Seasonal Canine Illness - what do you need to look out for??
Seasonal Canine Illness is a disease seen in dogs within a few days of walking in a woodland area. The cause is unknown and there is no cure.....
This mystery illness only seems to affect dogs in the late summer and autumn months, with most cases being seen between August and November.
The main symptoms include:
🐶 Vomiting
🐶 Diarrhoea
🐶 Tiredness
🐶 Abdominal pain
🐶 Fever
While there is no cure, the symptoms can be alleviated and most dogs will recover if they are treated early.
It is important to remember thats cases are extremely rare, but if your dog does present with symptoms, they will need urgent veterinary care, so please call us on 01622 734555 if you have any worries or concerns.

Dogs in yellow day
Today is #DogsInYellowDay we are sharing this video from The Vet Channel to raise awareness to dogs who need space while training, recovering from surgery, or being rehabilitated.
💛 Dogs in yellow are not trying to make a fashion statement, they (and their owners) are trying to send an important message 💛
For some dogs, interacting with other dogs (or people) can be scary, stressful or even painful. They might have painful joint disease, be recovering from surgery, or have had bad experiences earlier in life.
Whatever the reason, for #DogsInYellow a little bit of space can make a BIG difference 💛💛
So if you see a dog in yellow when out and about please give them space and don't let your dog run up to say "hello"
💛💛 Help your anxious dog: become part of the "Yellow Army" 💛💛

Use your bonus day to help save lives! 🙌🐶
This leap year, we are supporting Pet Blood Bank with their mission to try and register 29 new lifesaving donor dogs between Monday 26 and Thursday 29 February. 🩸
We are proud to support Pet Blood Bank and their lifesaving work. Without the blood bank, there are many dogs today who might no longer be with us because blood is just as vital for dogs as it can be for humans.
Please join us in helping to raise awareness of this vital charity and let’s see if we can get 29 wonderful new donor dogs registered across the country.
If 29 new dogs register and each of those dogs donates just one unit of blood, that would help to save the lives of up to 116 other dogs 🩸
29 February is basically a bonus day so let’s use it for good and help to save lives

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a world-wide health threat, as bacteria are becoming resistant to many antibiotics we use.
A third of people hold onto unused antibiotics for potential future reuse and pet owners may similarly store them for their pets. But re-using antibiotics in the same or other pets poses a high risk of AMR emerging and spreading.
Throughout November 2022, overlapping with World Antibiotic Awareness Week (18th-24th November), we are holding an antibiotic amnesty to encourage the return of any unused antibiotic medications for safe disposal.
We can also dispose of pet medicines other than antibiotics; please ask a member of our practice team for assistance.
**We are only able to accept veterinary medicines.
