Hello everyone.

We would like to make all rabbit owners aware of a possible local outbreak of viral haemorrhagic disease.

This can cause sudden death and up to 90% exposed to it will die.
We recommend keeping a close eye on your rabbits and avoid free roaming outside at the moment.

Vaccines are also available to protect your pet so please call the surgery if yours isn’t covered!

❗️❗️Latest update for clients ❗️❗️

Restrictions nationwide as of Monday are to be lifted. However, due to several members of staff having to now self isolate, we as a practice will be continuing with our current protocol. This means we will still continue to ask clients to wait on the car park and will only be able to allow people in to accompany their pet if it is a life or death situation.

We kindly ask for your continued support and understanding as we carry on providing services to you whilst working with reduced staffing levels.

Many thanks
Hope Vets 🐾🐾

We would like to make cat owners aware, but please do not panic.

We have become aware of an increase in cats within the UK falling ill with pancytopenia (symptoms below). The Royal Veterinary College London are leading investigations into this.
So far it seems there MAY be a link to one cat food manufacturing establishment, which is used by several different brands.

We must emphasize that IF the cause, this is likely be traced back to a small number of individual batch number/s and date of manufacturer.

However, we feel there is enough evidence at the moment along with the severity of illness caused to advise not feeding dry food with the following establishment registration number: GB218E5009. The photo shows examples of this number on bags.

Again- at present we do NOT know that this is the definite cause, or which individual batch numbers or dates may be effected. We will update you as soon as we hear more from the RVC.

Temporarily use an alternative food with a different establishment number e.g Royal Canin, Hills or Purina ProPlan.

Do not throw your bag away. Do not rush to return bags or contact the manufacturers yet.

Brands manufactured at this establishment include:
Applaws,
Sainsburys,
AVA

Pancytopenia is reduced levels of red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.
Symptoms include: Lethargy. High temperature. Pale gums. Blood in the urine or faeces (faeces will usually be dark black). Small areas of bruising to the skin or gums.
If you notice any of these symptoms contact your vet immediately.

We believe there have been around 80 cases, so compared to the whole cat population a small percentage and we do not want to cause panic. However, severe pancytopenia is usually a rare condition, so this increase is concerning and warrants investigation.

If you think your cat may have been affected please ask you vet to complete this questionnaire: rvc.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/pancytopenia

Message for our clients -

As the lockdown restrictions are being eased we are starting to perform more routine procedures and appointments at the practice. Unfortunately, as would be expected, we have somewhat of a backlog of patients for procedures that were cancelled, or we were unable to perform due to previous restrictions.

We are now working as one team but with precautions in place to still protect ourselves and our clients. This means that we are still, however, unable to accommodate clients inside the building to accompany your pets to the appointment.

Please be aware that there may be an extended period of waiting for appointments as we are extremely busy and appointments are taking longer than usual. We apologies for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to rectify this and we appreciate your understanding and patience with this.

We are no longer taking on any new clients at the moment so that we can concentrate on existing clients and their pets.

‼️ information notice for clients‼️
Can we please make clients aware, that one of the more popular insurance companies has a clause in their terms and conditions of some policies, saying that if you breed your dog, your insurance cover for EVERY condition will become null and void. Please check your insurance policies carefully if you are planning to breed from your dog.

🚦🚦Tier 4 update 🚦🚦

Due to tonight’s announcement of this area moving into Tier 4 as of tomorrow, we would like to assure all clients that we will be open as we have been throughout.

Routine procedures will unfortunately now be delayed, but we WILL still be seeing emergencies and ill pets, dispensing medications (this includes appointments to review long term medication also) and doing more telephone consultations.

We would also like to remind everyone that if you attend the practice, to please wear a face covering or mask (unless exempt) and that we are operating a one in one out system in reception.

Everyone at Hope Vets would like to wish all of our clients a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! We’d also like to thank everyone for their continued support for what has been a difficult year for everyone! Stay safe everyone! 🐾🐾🐾

We have a stray young Budgie at the practice! It was found in the garden of a member of the public in the Hartshill area last night, very friendly and not injured but we’re keen to reunite with an owner!

🚦Tier 2 Update 🚦

Just to reassure clients that we are still open as normal despite our move into Tier 2.

The practice is still running with all members of staff split into 2 teams, this is so that we can continue to provide services to our clients should a member of staff test positive and one of the teams are all required to self isolate at any point

🚦We kindly ask that you continue with your support and patience with us during these difficult times. Our staff are working exceptionally hard to continue to work through the backlog of pets who are, or were, due to be vaccinated or neutered during our emergency only period during lockdown, as well as dealing with any emergencies or other appointments that arrive on a daily basis.

🚦We appreciate this is a strange time for everyone but unfortunately we do still need to keep working this way to keep staff and clients safe.

🚦We are still operating a one in one out policy into reception and ask that everyone entering the building wears a face covering (unless exempt). Can we also remind everyone to check in at reception when attending for an appointment and to also leave the door area clear so staff are able to walk freely and safely with any pets they are collecting from owners. Unfortunately waiting times have increased slightly so we would advise clients to arrive 5 minutes before their appointments to prevent a longer than necessary wait and this will also assist in maintaining social distancing

🚦We have a QR code displayed for the NHS track and trace app and would encourage clients to use this to check in. We also politely ask that if yourself or a member of your family are showing any symptoms that you DO NOT attend the surgery.

🚦If you are unable to attend for an appointment or operation slot then please let us know ASAP!

Everyone at Hope Vets would like to say a massive thank you for your continued support during the last few months.

‼️ Thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding yesterday whilst we had technical issues with our phone lines....all are back up and running as normal today 👍🏻‼️

😷😷 could we please remind clients who will be visiting the practice that, as of today and due to new government guidance, face masks must be worn if entering the building unless exempt for medical reasons😷😷

🐶🐱🐹🐰 could we also remind any clients who are arriving for appointments to please check in at reception upon arrival, either by giving us a quick call from the car park or popping your head into reception 🐶🐱🐹🐰

07/08/2020

‼️ Unfortunately there is a BT outage in the area meaning our phone lines are currently down, we are hoping the engineer will rectify the situation ASAP! ‼️

🌈 VACCINATION UPDATE 🌈

We are now able to start reintroducing some vaccinations back into our services.

In order to try and alleviate some of the back log we are opening a VACCINATION CLINIC from THURSDAY 28th MAY- SATURDAY 30th MAY.

Currently we are ONLY able to carry out:
💫Puppy and Kitten first vaccines
💫Puppy and Kitten second vaccines
💫First year booster vaccines only
💫Rabbit vaccinations
💫Rabies vaccinations

We will then accommodate a limited number of vaccinations per day each day starting next week.
We appreciate everyone is anxious to ensure their pet is vaccinated but please bear with us as we are still running on skeleton staff and we are extremely busy with urgent and emergency appointments.

Once again thank you for your patience and continued support.

Why not post your photos of your furry family members to join in! 🐾🐾

As the weather warms up we would like to remind all our clients to follow the government advice and 🐾 ☀️

Our dedicated staff are still here to look after your furry friends in an emergency but we ask that all our clients follow government guidelines when visiting the practice in order to keep everyone safe.

On advice of the Royal College and BVA we are not currently seeing any routine or non urgent appointments. This is for everyone’s safety and to maximise social distancing.

Our phone lines are open for advice and whilst we are currently experiencing a very high volume of calls we will do our very best to get to you as soon as we can. Please don’t make any unecessary journeys 🏡

Everyone at Hope Vets would like to say a massive thank you to these guys who have been holding the fort for us so far this week as well as Hannah on reception!

Team B are ready and waiting to take over tomorrow to give Clare, Esme, Pia, Ali
and Hannah a well earned break!

The pizza was kindly organised by another member of staff to help to keep them going!

Behind the scenes all staff are in constant communication for many reasons but the main one being to keep morale going ❤️

These are difficult times for everyone and, for those members of staff who are taking a step back so that our teams can continue to provide a service for you, more so.

For a profession whose main aim each day when we go to work is to help you as clients and your pets, it is truly heartbreaking that we can’t all play our part through this time BUT we are all still here, supporting those who are keeping the Hope Vets flag flying and we will all be back as soon as we possibly can be!

Thank you to all of our clients for their continued support at this time and from everyone at Hope Vets....stay safe!
