Hi,

Due to high demand we are currently unable to take on new clients who already have a vet in the area.
For owners with no local vet we will always try and accommodate you.

Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.

Attention cat owners! 🐱

From 10 June 2024 cats over 20 weeks old must be and registered on a compliant database 📆

By microchipping their cats, owners can increase the likelihood that they will be reunited with their beloved pet in the event that they go missing.

Let’s not forget the date for cats being microchipped by law is fast approaching. It is so important for cats to have a microchip so we can reunite lost pets with their owners should they stray too far. Please contact us to book in with a nurse whether you want to check if your pet is chipped or require one to be placed 🐾

*UPDATE* this little guy has been neutered and ear tipped by ourselves and has been released to be a farm cat. He is extremely nervous and feral and unsuitable for rehoming so after guidance from the cats protection league this is the best option for him. Thank you for all your messages and comments 🐾

This little guy was found today in a waste bin near Cornhill Rd, Urmston with a bean tin stuck around his head 🫣! Luckily he was brought down to us quickly and with some sedation we were able to remove the tin with no injuries 😅

He does not have a collar or a chip but if any one recognises him or has any other information please give us a ring on 0161 747 9002 🐾

We have had a cat brought into us at the Urmston practice this morning that may have been hit by a car. The cat was found on Broadway, M41. Sadly she passed away in the practice whilst being looked after by our team. She was a young pale tortoiseshell female with no collar or microchip. If you think this could be your cat please contact us on 0161 747 9002. Thank you.

For many, Christmas is a time for sharing mouth-watering and delicious festive foods with friends and family. Although your dog may be high up on your list of loved ones, sharing certain human foods with them can make your dog very ill and could even be fatal.

As a practice the new guidelines for certain breeds are something we are all getting our heads around, but for any dog that may be fearful or aggressive or even scavenge on walks and require a muzzle in various situations it’s never too late to take the opportunity to get some advice and training.

🐕📣 Muzzle training with our experts
If you own an American Bully XL type dog, you can start preparing them for the restrictions by making sure they are trained to happily wear a muzzle.
We’re offering free online sessions to help you do this and will cover:
👉 information about the most suitable types of muzzle
👉 how to ensure a good fit
👉 how to teach your dog to enjoy wearing their muzzle.
Book now 👉 https://bit.ly/40me1M7
Our expert trainers have muzzle trained thousands of dogs in our care and can answer any other questions you might have about how to prepare for any upcoming changes affecting you and your dog.
These sessions are designed to support owners of American Bully XLs in light of the recent news, but all dog owners are welcome to attend. It’s useful for all dogs to be able to wear a muzzle comfortably – for those who are anxious at vet visits, for dogs who like to eat undesirable things on a walk or to keep other dogs and people safe if dogs are worried.

There has been new guidance released by the government regarding XL bullies. Please follow the link for the guidance.

Cats find antifreeze appealing because of its sweet taste, but it can be fatal if your cat ingests even a small amount. Signs to look out for include:⁣

👉 Excessive urination or none at all
👉 Vomiting⁣ or drooling
👉 Seeming uncoordinated⁣
👉 Unusually fast heart rate
👉 Fast and shallow breathing.

If you think your cat may have ingested antifreeze, get in touch with your vet immediately.

So you fancy being a Veterinary Receptionist?

Understandable, working in a vet practice is pretty cool but can you...

Answer a phone......while two other lines are ringing and several clients are waiting at the desk to be booked in, to pick up medicines and to pay for their treatment

Take a call about a sick pet......calm down a hysterical owner, ascertain the relevant details, find and speak to a vet or nurse in the clinic, remember their advice, relay that to the owner and then book them in for an emergency appointment (also while the waiting room is still full)

Cuddle a cute puppy...... when just a few minutes before you were offering tissues and sympathy to a family who had lost a beloved companion.

Make a cup of tea...... for a distraught colleague who has just dealt with a really traumatic situation, comfort them and then help and support them to face the rest of their day

And that is just for starters!

Veterinary Receptionists are the beating heart of a veterinary clinic. They are the people who you will first speak to on the phone, who will greet you at the desk, who plan our days and keep the show on the road.

They will welcome your new cute addition to the family and be the sympathetic and kind presence you need when you face that final day with your companion.

Today is Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Day! And oh my goodness, do we appreciate them!!!

Thank you VERY much for all you do for all of us!
