in progress, Quaver's resilience and eagerness to learn shine through in everything she does.
She's truly exceptional, and I'm grateful for every challenge she takes on with me!
I absolutely adore this girl and hope that sharing our training journey will inspire someone to adopt her. Quaver's profile can be found here:https://www.clarksfarmgreyhounds.org.uk/dogs-for-rehoming/quaver.htm
During our session, we also focused on mastering the left and right cues, and Quaver did amazingly well.
Her dedication and progress never cease to amaze me. We have such an amazing bond and I can’t wait to finally see her get her happy ending in a forever home🩷🏡
Today's video shines the spotlight on my remarkable foster dog Marvin, who is still looking for his forever home at Clark's Farm.🏡
Initially, I expected training Marvin on reactive type behaviours however, since he joined my home, his adaptability has been truly impressive. Marvin has shown no signs of reactivity or prey drive, leading us to focus on obedience and fun tricks together!
Marvin is a bright and eager learner, especially when his favorite treats are involved – he's super food motivated! Our training sessions are short, engaging, and full of fun, strengthening the bond and trust between us.
For more details about Marvin and to potentially make him a part of your family, head over to Clark's Farm's website: https://www.clarksfarmgreyhounds.org.uk/dogs-for-rehoming/marvin.htm
I am incredibly proud of Marvin's progress and how he's thriving in a home environment. The lucky family that adopts him will have a loyal and loving companion by their side!🩷🐾
I just had another amazing training session with my best friend Quaver🩷
Quaver continues to impress me with her progress in each session. She's adding new tools to her training toolbox every time we work together!
Today, I decided to have some extra fun and teach her a new command called "around" using the luring technique.
Let me explain what the luring technique is for those who are curious. It's a method where you use a treat or a toy to guide your dog's movement and help them understand the desired behavior. In this case, I used a yummy treat to guide Quaver in a circular motion, and she caught on so quickly!🐾
We revisited the "look at me" cue to reinforce her focus and attention. I will now begin to practice this command in different environments and situations to ensure she responds consistently.
I must say, Quaver is such a quick learner and always up for any challenge I throw her way! She's not only teaching me so much about training but also about the incredible bond that can develop between a human and a dog. Our connection has grown so strong, and I absolutely adore her🥰
My ultimate goal is to see Quaver find her forever home, where she'll be happy as ever. With her training progress, she's more than ready to be part of a loving family and enjoy the comfort of her very own sofa!🏠
Make sure to get into contact with Clarks Farm for more information on Quaver🐾🩷
Look at the amazing Jim and his impressive progress in our training sessions! 🐾
Jim has been widening his skill set at lightning speed, picking up new commands like a pro. In our last session, we introduced two exciting disengagement tools: 'What's My Name' and 'Go Find It'. These tools are going to be super helpful for Jim during his walks with other dogs present.
And let me tell you, this boy is a quick learner! He's not only eager to make me proud but also motivated by those yummy treats, of course!
We're getting ready to take Jim's training to the next level by practicing these tools in busier environments. I have no doubt that he's going to absolutely smash it every time!
On a personal note, I just have to say how much I adore this boy. Jim's kindness and the love he gives are truly something special. I know that someone out there will fall head over heels for him, just like I have.
If you want more information about this handsome boy, feel free to get in touch with Clark's Farm on 01621 788315📞
Stay tuned for more updates on Jim's training journey💙🐾
🐾 Meet the lovely Jim! 🐾
Jim had his first training session with me the other day, and let me tell you, he's one smart boy!
Jim was returned to the kennels 6 months ago, but we're working together to help him prepare for his forever family. Alongside his bonded sister Ally, we're making great progress!
We started with some basic focus and disengagement tools to address Jim's reactive tendencies during walks.
It's important to note that greyhound reactivity is unique due to their background as race dogs.
But with Jim's intelligence and our continued training, we're confident in reaching our end goal: helping Jim feel more comfortable during walks.
I couldn't be prouder of Jim and the progress he's making. He truly deserves a loving home, and I'm hopeful that he'll find one soon💙🐾

🐾LOOK AT ME DEMONSTRATED BY THE INCREDIBLE QUAVER🐾
Just wanted to share the incredible progress that Quaver and I have been making during our training sessions.
It's been such an amazing journey, and I'm so proud of her! 🌟
In our latest session, we learned a new skill called "Look at me." It's been a game-changer! Basically, I place a treat on the ground and wait for Quaver to make direct eye contact with me before rewarding her.
This is going to be so helpful when we're in new environments with other dogs. It helps her stay focused on me and not get overwhelmed by everything around her.
I can't even express how proud I am of Quaver and how well our sessions are going. She's going to bring so much joy to a loving family! If you want to learn more about this amazing girl, make sure to check out Clark's Farm website 🔗 http://www.clarksfarmgreyhounds.org.uk
I'm so excited to share more of our progress and stay tuned on my page for my first training session with the wonderful Jim!
These dogs are my everything, and training and bonding with them is the most rewarding experience. I love them all so much!🥰
Hope you enjoyed the post, and thanks for all the support!🐾🩷
🐾CLICKER TRAINING🐾
This video of clicker training is demonstrated by the exceptional Quaver. In this video I’m just getting her used to the sound of the clicker with the reward of the treat straight after!
Clicker training is a positive reinforcement technique used to train dogs. It involves using a small handheld device called a clicker that makes a distinct clicking sound. The clicker serves as a marker to let your dog know when they've done something right.
Now, here's where the magic happens with clicker training! When you pair the click sound with a high value reward, like a tasty treat or a favorite toy, it creates a positive association in your dog's mind. They learn that the click means they've done something good and that a reward is coming their way. It's like saying, "Yes, you nailed it!"
But timing is everything in clicker training. The click must be followed by the reward within a split second, so your dog can make the connection between their action and the reward. This is what makes the training effective and helps your hound understand what behavior you're reinforcing. It's all about being clear and consistent!
Remember, the reward should be something your dog finds really exciting and motivating. It could be a small, tasty treat that they absolutely adore or a special toy they can't resist. By using high value rewards, you're giving your dog that extra incentive to repeat the behavior you're looking for.
The beauty of clicker training is that it allows you to communicate with your dog in a positive and precise way. It's a gentle and reward-based approach that strengthens the bond between you and your furry friend. Plus, it's a lot of fun for both of you!

🐾TRAINING SESSION WITH QUAVER 🐾
Hey everyone! I wanted to share my amazing training session I had with Quaver, one of our long-term residents at Clarks Farm💙
Quaver is such an intelligent girl and she's been picking up new skills super fast! 🐶💡
In today's session, we focused on some disengagement cues. It's important for her to feel comfortable and confident in different social situations and these cues will help her with this🐾
We started off by mastering the "touch" cue, where Quaver learns to touch her nose to my hand. This cue helps her focus and engage with me. Next, we played the 1,2,3 counting game, which serves as a disengagement tool putting her focus onto me.
I believe in teaching a range of different cues because it's more effective for the dog. By having a variety of tools in their training toolbox, they can respond better to different situations!
To wrap up the session on a positive and fun note, I gave Quaver a jackpot of treats! This not only rewards her for her hard work but also leaves her excited and eager for the next training session. Training should always be a joyful experience for both the dog and the trainer!
If you have any questions or want to learn more about Quaver's progress, feel free to post them in the comments below🫶🏼
