🌟ENRICHMENT IDEA OF THE WEEK🌟
This one is for the bunnies🐰
Using baby stacking cups for bunnies can be a fun way to provide mental enrichment. Bunnies can push them around, explore them, and even try to stack them up. It's a simple and inexpensive way to keep your bunny entertained and engaged!
Simply pop their food or treats between each layer and watch them have fun, just like Teddy is demonstrating below🩷

He spent the day with us to have his teeth burred down under general anaesthetic. 🐰
Rabbits are more prone to dental health problems than cats and dogs, this is because they have open rooted teeth, so they are constantly growing! They grow by approximately 2mm every week. If rabbits teeth grow too long they stop being able to meet the bottom teeth- this is known as malocclusion. 🦷
Feeding your bunny the correct diet is super important to ensure their teeth stay in good condition. A rabbits diet should consist of at least 85% hay or grass. Feeding your rabbits the correct nutrients will also help keep their teeth healthy.
Symptoms of dental problems in your rabbit can include:
-Drooling
-Loosing weight
-Grooming themselves less
-Inappetance
Regular check ups at the vets are super important to ensure your bunnies teeth are in tip top condition! 🐰🦷

Mental enrichment is super important for pets, just like how we need mental stimulation to stay sharp. It helps keep our furry friends happy, healthy, and engaged. Activities like puzzle toys, training sessions, and interactive games can provide mental exercise and prevent boredom. It's crucial for their overall well-being!

These can be used for cats and dogs and come in many different shapes & designs modelled by Buddy below 🥰
Slow feeders for dogs are great tools to help slow down their eating pace. They have obstacles or patterns that make dogs work a bit harder to get their food, which can prevent issues like bloating, obesity, and improve digestion. It's a great way to promote healthier eating habits for our furry friends!

This little sweetie came in for some X-rays, Buddy has a grade 3/6 heart murmur so we did some chest X-rays to assess his heart.
A heart murmur is an abnormal sound heard when listening to a dog's heart with a stethoscope. It's like a "whooshing" sound caused by turbulent blood flow within the heart. Heart murmurs can vary in intensity and can be a sign of underlying heart disease or other health issues.
As he had some enlargement of his heart he has started a new medication for this.

A massive thank you to everyone who got involved with fundraising for our outgoing colleagues’ charity of the year Guide Dogs UK.
We have made a £20,000 donation as result of the great fundraising activities that our colleague have taken part in throughout the year.
This year’s fundraising has been bolstered by the phased rollout of the Pennies micro-donation service across our companion animal first opinion and referral sites. Pennies gives clients paying by chip and pin the option to round their payment up to the nearest whole pound, meaning donations could be anything between 1p and 99p. We’re pleased to reveal that Guide Dogs UK will receive £48,000 via the Pennies scheme!
Our outgoing colleagues’ charity will now receive a final total donation of £68,000, which is a fantastic result!
Guide Dogs UK are delighted and very grateful for our colleagues’ support.

This cutie came in for BOAS surgery, this stands for Bracycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome
This condition is often seen in flat- faced dog breeds and refers to the range of problems they can have which causes issues with their breathing.
Some signs of BOAS include:
-Snoring
-Sleep apnea or sleeping problems (frequently waking)
-Increased effort during breathing
-Exercise intolerance
-Blue/ grey tinge to gums
-Excessive panting even when resting
-Collapse
One of the treatment options for this condition is surgery to help improve their breathing by:
-Shortening of the soft palate
-Widening the nostrils
-Removing the laryngeal saccule
Casper had his nostrils widened and his soft palate shortened to help with his breathing.

veterinary treatment, is often fatal.

This cutie came to see us as he was rubbing his face and had very smelly breath, upon examination his upper canine had a mild amount of tartar and he had very sore gums. When we pressed on his gum above the tooth some pus was expressed.
Reggie spent the day at our Blythe Bridge practice to have this canine tooth removed
