Currently offering dog daycare on Mondays & Thursdays $35 per day, overnight homestay is now closed. We cannot accept excessive barkers or howlers!

The service we offer is looking after your dog in our own private home. Your dog would need to be well behaved and used to being inside a home. It would also need to be desexed, fully housetrained, up to date with vaccinations, flea & worm treatment, socialised with all other dogs (big and small) and it needs to be good with cats. If your dog has separation anxiety, please let us know. Similarly,
if your dog is a chewer or is destructive in any way (digging holes in the lawn, chewing shoes, plants etc) please discuss this with us during the initial visit. We do reserve the right to seek reimbursement if your dog causes damage to our property or possessions. New clients are requested to bring their dog for a short visit before we can accept their booking as we need to view your dog interacting with the others to ensure there are no issues with aggression, or toileting inside the house etc. During the initial visit, owners need to ensure that our fencing is suitable for their dog. We take every possible care and have never lost a dog, but we cannot be held responsible if your dog is a jumper or digger, and manages to escape our fencing. Visits are by appointment, and please bring their vaccinations records with you. As this is a communal environment, it is best suited to dogs who are very social and enjoy the company of others. This is a great place for them to make new doggy friends and run and play all day. We give a high level of care and attention to our doggy guests, but owners must accept that there are natural risks involved with free running and free play etc. We cannot accept responsibility for accidents that may occur when dogs are free running and playing, or for any other loss, illness or accident that may occur outside of our control. The benefits of course are well worth it when your dog goes home tired and happy! I am a qualified Canine Behaviour Counsellor, so you know your dog is in safe hands! I also have a Diploma in Canine Behaviour and have worked with dogs for over 25 years. PRICING:
Flat rate of $35 per day
If your dog is toileting inside the house, we reserve the right to charge a "soiling fee" based on the frequency and severity of the issue.

Introducing the adorable Alexei 💕 This pup is approximately 6 months old and came into the Kerikeri SPCA as an unclaimed stray. He has now spent most of his life in the shelter and he really REALLY wants a forever home. Alexei is like a baby giraffe, he has long lanky legs and big clumsy feet so is likely to be a big boy. He loves playing with other dogs and is full of enthusiasm for life. He does find young children stressful but would be fine with teenagers. As he has been with us for a while (too long) he qualifies for the current Long Stay campaign so his adoption fee will be waived for the right person. Only 1 week left of the current campaign so come and meet this handsome boy! 🐾
This gorgeous pup is approx 9 months old, he was brought into the SPCA as a puppy (with his mother & siblings) and then subsequently adopted out to a lovely family. Unfortunately it was discovered that a young family member was allergic to dogs so they made the very difficult decision to return Cooper to our care. He has only been back at the SPCA for a week or two and is sadly very stressed and unhappy in the shelter, after having experienced a loving home.
Cooper needs a forever home as soon as possible, he is a very sweet and friendly pup with a lot of love to give. He is great with kids and adores other dogs to play with.
Please come and visit him at the Kerikeri SPCA, or you can register online to adopt him using the link below 🐾
Cooper is available for adoption at SPCA Kerikeri Centre.

Hi everyone, I need to let you all know that we have made the extremely difficult decision to close the Homestay. We’ve been operating for 8 years or so and the 7 day per week commitment has just become too tiring and restrictive - we need to get our lives back! Also the house is in desperate need of attention as we need to repaint, re-carpet etc after all these years of doggies. We will close at the end of September - all existing bookings such as Xmas & New Year will of course be honoured, so those of you that have booked in then, please don’t stress. We will miss our doggie guests terribly, but everything eventually comes to an end 😥 Thanks for trusting me with your lovely dogs up to this point, it’s been a crazy ride! 🤪

My lunchtime entertainment - daycare dogs having a blast
Little 3 month old Poppy was scared of big dogs, this is her 3rd day visit and she’s made huge progress! Bear has been a very gentle big sister today 💕
Poor lil Bruce Wayne, there’s no hope of him ever catching the athletic Kilo but he keeps trying 🤣🤣🤣
At 13yrs old, the gorgeous Tank doesn’t seem to realise that he’s an elderly fella 🤣
If anyone wonders why we don’t separate big dogs from small…. this is why. Big dogs should learn to handicap themselves and be a bit gentler with small dogs, and small dogs should learn that big dogs aren’t scary. These 2 have never met before today 😃
Just your typical Friday night 🙄
Kilo is just too fast for little Riley 🤣
So nice to have some SUN!! Indy, Olee and Lockie making the most of it, little Austin prefers to watch the craziness ☀️
Indy’s first stay with us, I think she’s enjoying herself 🤣 Can always rely on a Viszla to liven things up!
No real idea what the attraction was with shredding my old palm fronds, but at least they were helping to mulch them down for me
The service I offer is looking after your dog in my own home. Your dog would need to be well behaved and used to being inside a home. It would also need to be desexed, fully housetrained, up to date with vaccinations, flea & worm treatment, socialised with all other dogs (big and small) and it needs to be ok around cats. Entire dogs will not generally be accepted due to their tendency to scent mark inside the house. Unspeyed bi***es will only be accepted if their heat cycle will not coincide with their visit here. It is dangerous to ourselves and our doggie guests with possible hormone related aggression, not to mention drawing every entire dog in Kerikeri on to our property! If a female does go into season while they are staying with us, we charge an additional $10 per day to cover carpet cleaning (due to spotting) and other extra work that this creates. We also cannot accept excessive barkers or howlers! If your dog has separation anxiety, please inform us. Similarly, if your dog is a chewer or is destructive in any way, please let us know. We do expect that if your dog causes any damage to our home or contents, then the item will be repaired/replaced at your cost.
New clients are requested to come for a short visit with their owner before staying here, as this helps them to settle in better when they come to stay. We also need to view them interacting with other dogs to ensure there are no aggression issues. Visits are by appointment, and are arranged on a day that we are not full with homestay dogs.
There are no kennels or cages/runs here; the dogs live in our home and are loved just like our own dog Elmo. Elmo is a Labrador/Golden Retriever who adores other dogs to play with, and we also have 3 cats. As this is a private home, we try not to have more than 5-6 dogs staying here (this includes Elmo). That way all the dogs still get individual attention with playtime, cuddles etc. Our property is a communal environment for the dogs, so it is best suited to dogs who enjoy the company of others. This is a great place for them to socialise, make new friends and run and play all day. The dogs are very well supervised and managed, but owners must accept that there are natural risks in a communal environment. The benefits however, are well worth it when your dog goes home tired and happy!
The dogs have 2.5 acres to run around on which is fully fenced with wire mesh and dense planting. We do advise owners to check out the fencing when they come for the initial visit, to make sure that it is suitable for their dog. We give a very high level of care and attention to our doggy guests, but we do not accept responsibility for any loss, accident or illness that may occur outside of our control.
The cost for your dog to be cared for in our loving home environment is $30 per day for a small dog under 10kg, and $35 per day for all other dogs. This includes a daily 1 hour walk. There is no extra fee for dispensing medication, and there is no surcharge for public holidays and the Christmas/New Year period. Puppies under 8 months old will be charged at the $35 rate, as they require extra work with toileting, supervision etc.
Our service is 24hour care; they are not left in a kennel/run for several hours each day. The dogs here are cuddled, played with, walked and cared for just like they would be at home. The dogs sleep inside at night, usually on one of the couches or in bed with the kids!
You need to supply your dog’s usual food, as a sudden change of diet usually results in an upset tummy.
I am a qualified Canine Behaviour Counsellor, so you know that your dog is in safe hands! I also have a Diploma in Canine Behaviour through Massey University. I was a professional dog handler for 7 years in Auckland and at that time I also ran a private business doing in-home consultations for dogs with behaviour problems. I’ve had over 25 years experience in working with dogs; they are my passion :)

Please note that we reserve the right to charge for all the days booked, in the event that you decide to return early to collect your dog. We are often fully booked with a waiting list, and other dogs may have been turned away on those days booked for your dog. Similarly, if your dog is booked in and you decide to delay your trip and bring your dog a day or two later than initially arranged, we reserve the right to charge for those days booked.
We also reserve the right to charge for bookings if you cancel less than 7 days before your dog was due to arrive. This extends to 14 days before peak times like Christmas, Public holidays and school holidays. If someone else takes your cancelled booking then we will not charge you, but if we are unable to fill that vacancy then we will have to charge you for all days booked. We accept only a small number of dogs, so please bear in mind that often we have had to turn down other clients when your dog has been booked to stay with us.
If your dog requires veterinary attention whilst in our care, we will do our best to contact you first. If we are unable to contact you and we believe the matter cannot wait, we will transport your dog to the vet. The dog’s owner will be responsible for all costs incurred. Please inform your vet that your dog will be staying with us whilst you are away, in order to avoid any confusion.
There will be a minimum stay/charge of 7 days during the Christmas/New Year period (23 Dec - 6 Jan).
There are no set pick up/drop off times so we are very flexible. We do ask that on weekends and public holidays, drop offs are done after 9am out of consideration for our neighbours.
We sometimes have casual daycare available at $25 per day, if we are not already fully booked with homestay dogs. 4 hours or under is $15, 4 hours or over is $25.
