Phew! It was a warm one today 🥵
I said 10:30 end in this video but I meant 11:30 classes finish.
We may start them earlier on the warmest days or cancel if it’s too hot.
Well done all, you did great and we kept it calm and cool today 👏
Have a cracking weekend, we’ve waited long enough for summer this year. 😊☀️
It’s been a bit of a car crash week, lots going on and I’ve been away to attend a wedding.
So I’m back here in Tiptree whilst the happy couple are jetting off to Rome today! Such a beautiful city.
Have a lovely Monday with your doggos, I may visit one of our coastlines later as I need some fresh sea air.
It the meantime here is baby Theon and a crazy mum holding a camera iphone! Why not? 😜
SMART POPPY ❤️
Poppy has only stayed with me a couple of times a year.
I HAVE NEVER TRAINED HER!
She has a reflex response and she understands the cues I use with my dogs. She only knows a positive outcome to all of the cues. She is one smart dog, she’s so easy and so willing and LOOK … not one treat for all of those cues.
You can achieve this, Poppy learnt this by observing my own dogs and me.
Very little effort was needed.
Training only once a day for 10 minutes:
🐾before your walk
🐾before a meal
🐾with your dogs food
🐾on your walk
is better than not at all.
You got this 🙌

This is my lovely client Claire with her mini-dachshund, she was having trouble with SIT, I suggested the mat and we got the SIT immediately. Sometimes we need to take a step back and think why we may not be getting a behaviour. Is it too cold, too hot, too wet, too arousing, is the food too stimulating, is the toy too stimulating, is the environment overwhelming or too stimulating, is your dog in pain, are his muscles tight? If you are struggling with something then think of all these factors that may be hindering the training.
Happy training ❤️🐾
ForceFree Recall Freedom 🌟
It’s always worth buying big expensive dogs beds!
Scatter feeding!
Why do we scatter feed?
Instead of placing your dogs food in a bowl, teach them to search for their food and yes I do this with raw too.
Teach the ‘find it’ cue, use their breakfast or tea and scatter it around your garden or house or both, high and low and hidden, give your dog the cue to search.
Uses energy both physical and mentally not to mention the benefits of scenting, searching and finding the reward = calm, focussed and healthy, happy dogs.
Give this a go, if you have attended my puppy/beginner class you will have learnt a ‘find it’ cue.
I love watching my dogs do this activity.
Kathryn and the lovely Del in practise for a bright future! We have put in some essential puppy skills to grab his attention and create a strong bond of trust, fun and love with his new caregiver.
What a beautiful, bouncy, happy boy he is!
Morning cuddles with the princess 🥰
Krista & Elsie now achieving backwards in Middle, it’s a great confidence building exercise. It’s one of my favourites to put in with reactive dogs as it builds a strong relationship and you become the safety net for your dog to tuck himself into.
Well done Krista. 👏
Congratulations on completing your 6 week Intermediate Course with DogConfidence, absolute troopers in the rain!! 👏
Hope to see you at Follow-on 😊
Congratulations on completing your Puppy/Beginner course.
Hope to see you all again soon!
Learning a release cue is life saving, your dog asking you if it’s ok to move for his safety and is one of many impulse control exercises.
Look here on how to teach a release ‘cue’.

Have fun 😊

When you consider your future career options! 🤔
I’m out of the office spending some much needed quality time with my babies 🐾❤️ #dogconfidence #tiptreedogtrainer #dogholidays
My dogs have been taught ‘IN’, I didn’t wait until they reacted, I taught ‘IN’ out of context, blocked access to the gate to stop them rehearsing the behaviour. If they hear something before I do, I sat ‘IN’ and they stop and head in. #forcefreedogtraining #positivereinforcementdogtraining #dogtraining #dogconfidence #wiemaraner
Luna practising her scentwork, really starting to get the hang of it.
Taught by the fabulous Fiona Mersea Mutts Ltd - Dog Trainer , she really starts to switch on and faces distractions from my cats as well.
She’s knows she has to find it but is so engaging with me, she checks in often ti see if she still needs to search. So focus is a part she needs to learn.
Love how hard she tries.
Force free, Pain free, Fear free training, allowing your dog the choice to think.❤️🐾
Training the wotsit way, you say?
Who says a dachshund can’t learn that water is not scarey !
