Happy Memorial Day! 💙
Today we honor those who lost their lives while serving in the U.S. military. Because of their bravery, we are able to celebrate today with our family and friends.
As a reminder, our hospital will be open for the holiday, with our usual business hours.
Have a safe and enjoyable weekend with your pets!
Keep your pets safe this Memorial Day Weekend with these 5 tips! 🎉
⭐ Beat the heat by offering plenty of water and access to shady areas, especially during the hottest parts of the day.
⭐ Don’t let your pet eat fatty foods from the grill or toxic foods like grapes, alcohol, avocados, onions, or chocolate. Remember to quickly dispose of items your dog may be tempted to ingest like corn cobs, bones, and wooden skewers.
⭐ Keep pets away from fireworks and provide a safe, calm environment if your pets are sensitive to loud noises.
⭐ Always keep identification on your pets in case they escape your house or yard. If your pet is microchipped, make sure the information is up to date.
⭐ Never leave your pet unsupervised around pools, lakes, and other bodies of water. If taking your pet with you on a boat, use a floatation device. Also, try to keep your pet from drinking pool water, which can contain potentially harmful chemicals.
❤️ As a reminder, we are open 24/7 for emergencies.
“Luke” came in for not feeling good for a day or two and blood in his urine. We found some calculi in his urethra that were causing the problem. The experienced ER vets at NDVESH were able to retropulse the stones back into the bladder and remove them surgically.
Luke’s feeling much better today and says thank you! 😄

Dr. Ramirez, DABVP (C/F), Founding Fellow Emergency Practice, and Dr. Lee, DABVP (C/F) spent the week at the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners Symposium in New Orleans to stay current on cutting-edge medicine, certify veterinarians in RECOVER CPR, and recruit veterinary professionals to join the NDVESH team.
In May, we take a moment to focus on Animal Disaster Preparedness. Emergencies come in all forms, we find these tips from the ASPCA to be a great starting point for long-term preparedness. 🐈 🐶
Emergencies come in many forms, and they may require anything from a brief absence from your home to permanent evacuation. Each type of disaster requires different measures to keep your pets safe, so the best thing you can do for yourself and your pets is to be prepared.

It’s National Pet First Aid Awareness Month 🩹
With the warmer weather approaching, everyone is more likely to be out with their pets at parks, on vacations, and in new areas. Being prepared is important for your pet’s safety.
If you live with a cat, this is a very important warning for you. ⚠️ 🐱
Lilies are EXTREMELY toxic to cats. The leaves, petals, pollen grains, and even the water lilies sit in can cause your cat to develop fatal kidney failure in less than 3 days. Prompt veterinary attention is critical if ingestion occurs.
""Cat-proof"" your house and garden by choosing safer flower alternatives. Check out this full list of toxic and non-toxic plants from the ASPCA: https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants
If you suspect your cat has consumed lilies, contact us immediately 📱(469) 598-1944 .
You can also connect with the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435.
Our handy list contains plants that have been reported as having systemic effects on animals and/or intense effects on the gastrointestinal tract.
Of course we are going to take the opportunity to show our pets some extra love! Aren't we lucky those chose us to be their humans? 😍
