Both indoor and outdoor rabbits require vaccinations to keep them safe from infectious disease. Young rabbits are particularly vulnerable to serious illnesses, so it’s important to get them vaccinated early.
Rabbits can be vaccinated from five weeks old and will need yearly booster vaccinations throughout their life to maintain immunity.

Flystrike happens more often in warm weather, and in rabbits who have soiled fur (often due to poor diet, obesity or arthritis). Throughout the spring and summer rabbits must be checked twice daily and any soiled fur cleaned. If you find any sign of fly eggs or maggots you must arrange for your rabbit to see a vet as soon as possible. For more information about Flystrike: vetcollection.co.uk/health/conditions/flystrike

Our pets are part of the family and we want to share fun experiences with them – including taking them on holiday! While this often results in great fun and wonderful memories, there are a few things to consider first. A bit of planning beforehand goes a long way towards making it a positive experience for everyone.

There is no denying the fact that dogs can help to alleviate stress in the workplace. In
fact, a survey conducted by The Kennel Club revealed that 70% of people think dogs reduce stress within a working environment, and even stroking a dog is said to reduce
blood pressure. Is your four-legged friend taking a trip to your workplace today?

Are you looking to travel abroad with your pet this summer? If you are, you will be required to obtain an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for them. An AHC needs to be issued by an Official Veterinarian (OV). Check with your veterinary practice to see if they have a qualified OV because not every practice will have one. Today we say a very sad goodbye to Kirsty Maskell one of our senior vets. She is leaving us to complete a residency in a referral practice.
Kirsty has not only been a vet but a big part of the Animed family for many years and she will be sorely missed. We are sure she will be very successful in everything she does and they will be very lucky to have her.
Over her time at Animed Kirsty has saved the lives of many patients and is very valued with colleagues and clients alike.
Good luck Kirsty we will miss you very much, we wish you all the best with your bright future ❤️

Good evening

Sorry I haven't posted any updates lately as we were hoping to report things moving forward. Unfortunately this is still not the case.

As of now our background infrastructure (Internet, Wifi, Phones and peripheral services) has remained up and stable.

But, our Practice Management System and, to a lesser degree, our various Emails, have not.

Because of this we are still unable to resume a normal service.

We apologise for this and again thank you for your patience and understanding.

Once again can we ask, if you have non-urgent and non date contingent needs for your pets, can you delay these until we can advise otherwise.

We are still open and able to care for your pets.

Thank you

Alex

Good morning

Charlotte, one of our vets, has a good suggestion...
If you are coming in for a check involving repeat medication, can you either bring the old pack with its prescription label or take a photo of this.

Thanks

Good morning
A quick request...
If your pets are due to come in for vaccinations, can you bring their vaccination cards with you.

We still have no Practice Management System or Email. But, a lot of background infrastructure is now up and running again.

Good evening
Sorry for the delay in my daily update but things are starting to move in the right direction. Thanks to our IT teams who have been working 24/7.

- All our sites (Shedfield, Cowplain, Hedge End & Locks Heath) now have working phones.
- Our IT department are testing the network capacity as a precursor to getting some of our critical systems up and running again.
We still do not have working Email, Internet or Practice Management systems but are hopeful that these will be running again soon.

Our receptionists have a thankless job at the moment dealing with issues completely out of their control - so, a big thank you for your patience and understanding - it is really appreciated.

Once again, can we ask you to delay booking non-urgent items for the next few days

Thanks

Alex

Good Afternoon
A sensitive post and our deepest apologies for having to request this in such a way due to having technical difficulties across the practice.
If you have lost your beloved pet over last few weeks and are waiting for their ashes please contact the hospital on 01329 833112 and we can advise if their ashes are back in our care ❤️ 🌈
Thank you

Good morning
We still have ongoing IT issues but our IT team is slowly but surely working through these. Once again, thank you for your patience.

Please expect delays if you call us or come to see us in person. Our email is still not accessible at all times so we cannot guarantee a timely response.

Thanks

Alex
Practice Director

01/04/2024

Good morning, our IT issues have not been rectified yet.

If you have a non-urgent appointment over the next few days, would you please consider not coming in and rescheduling once our systems are up and running again.

For those of you who still need to keep your appointment, expect delays as we need to work and record manually.

Thanks

Alex
Practice Director

31/03/2024

Good Morning
We continue to have widespread IT issues beyond our control. But, our dedicated Vets, Nurses and Receptionists are still providing care for your pets. Currently we have no internet, no Practice Management System, no email and no phone system.

We are still open 24/7 but, as you can appreciate, processes are manual and far slower.

We only have 1, diverted to mobile, incoming and outgoing phone line.

So, unless your call is absolutely urgent can you please avoid calling us for now. If you do need to call please call our main number - 01329 833112.

Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Alex
Practice Director

30/03/2024

Good Morning
We are experiencing major IT issues across the CVS group, which we are part of. This includes our Practice Management System and may cause our phones to become unavailable. If you see this message and have a non-urgent booking at our hospital today, please reschedule for another day.

I apologise for any inconvenience and will post updates when we know more.

29/02/2024

As a CVS practice, here at Animed we take sustainability very seriously. Our approach is to reduce, reuse and recycle our waste wherever possible. We are also investing in a range of interventions to conserve energy, increase energy efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint.
In the last year, we achieved a 5.6% reduction in our annual medical waste. In 2024, we aim to reduce our medical waste by a further 5%.
Here are some examples of what we do in practice to become more environmentally friendly:
- Separate plastic and paper from wrappers we use frequently such as needles and syringes. These are then disposed of separately.
- Saving energy where possible, such as turning lights and computers off when not in use
- Segregating food waste which gets composted
- printer toner cartridge recycling scheme
- Battery recycling
- Avoiding single-use items where possible

Are you able to make changes at home to become more sustainable and environmentally friendly?
