While it's natural to want to share the joy of Thanksgiving with your pets, it's important to be mindful of what foods are safe for them to consume. Some Thanksgiving foods can be harmful or even toxic to pets. Here's a general guideline on what pets can and cannot have:

Thanksgiving Foods Pets Can Have (in moderation):
Turkey: Plain, cooked turkey without any seasoning is generally safe. Avoid giving them the skin, bones, and any seasoned or cooked with garlic and onions.

Sweet Potatoes: Plain, cooked sweet potatoes are a good source of vitamins for pets.

Plain Potatoes: Mashed or plain boiled potatoes without butter, salt, or other seasonings can be given in small amounts.

Plain Green Beans: Fresh or cooked green beans can be a healthy treat.

Plain Pumpkin: Pureed pumpkin (not pie filling) can be good for digestion.

Cranberries: Fresh cranberries or plain, unsweetened cranberry sauce in small amounts can be safe.

Carrots: Cooked or raw carrots can be a crunchy and healthy treat.

Thanksgiving Foods Pets Should Avoid:
Bones: Cooked bones can splinter and cause internal injuries. Avoid giving bones to your pets.

Onions and Garlic: These can be toxic to pets and should be avoided in all forms, including powdered or in dishes.

Stuffing: Many stuffing recipes contain ingredients that can be harmful to pets, such as onions, garlic, raisins, and sometimes nuts.

Nuts: Some nuts, like macadamia nuts, can be toxic to pets. Avoid giving them any nuts.

Fatty Foods: Too much fatty food, like turkey skin, can lead to pancreatitis in pets.

Gravy: Rich and fatty gravies can upset your pet's stomach, and ingredients like onions or garlic can be toxic.

Desserts: Keep all desserts, especially those containing chocolate, artificial sweeteners (like xylitol), and raisins, away from pets.

Alcohol: Alcoholic beverages are toxic to pets and can cause serious harm.

Dairy: Many pets are lactose intolerant, so it's best to avoid giving them dairy-based dishes.

Always consult with your veterinarian if you're unsure about whether a specific food is safe for your pet. Remember, moderation is key, and it's generally best to stick to your pet's regular diet to prevent digestive issues. If you want to treat your pet, consider preparing a small plate with safe ingredients just for them.
