Happy father's day from all of us at Northfield Veterinary Hospital!
We are now working with Scratchpay and their Take-5 program to accept payments on all visits over $35.00! If you've every bought something online through a program like Affirm or Afterpay, Scratchpay's Take 5 is very similar! Visit Scratchpay.com or email us at [email protected] to find out how to get signed up.
What happens when you give your doggie a kiss?
Yesterday we removed a Cuterebra or “bot fly larvae” from Wicker, one of the feral kittens we trapped in Conservatory Green. Rabbits and Squirrels are generally the normal hosts to complete the larvae cycle but occasionally we see them in dog and cats. These generally present as a painful swelling with a small round hole. A simple but very gratifying pull and this kitty is on his way to feeling better! *Don’t attempt this at home.*
A little Friday fun before you start your day. Have a magical weekend!
We are on rock watch here at Northfield Vet. Mr. Merlin presented to us this morning after ingesting a rock. We are excited to report it is moving through and should be making an appearance any second!
Some days we save lives other days we play with kittens
All dogs have been reunited and they are back where they belong! #luckiestpups!
Spring has sprung at Northfield Vet! #orphanrobin
Kitten season has arrived at Northfield Vet!
Meet Mr. Otis! Otis was presented to us earlier this week with severe head trauma of unknown origin. When he presented to us he was completely paralyzed, unresponsive, having seizures, and unable to control his bowels. We gave his owner a less than 20% chance of recovery. Specialist and emergency care were out of the budget but his owner refused to give up on him. We agreed to provide a few hours of supportive care. We placed an IV and urinary catheter, started him on steroids, pain medications, antibiotics and medication to help his brain swelling and crossed our fingers. We are pleased to report Mr. Otis is headed home 24 hours later. He is such a little fighter! Our miracle pup! Congrats little guy!
2017
Thank you so much for all the support you have given us in 2016! We can't wait to see how 2017 turns out!
Saturday morning kitten antics. Seriously can you think of a better way to start your weekend?
With all the hustle and bustle of being a busy vet clinic Kodak rarely ever rests. He's always following us around and making sure he doesn't miss a thing. He literally gets so tired he won't nap unless we "put him to bed." We have to pick him up and lay him in his bed, cover him with a blanket, and sing him to sleep. Too cute not to share (please excuse my singing voice.)
Snickers update! His owners never stepped up to claim him so he has become a clinic dog of sorts. He will be vaccinated, neutered and microchipped shortly.
Many people have asked about donations towards his medical bills. We happily donated our time but we welcome any donations towards his care. Thanks to everyone for following his journey! #GoSnickersGo #DogsofStapleton
I said I wouldn't flood Facebook with any more Snickers updates, but when I came in today he gave me a tail wag, jumped in my lap and gave me a kiss! Our first tail wag! #GoSnickersGo
Snickers watch day two! He's doing great! It is always amazing to me how resilient these little guys are! He's now ambulatory, eating and drinking. We pulled his urinary catheter since he's now peeing on his own, and will wean him off his IV and onto oral medication today. #GoSnickersGo
