This week for , goes to our lovely vet Adam🩺

Hello. My name is Adam. 👋🏼

I have worked at Buttercross since January of this year.

My favourite thing about being a vet is the variety in cases🐾

Outside of work I enjoy walking my dog Monty, spending time with my family and being a member of my local theatre group 🎭

An interesting fact about me is I have been the front and the back end of a pantomime horse! 🐎
What a lovely chap, make sure you get tickets to catch him in the next panto🎬

THANKYOU FOR SHARING REUNITED WITH OWNER 11.45am

‼️‼️IMPORTANT‼️‼️

We have had a 6 year old female Beagle handed into our East Bridgford surgery this morning. She is chipped but we are unable to get through to the contact details.
She was found wondering round Whatton church by a member of the public.
She is a very sweet and happy girl missing her owners, she is uninjured and safe at our East Bridgford surgery.

Our phone lines are being intermittent - if you think this dog may belong to you please come down to the surgery - proof of ownership will be required.

How about some tiny little toe beans to get you in the mood?🥹🫘♥️

This week's we say hello to Vet Dawn🥰

Hello my name is Dawn👋🏼

I have worked at Buttercross for 1 year but have been a vet for 16 years now.

My favourite thing about being a Veterinary Surgeon is surgery - ensuring good tissue handing and surgical technique to ensure our patients are comfortable and heal quickly.🧑🏼‍⚕️❤️‍🩹

Outside of work I enjoy walking with my dog Luna and building Lego kits.

An interesting fact about me is, I once did a solo static line parachute jump for charity.🪂
Well, who knew our Dawny was a secret skydiver?!🥰

The first of our from the Vets, goes to our lovely lovely Jen♥️

Hello my name is Jen👋🏼

I have worked at Buttercross for just over a year and have been a vet for 13 years.

My favourite things about being a vet are the huge variety of cases that we see, I LOVE ultrasound scanning but the absolute best bit is all the cuddles we get from your pets.😍

An interesting fact about me is that I am originally from the North East and I’m regularly found up there visiting my family.🥰

If you're lucky enough to see Jen for a consultation, don't forget to give her a 'wey aye pet'🙌🏼

☎️Once again, the phone lines at East Bridgford are not connecting properly.☎️

If you have an emergency please go straight to the East Bridgford surgery.

We apologise for any inconvenience, although these IT issues are beyond our control we are working so hard to try and resolve them.

Is there a better way to get in the spirits than with a cheeky little tongue blem from Mau-Mau, who was very much enjoying her pre-medication✌🏼😍

Black cats seem to be less desirable, and often the last chosen from rescue centres, because apparently they are difficult to photograph ... But we think gorgeous Mau-Mau proves that is nonsense!🐾
Share a photo of your beautiful black cats in the comments 🐈‍⬛🖤

Hello June, and hello to our new Star Patient of The Month ✨Rogue✨

Last month, after an unusual season, gentle giant Rogue became under the weather and started showing signs of lethargy, inappetence and she had a feverish temperature🌡️
After a quick ultrasound, it was very obvious Rogue had a pyometra. (This is where the uterus becomes infected and filled with pus)

Rogue's pyometra was closed, which means there is a risk of internal rupture - so emergency surgery was required, and a whopping 1.85kg of infected uterus was removed.

Thankfully, Rogue's recovery was smooth and easy and she's now back to her usual, lovely self🥰
Well done Roguey, and a massive thanks to Rogue's parents for bringing in some well needed goodies for the staff👏🏼♥️

Our final (but by no means least) from the nursing team, goes to our first year Student Nurse, Emily🤗

Hello my name is Emily👋🏼

I have worked at Buttercross for almost two years now and am in my first year of my nursing apprenticeship course.

My favourite thing about being a Student Veterinary Nurse is learning new things everyday and meeting all your lovely pets. 😍

Outside of work I enjoy going for long walks with my two dogs, Lilly (a springador) and Bea (a sprocker)🐶🐶

An Interesting fact about me is, I have a 13 year old thoroughbred gelding called Dougie who still loves to go on long hacks!🏇🏻
I have also just finished helping my dad renovate his new house 👷🏼‍♀️
If we ever need any DIY around the practice we know who to call👍🏼

One-Eyed-Mary is here to remind you that microchipping cats will be a ✨legal requirement✨ from the 10th June!😺

Microchipping can be done by a Vet Nurse from as little as £17 (or free if you are part of the Healthy Pet Club scheme)

As it's the final day of we thought what better opportunity to give a shout out to our fabulous nursing team🩺

Whether you're a Patient Care Assistant, Student Vet Nurse or Registered Vet Nurse you are an invaluable part of the veterinary industry and we couldn't run the practice without you ❤️‍🩹

A massive thank you to our nurses who come into work every day for the animals🩺🐱🐶🐰♥️

🩺 Did you know🩺 Veterinary Nursing isn't always "cuddling puppies and kittens all day" ... But sometimes it is just that🥰

Our days are usually very fast paced and very high stress, so when we do get the opportunity to have a little cuddle, we relish it!💚

On this week's we're getting to know our Student Vet Nurse, Tacha🤗

Hello my name is Tacha👋🏼

I have worked at Buttercross for nearly 3 years, but I've wanted to be a Veterinary Nurse since I was 8 years old. I have always been a lover of animals just like my grandad ♥️

My favourite thing about being a Student Veterinary Nurse is nurse consults, especially socialisation sessions where I try to help nervous dogs get over their fear of coming to see us☹️

Outside of work and alongside training, I am also a full time mum to my 15 year old daughter Tilly, my dog Lilly and 4 cats, Tiddles, Wotsit, Annie and Gus 🐱

When I'm not at work, you will usually find me and Tilly in London as we love West End shows and she aspires to be on the west end stage herself one day🙂

An interesting fact about me is, I acquired 2 of my cats since working at the practice.. What can I say? I am a sucker for a sob story and I just couldn't say no🤷🏻‍♀️ ... I am also a keen crafter when I have the time

Well Tacha, it sounds like you need a strong cup of tea and a good rest!

🩺Did you know🩺 It takes Veterinary Nurses between 3 and 5 years to qualify and become Registered?👩🏼‍⚕️

For most, the love of animals from a young age drives them on to this career path and you can really tell, within the Buttercross team, that love is absolutely still very much there🥰

Hear some inspirational tips on ‘progression’ from our RVN Danielle Toft, who wanted to become a veterinary nurse after undertaking work experience in practice, seeing how diverse the job role was, and wanting be a part of making a profound difference to the lives of animals.

Danielle works first opinion practice at Evolution Animal Care (Vets) near Doncaster and is currently on a 12 month secondment at Bristol Vet Specialists working as as a sole cardiology nurse.

🌟 Focus on what you enjoy. The beauty of being a veterinary nurse is that there is a huge variety of areas/disciplines that we work in. If you find an area that you enjoy, this will bring much greater job satisfaction because there is so much to learn! We can further develop our skills in so many different disciplines and really love our role in the industry.

🌟 Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Making big decisions such as nursing abroad or moving practice can be scary but will bring so many opportunities. You will meet amazing friends within the industry and learn from extraordinary people.

🌟 Don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone has their own journey and working in the veterinary profession can sometimes be daunting as there are so many knowledgeable people. However, everyone starts their own journey somewhere and your goal may be totally different to others; so, learn, enjoy and be unique.

This week for we're getting to know our 3rd (and final) year Student Nurse, lovely Lauren👏🏼

Hello my name is Lauren 👋🏼
I have worked at Buttercross for 2 and a half years!

My favourite thing about being a Student Veterinary Nurse is taking my time with our anxious patients and achieving tasks that we didn’t think were possible! It’s very satisfying 🥰

Outside of work I enjoy getting outdoors with my large scruffy dog, Albus, as well as keeping fit, eating lots of food with my friends and running a health and wellness business on the side! 💞

An interesting fact about me is that I turned 30 last year and went to loads of festivals to celebrate! 🎧
Watch this space as Lauren has now finished her training and creeps closer to exam results😬🤓 We're behind you every step of the way Lauren, Good Luck🍀

Lilly is giving us the feeling today😍

Lilly has a real fear of having her paws held and even has to be sedated just to have her claws clipped .. but with lots of time, patience and reassurance, we were able to put her IV catheter in and administer medication while she remained fully conscious!🥳

Well done Lilly, you definitely deserve the certificate of bravery!🏅👏🏼

On this week's we say hello to Charley👋🏼

Hello, I'm Charley and I have worked at Buttercross for nearly 5 years now

My favourite thing about being a Registered Veterinary Nurse is caring for your pets. I always treat our patients as if they were my own and give them the love and attention I would expect my own pets to receive🥰

Outside of work, you'll usually find me in the Peak District, or mooching about in a field at home with the light of my life, Nancy, my 2 year old Jackapoo. I also have two cats, Billy and Rupert, who keep me on my toes!🐶🐈‍⬛🐈

An interesting fact is, Nancy was born via emergency caesarean at the practice, I resuscitated her and then was fortunate enough to keep her... So you could say I fell in love with her from the second she was born! (I absolutely did!😍)

Charley has a soft spot for a scruffy terrier, so if you visit the practice, you'll usually see her coo-ing at reception at every Jack Russell that comes in the door♥️

A very special today, as we wave goodbye to our lovely Sophie, who leaves us to embark on her maternity leave🤰🏼

We wish you all the best Soph, and we can't wait to meet your little bundle of joy when she arrives - but for now, put your feet up and enjoy some peace and quiet while you can!🩷👶🏼

🩺Did you know, Veterinary Nursing is not always as glamorous as it may seem?🩺

While we love taking care of your pets, our days aren't filled with "cuddling cute puppies and kittens all day" ..

Despite having ample opportunities to toilet outside, some patients just prefer to let us know how they really feel with a protest 💩 .. or by eating something they really shouldn't at home, resulting in emergency induced vomiting🤢

For today's , we're introducing our awesome Orla🥰

Hi I'm Orla👋🏼

I've worked at Buttercross for nearly three years now and absolutely love it.

I am particularly interested in surgical nursing and all things related to anatomy 🩻

In my spare time I enjoy going to concerts and am also a bit of a house plant fanatic. I can tell you the Latin names for most house plants (which is extremely pointless as I don't work in a garden centre but, I suppose this is an interesting fact about me!) 🤓

I'm very proud to be a veterinary nurse and feel extremely lucky to do a job I enjoy this much every day 🐾
And we are so proud to have you as part of our wonderful team and Buttercross Family, Orla♥️

Our next is our lovely Registered Nurse Becca.

Hello, my name is Becca👋🏼

I have worked at Buttercross for almost 2 years.

My favourite thing about being a Registered Veterinary Nurse is being in theatre and monitoring the patients whilst they are under anaesthetic, keeping them safe and toasty warm☺️ I also love doing blood pressure clinics on your senior pets!

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my horse Kate, and walking my 2 cocker spaniels, Dylan and Alfie, followed by a glass of wine at the pub!

An interesting fact about me is, I’m currently studying a Level 5 Diploma in advanced veterinary nursing 🤓👩🏻‍⚕️

Very clever Becca, we wish all the luck in the world with your diploma🎓🩺
