How handsome is Otto! Listen to that purr...
Who doesn’t want some puppy love on a Friday? 💗
At Regency Vets, we prioritize the well-being of all our patients, from the tiniest to the largest. We use the same techniques and monitoring equipment in small furries as in dogs and cats to ensure their safety under anaesthetic. Jed came in for a scale and polish and dental x-rays, in the 2nd photo you can see him under anaesthetic with his intravenous catheter, ECG leads and sampling line for us to monitor his breathing. Look at how well he recovered 💗
We’ve got a lot to offer!
It's not just dogs and cats that can suffer in this heat. Rabbits and guinea pigs are particularly vulnerable to heat, especially if kept outside.
Here are some top tips from our nurse Millie on how to keep your small furries cool and safe:
- Keep hutches/runs in the shade if possible.
- Make sure there is plenty of ventilation (either from mesh panels or, if housed indoor, use a fan).
- Provide plenty of fresh clean water (guinea pigs and rabbits will drink more if offered a bowl over a bottle).
- Offer fresh foods with high water content such as cucumber, peppers, courgette and certain lettuces. You can also rinse fresh food to add in extra water.
- Make frozen treats from their favourite fruit and veg.
- Freeze water bottles/ice packs and cover with old socks or towels (do not use gel ice packs as small furries are known to nibble through them).
Fly strike prevention during the spring and summer months is vitally important. Ensure their housing is kept clean and dry. Check their back ends at least once daily especially if long haired. Long haired small furries may benefit from a summer hair cut to keep them clean.
Millie runs small furries clinics where you can bring your pet in for a health check, dental check, nail trim and coat trim. It's an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about caring for small furries. Please contact us for details.
Making sure that we manage confidential information securely is Egg's main responsibility.
If anything needs shredding then Egg's up to the task
We're very lucky at Regency Vets that we can bring our pet to work with us. This week is 'Bring your pet to work' week so we thought we'd share with you how our dogs help us out when they're on the clock!
First up is Finn the 'Bin Monitor'!
Finn takes responsibility for making sure everything is being put in the right bin and no food goes to waste.
Whilst some would dread the thought of getting right in the rubbish and checking everything's in order, it's one of Finn's greatest pleasures.
Naturally with such an unpleasant task to perform, Finn's many years of experience means he's learned to wait until no one else is around before 'popping the lid'.
Lovely Lola came in for a very large hernia repair and spay.
When she first visited us she was so anxious she wouldn't let us touch her. Now look at her!
Thank you Aura's Dogs for bringing the beautiful Lola to see us and Jordan for the amazing videos!
Shep is a gorgeous young collie with the biggest heart! He is looking for a forever home, if you could help please contact Aura’s Dogs UK.
Our aim here at Regency Vets is that all of our patients enjoy coming to see us as much as Oola does! 💗💗💗
Come and take a tour of our beautiful new practice!
