DOCTORS:
-Dr. Dana Kent and her husband, Dr. Scott Sears graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. Both entered into small animal practice following vet school. Over the years, Dr. Sears found that he enjoyed the fast-paced world of emergency veterinary medicine, while Dr. Kent preferred to be the "family practice" veterinarian. After 9 years in different
practices, Dominion Veterinary Hospital was born, officially opening in June 2000. Both doctors wanted to create a practice that was more than just a business, but one that created an extended family. Over the years, the mesh of Dr. Kent working full-time and Dr. Sears working part-time, along with a dedicated staff, we have been able to achieve our goal. To create a practice where quality veterinary medicine and surgery are performed along with a friendly, relaxed, and professional manner towards our clients. Thank you for allowing us the priviledge to care for you and your pets! VETERINARY STAFF:
-The staff at Dominion Vet may very in age and experience, but they all are here to serve our clients and our patients. Working in a veterinary hospital takes on many different roles. They are receptionists, assistants, animal caretakers, cleanup crews, a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on. Typically before you have reached the doctor, you have been greeted by the receptionist and attended to by an assistant. These people help to create the first impression and to set the 'tone' for one's visit.

Dr. Sears' garden is producing A LOT of squash and zucchini. He has brought it up to the clinic so Clients.. PLEASE take some home-grown veggies FREE home with you after you pet's visit.

Vincek Way Road Closure:
When: June 17-28, 2024
Why: Shillelagh Rd. Drainage Improvements
What does this mean: Our driveway will be Open to get into the hospital; however, clients will have to get to us via Scenic Parkway. Shillelagh Road and Vincek Way will be Closed during this time.

BOARDING IS COMPLETELY FULL WITH A WAITING LIST FOR THE NEXT 4 WEEKS. Just a reminder.. if you need to board your pets this summer.. call us early.. we are booking up and out very quickly.

We would like to wish all those that graduated from college and those that will be graduating from high school a big... CONGRATULATIONS!! What an accomplishment. We also send out a big High Five to one of our own employees, Kaylee. She will graduate from Grassfield High School next week.

Dr. Casey and Jason's Wedding: Saturday, May 18, 2024. We were able to join Dr. Casey yesterday to celebrate her marriage to her, now husband, Jason. So happy for them both! More pictures and possibly videos to come.

We will be CLOSED on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2024 We will ReOpen on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. As a reminder.. we will have afternoon boarding pickup (as usual) on Sunday, May 26th between 5-6pm. There will by no boarding p/u on Monday as we will be Closed.

Congrats to our groomer, Juan, and his wife, Taylor on the birth of their first child, a boy. He was born yesterday, May 7, which also happens to be Juan's birthday! We are so happy for both of them.

Dr. Kent and Dr. Sears were in Orlando this week for comtinuing education. Spent some time at Seaworld. The orcas where amazing! Posted a few pics. Dr. Sears did a behind the scenes tour so will post more of those photos later

Pancreatitis: Inflammation of the pancreas. Can cause vomiting, diarrhea, painful abdomen, not wanting to eat, and lethargy.
Causes: feeding pets red meats and pork (yes, this includes bacon), fatty foods like left over meat drippings/gravy/bones. Please do not feed your pets these types of foods. This is a condition that we see almost weekly in our dog and cat patients. Do not let those 'begging eyes' fool you, the results could be pancreatitis.
Treatment: Bloodwork, anti-nausea medications, pain meds, prescription diet, IV fluids if needed.

Happy New Year.. As a reminder.. NO Sunday night boarding pickups on Dec. 31st (New Years' Eve) and we will be CLOSED on Monday, Jan 1st (New Year's Day). We will reopen on Tuesday, Jan 2nd 2024. Have a safe and happy weekend. The sad part.. having to put all the Christmas decorations away until next year.
