Omg!!! What happened today??? ๐Ÿฅฐ

Literally the most times I've ever said things like:
"that was the best run I've ever seen you guys smash" ๐Ÿ’ช
"I can't believe how much you guys have come on"
"Wow, they're working like a grown up" and "well done, I literally saw you correct that before it happened!"

I always expect people to bring their A game to training but today was something else. I'm exhausted but totally buzzing for everyone and energised by your passion! ๐Ÿคฉ

Honestly, huge amounts of success for EVERY SINGLE PARTNERSHIP that I had the pleasure of working with today, thanks everyone for being YOU ๐Ÿฉต

(Photo shamelessly borrowed but Falkor looks how I feel!)

Lovely day teaching hoopers in Staffordshire for our 5th year of Hanford winter series ๐Ÿ˜€

Some truly awesome work over some very challenging sequences and courses.

Big love to baby Phoenix, his first session with me and he bossed it ๐Ÿ’ช was it hoopers? Nah, At 16 weeks old it most certainly wasn't! Was it mightily impawtent stuffs for a baby pupster? ABSOLUTELY!! ๐Ÿคฉ Loads of fun and lots of sausage for such a cool boy not at all fazed by the environment ๐Ÿฉต

It's no secret I'm not a collie kind of girl (there are many with a special place in my heart I just can't ever see myself owning one) and someone recently said something along the lines of "it must suck that you teach so many"
I was like err..... I don't! ๐Ÿคฃ

It made me think about all the different dogs I do teach and yes there are many amazing (and often hilarious!) Collies in all guises but here's a run down of the dogs I had the pleasure of today...

So lovely to be back in Staffordshire for our monthly winter sessions yesterday. As I drove home in the dark I thought back through the day, the dogs and how awesome everyone was and something stood out for me.

Now I know this is true of pretty much all training days I do but I never really pay it much thought as I'm so used to working like that it's just perfectly normal to me, but yesterday I found myself really analysing what we did. The answer? A little bit of hoopers and a lot of other stuff! Everyone did amazingly but there's some standout moments from the day for me.

We had several puppies from just a few weeks old for very important socialisation. A new rehome who is nervy, skinny and just finding out how cool life can be, he had lots of play, a little bit of desensitisation and learned how to earn lots of food ๐Ÿฅž. A super girly who didn't have the confidence to leave mum before, whizzing round on her own and even coming for a bit of a cuddle with me! She even worked for me for a short demo ๐Ÿคฉ
Another over thinker who is really finding her feet and letting herself shine. A confident little dude showing the world that toy dogs can do distance and putting his all in to playing with someone else away from home. Some shouty barky types listening hard and making great choices,
A super crazy working breed who we worked on mum being a bit more "with" in the moment rather than a frantic race/chase around the course and some stunning work, actually there were a couple of these ๐Ÿฅฐ baby dogs (young adults) doing proper big boy things and having successful failures (yes, that's a thing!) Changing the rules on a couple of mature girls who are at different stages of confidence blips, even playing mind games (and physical games) and seeing them run beautifully and of course, all the laughter, camraderie support and fun the Hanford lot bring every time, You and your dogs are all amazing and it's an absolute pleasure to get to work with you โค๏ธ

Pic of the best boy at Saturday nights M6 stopover. My dogs not spoilt, your dog is ๐Ÿคฃ

Took advantage of the warmer weather today and took Seven into town to experience some festivities.

She's well over a year old now but "puppy" socialisation is never finished, especially since she has had some major hormonal changes recently and it can have a huge effect on a dogs confidence so it seemed a great opportunity. She was very little last Christmas so going into shops full of weird things, flashing lights and lots of scary people around wearing some really odd clothes and hats was high on the list!
And it was windy!

So we saw and spent time having great experiences (thats a posh word for sausage!) around:
๐ŸŽ„Signs blowing in the wind
๐ŸŽ„Big Issue sellers being a bit too pushy
๐ŸŽ„Clarinet player busking
๐ŸŽ„A Christmas party (on a Monday!)
๐ŸŽ„Tinsel in shops..... scary at first then wanted to steal it all and rub our face on it!
๐ŸŽ„Busses, lorries, lots of traffic, walking through scaffolding and on busy pavements
๐ŸŽ„all the usual prams, pushchairs, screaming children, eheelchairs, walkers and clicky walking sticks weirdos who really want a "maleenoyce" and a lady who knows she's a malamute ๐Ÿ™„ lots of people in coffee shops and just the general unpredictable nature of "public"!

We also had a nice play in the park and got to choose a new toy (then helped mum chase all the fluff around the park after the toy went P**F!)

No wonder she's knackered! ๐Ÿ˜…

Success is no accident...

Someone said this to me many years ago, I was a teenager and had been riding horses almost all of my life. This particular instructor reduced me to tears after our first lesson. I thought I was a half decent jockey....he showed me how much more I had to learn. Itโ€™s something that has stuck with me through my years of teaching and training, both in animal sports and also in a corporate environment. People donโ€™t get good at things by chance, it isnโ€™t luck and in the beginning it isnโ€™t even hard work and dedication. Itโ€™s understanding.

โ€œTell me and I will forget. Show me and I will remember. Involve me and I will understand.โ€

All of my training is based on empowerment through understanding, we all perform better when we understand what is being asked of us, whether we are human or canine and it is my number one priority that everyone I work with will take away a deep rooted understanding and an enjoyment of learning.

I offer a range of training packages from Canine Hoopers to Customer Service to Train the Trainer and business coaching. All of my training is bespoke to the audience and draws from over 18 years experience as a trainer and assessor in both fields and boardrooms and is hoped to be both beneficial and enjoyable and I only employ modern, force free training techniques (with both people and dogs!)
