When you’re an adult black cat, it can be tough to catch the eye of an adopter, especially when there are so many other black cats at the shelter.
When you’re an adult black cat with the unfortunate name “Loonie” who takes a moment to trust, well, you wait in a cage for months…
Loonie is a wonderful cat who, upon arrival at our shelter, was so nervous and scared she acted, well "looney ".
She's really a sweet, gentle girl who needs to trust before she lets her guard down. Loonie allowed Staff Member Carolyn to hold her while Volunteer Colleen gave her a much needed mani-pedi this past Sunday.
Loonie is looking for a kind and patient person to give her a chance. She deserves all the love a good home can give.

Coco is a sweet, fun and outgoing 6 month female Mini Husky mix who is only 23lbs!
She is hoping that her sparkling blue eyes and awesome dance moves will finally attract her forever family!
Coco loves meeting new people, going on walks and playing with other dogs! She walks well on her leash and loves to learn.
Don’t be fooled by her small size— she has lots of energy and motivation to run, explore, sniff, and play with friends (both doggy and human). She would love to find a home with another dog, maybe even her pal Copito, another mini Husky mix here at the shelter. ❤️

I had the good fortune to meet this super handsome orange fellow with the most beautiful green eyes yesterday.
Garfield is a BIG (~20 lbs!) 4 yr old and VERY affectionate ❤️. He gives love chomps when enjoying your attention. Cat savvy folks understand kitty chomps, but he may be best suited for a home without small children who may not understand the meaning.

This handsome hunk o’ kitty love is CatTu!
CatTu is 3 yrs old. He’s a big boy with a big ole cat head he likes to bonk into you to ask for pets!
CatTu gives little kisses and he did give me a couple chomps. If you’re a cat person you know that a chomp is an expression of appreciation or affection, but since his chomps were a little hard, we recommend a home with adults/teens (no small kiddos) who will understand his intent.

Ivy is a sweet, shy girl looking for a new home.
She has been waiting for a while now (she arrived in 2023 😟) -- probably because she is shy on the first meeting, but who can blame a girl? Once Ivy knows you she will warm right up, showing her desire for affection by rubbing against your legs.
Ivy is a fan of wand toys and would love a quieter home where someone will play with her! She also has a stuffed carrot toy she loves to kick and wrestle with.
Ivy is ok with other respectful cats.
She is 3 1/2 yrs old, spayed, UTD on vaccines, and ready to go home! 🏡 💕

Zeus (brindle - 1 yr), Kash (small lab - 1 yr), and KJ (black & white - 7 mos) spent a little time in the play yard today, having fun and burning off some youthful energy!
With consistent training to polish their good boy skills, all have the potential to become wonderful pets.
It’s important to remember that when introducing dogs in an open play setting (like a dog park), ensure compatibility, monitor activity, and take breaks when a dog starts to tire out or show signs of unwanted behavior. These boys had a great time under staff supervision and as they started to wind down, they returned to their kennels to greet potential adopters (and have a good drink!).

Eternity is a sweet, quiet 4 year old cat in desperate need of getting out of the shelter.
This gentle soul is so stressed at the shelter. She sits quietly in her cage, not interacting, not saying”take me home” to visitors, so she’s essentially invisible. Open her cage and offer slow gentle pets and soft words, and she melts and purrs with gratitude.
The shelter vet thinks she has asthma so she takes a little prednisolone pill daily to feel comfortable. It’s a very inexpensive medication (about 13 cents per pill).
Eternity needs a quiet loving home where she will be given the time and patience to adjust to her new surroundings and blossom.
Please, please share her story and if you can offer her the home she needs, please come meet her. She truly is a sweet girl deserving of a home. 🏡 💕

Meet Ivy
Ivy is a pretty 4 yr old tabby who gets long with other cats. She gives great head bunts and enjoys playing with wand toys.
Ivy has been with us for months and she tends to get overlooked because she’s pudgy and may need a little time (just a little) to warm up to some people.
She’s a quiet girl looking for a quiet home, maybe with another cat and a person that will play with her.

Toodles grew up with a cat daddy! He passed away and when the coroners office arrived, Toodles followed one of the guys around the house. This smart girl had actually chosen a young man whose mom manages a cat rescue! He took Toodles to the rescue to keep her safe and loved until she could come to SRAS to find her forever home!

Whiskey
I stopped at the animal shelter today and visited with my favorite shelter cat, Whiskey.
This pretty tabby has been with us for more than 650 days. That’s more than half of her life!
Whiskey is a good girl who enjoys when you visit her. She stands up to say hello and collect pets. She also likes to give kisses, and if she gets a little excited, she will give chomps. Cat savvy folks know that chomps can mean she’s really enjoying your attention and sometimes it means I’ve had enough pets.
Whiskey loves scratchers and wand toys - flick a wand toy and she’s all about it! She’s a very tidy girl who enjoys lounging and watching the birds outside on the feeders. She doesn’t like other animals, so she’s looking for a home where she’s your queen - and your loving companion.
We love Whiskey. She deserves a good home, she just needs the right person to give her a chance.

This pretty girl was recently returned due to owner allergies. She often sits in the back of her cage looking heartbreakingly sullen. With a quiet approach and some soft words, she came to the front, eager for some attention!
