Is ace not just the cutest little one!😱

Ace came in for his castration but little Ace also has a heart murmur. Our lovely vet Niamh is currently doing a certificate in ultrasonography and was able to scan Aces heart. Ace was diagnosed Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. This means that the heart's left ventricle (its primary “pump muscle”) is thickened, leading to a decrease in the volume of the heart chamber and to abnormal relaxation of the heart muscle.🫀

Ace's heart will be monitored ongoing to ensure he is living a happy and health life. 😁

Thanks for the visit sweet Ace. 💚

How sweet is little Tigerlily who came in to see our lovely vet Francesca.💚

Little Tigerlily was not quite herself and it was found that she had a lump on her back. A sample was taken and looked at under the microscope.
It was confirmed that the lump was indeed an abscess and would explain why little Tigerlily was not herself.🔭

Tigerlily's abscess was clipped, cleaned and drained and she went home with some antibiotics to ensure she makes a full recovery. 🥰

Meet Archie, who came in to see our lovely vet Viraf for a heart scan. 💚

Archie's heart scan revealed he has mitral valve disease. This is when the mitral valve in the heart becomes thickened. 🫀

Statistics show that mitral valve disease afflicts over half of all cavalier King Charles spaniels by age 5 years.😱

Archie will be monitored over the next few years to ensure the disease does not deteriorate.😁

Thanks for the visit little Archie. 💚

This absolute sweetheart is Poppy ❤

Poor Poppy is another in the long list this summer of pets getting into trouble with grass seeds 😞

She had them embedded in two of her paws and needed a sedation so our fantastic vet Francesca could explore the feet and safely remove those horrible grass seeds

Poppy was amazing ⭐ enjoyed kisses and cuddles with Francesca and will feel much more comfortable now

This sweet little man is Harvey ❤

His owner brought him in to see our amazing vet Viraf because of concerns that he had been lethargic and panting a lot
Viraf performed an ultrasound of his abdomen and discovered that his liver looked very "bright" and is very fatty. We have sent some blood samples to the lab to investigate this further and will keep in regular contact with his owner to report the results and discuss a treatment plan

Harvey was an absolute pleasure and loved his cuddles with Viraf 😍

This absolutely beautiful girl is Mabel ❤

She has a heart condition called Mitral Valve disease which is a problem with the valve located between the left heart chambers.
She needs to have regular ultrasounds of her heart to monitor the condition
We are very lucky to have Vet Viraf here with us who is an exceptional ultrasonographer ⭐

She really is the sweetest girl and sat beautifully to be clipped for her scan

🌱GRASS ALERT!!!🌱

As with every summer, we, and all of our sister clinics, are seeing lots of pets with those pesky grass seeds causing them problems 😟
These grass seeds are barbed and very sharp. They enter the skin with their sharp pointy end and get stuck
We see them stuck in paws, in eyes, down ears and even in ge***al areas!!
They cause a lot of pain, discomfort and can lead to nasty infections

Try to avoid letting your dog go into long grass and make sure to check their coat thoroughly, including the paws, after a walk

This sweet little friend is Coco ❤

She was sent to us by our sister clinic in Oxford because our vet there discovered she has a heart murmur.
We are lucky enough to have vet Viraf here at Wimbledon. He is a very skilled ultrasonographer and is always happy to see patients from all of our clinics ⭐
The ultrasound showed that Coco has a condition called Mitral Valve Disease. This means there is a problem with the valve located between the left heart chambers

Now we have a diagnosis, we were able to start Coco on some medication to control her condition and our Oxford surgery will monitor her closely going forward

Coco was a very good girl for us today and a pleasure to look after 🐶

This very handsome gentleman is Tigger ❤
He came to see us as he was experiencing some tooth pain, causing him to not want to eat very well
Tigger had FORLs on some of his teeth. This stands for Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions, These are extremely common in cats and happen when when cells called odontoclasts destroy the tooth's surface. The exact cause of this is unknown, although there are many theories, including inflammation and diet related theories

The condition can be very painful and affected teeth usually need to be removed
Tigger was treated today by our amazing vet Francesca who removed the affected teeth and gave the others a good clean up
As you can see, he began to eat comfortably very quickly after the surgery 😍

A regular health check, including a check of the teeth, is a good idea for all of our pets. If you are worried that your pet may have dental pain, please do not hesitate to get in touch

This beautiful little girl is Belle ❤
She came to see our excellent medical vet Viraf because she was very lethargic, not wanting to eat and had terrible diarrhoea
A test performed at the clinic confirmed she has a parasite called Giardia. This is very common in puppies and can cause very unpleasant tummy upsets
She was admitted with us for some pain relief, IV fluids to keep her hydrated, medication to kill the parasite and medication for her nausea
By the end of the day she was eating and feeling a lot brighter 🥰
We have sent a faecal sample to the laboratory to make sure there is nothing else causing her to be so unwell and we will keep a close eye on her, along with her lovely owner, and await her lab test results

This beautiful boy is Romeo ❤
He is a patient at our sister surgery Mayow Vets. He has not been eating very well and has had some diarrhoea
He came to see our exception ultrasonographer Viraf for an ultrasound of his abdomen so we could try to get to the bottom of the issues Romeo is having
An ultrasound showed that his liver did not look quite right 🤔

Viraf took some samples of the fluid around his liver and took a sample of some cells from the liver itself using a small needle

These sample will be sent to the laboratory to be tested and tell us exactly what is happening.

In the meantime Romeo has been sent home with some medications to support his liver

He was an absolute star of a patient, enjoyed the fuss from our nursing staff and was quite interested in looking at his own ultrasound ⭐️ We will keep a close eye on him going forward
