Rivers agility training journey is taking time.
To be frank most of the time she is just dangerous 😳 She lacks self preservation for both herself and me!

Dog walk training has been a complete no go but recently she has become very foodie.

So i figured I’d attempt some running contacts to the MM, you might note she’s not running!? Well I’m glad, she’s thinking and learning what criteria I actually want. I could get her to run… run really fast to a toy but does she understand the assignment?

I can 100% tell you she wouldn’t she’d hyper focus on the toy and that would be her only focus.

Whether she leaped the contact, jumped off the top or took me out… that’s all she wants.

This way using a lower value reward she’s using her brain to remember the job in hand… maybe the speed will come 🤷🏼‍♀️ maybe it won’t. As long as she’s safe and stops trying to unalive me 💀

I will be running a Running Contacts Foundations workshop in September… stay posted for the dates ❤️ and to follow her progress 🫶🏼

So true!
Feel the fear and do it anyway!

For those of my students starting to compete- especially those who are scared things will go wrong: they will.

I can absolutely guarantee things will go wrong.

Everybody who has ever competed with dogs has experienced their dog stopping to toilet in the ring, running off with the toy and playing keep-away, not listening and instead doing zoomies around the ring, acting like they’ve never seen agility equipment before in their life and a million other scenarios that are totally embarrassing.

I promise that we’ve all been there.

At Bramble’s first ever show, I joked that we would get eliminated on the first jump. People laughed and told me it’s impossible. Lo and behold, as soon as I unclipped her lead, Bramble ran around the first hurdle and back jumped it. Elimination on the first jump.

I’ve been eliminated for dogs weeing/ pooing in the ring, going before the scrimer started me, accidentally leaving the wrong collars on my dogs, my dogs leaving the ring, them climbing on tunnels, taking the wrong course a hundred times over, me sending the dogs the wrong way because I’ve forgotten where I was meant to go… you name it, I’ve probably done it.

You just have to keep showing up. It gets easier. Bramble went four years before she got a clear round, and she has won at Crufts. Both you and your dogs will make mistakes, and that’s part of the learning process. Just go out there and have fun.

The first few shows, everything will probably go wrong. But I promise it’s worthwhile. Everyone has been a beginner, and although for some it was so long ago that they choose to forget what it’s like, we have all been there.

Just enjoy it, draw a line under mistakes and, above all, keep showing up! Have a great time!

Instead of Distance Sequencing would you rather a more specific class? Layering? Obstacle Discrimination?

It’s been very busy here at Agility All Starz HQ 💜⭐️💜⭐️

The paddock is ready and the kit has all been moved from our indoor venue.

All groups will now be at the field (please continue to pray to the sun gods for fine weather ☀️😂)

I have 1 space in a beginners group on a Tuesday evening if anyone is interested in trying out agility.

121’s are now available, please pm me to book

Private field hire will soon be available again and can be booked on the

All kit will be available, currently First Contact A-Frame, Dog Walk & Seesaw.
Likely to have a higher grade course set up.

Café ☕️, 2.5 acre enclosed dog walking paddock & toilet all on site 😃

Completely FREE Dog Training Group for Junior Handlers

Introducing…

⭐️⭐️Agility All Starz Juniors!!⭐️⭐️

⌚️Mon 4-5pm
Starting 13th May for 5 weeks

Dog training for kids up to the age of 13 and their pet dogs.

Over the 5 weeks they will learn how to train

👩🏼‍🏫 Basic obedience skills.

🏃🏽‍♂️ An introduction to agility

🐦 An introduction to gundog work

🪄 An introduction to trick training

Following the 5 weeks, if there is enough interest this will continue as a FREE weekly training group though the summer.

Location - 📍 Through The Gate Cafe, Nether Broughton, LE14 3ES

Things to note-
It’s for kids keen to learn how to train dogs. They MUST want to do it.

There will be homework.

They MUST be able to control the dog in a environment with other people and dogs.

This WILL NOT be suitable for any dogs that have any reactivity issues. (I am happy to work with these dogs, just not in this environment)

Parents will have to remain on site .

Please feel free to ask any questions or if your unsure if your dog would be suitable we can book an assessment prior to the course starting 😊

There are VERY limited spaces available, it is a FREE course so please ensure you and your child is committed to the full 5 weeks!

Spaces will be filled from the waiting list if sessions are missed.
