We will be serving pasta with homemade marinara sauce and homemade vegan “meatballs” (made with lentils!)

And we will serving up a delicious Penne Pasta Salad, with a fresh lemon pesto dressing, over blanched broccoli and cherry tomatoes, with spices!
Nut free (but apologies, not Gluten free).

Hi everybody - Free vegan food in Kingston is back on!
We are doing a special “soft opening” of something NEW: The Happy Cart (sans the cart) returns tomorrow (or today if you are seeing this on Wednesday 2/7/24)
We will once again be INDOORS at the Community Café at @peoplesplaceuc, where we will be serving a FULL vegan meal (entree, side and/or soup, and fruit).
Hopefully it will go well and we will do this just on the FIRST WEDNESDAY of each month! The little cart itself is resting for the cold weather months, but being in the café enables us to serve a full meal (made by Chef Linda of PP!) and keep everyone cozy.
Masks will be on hand to wear when you are not eating - we keep each other safe as possible during this latest covid wave.

Food is served in to go boxes with bamboo utensils, so you can eat in or take it home. There will be live jazz music & happy cozy vibes. Note: We appreciate people wearing masks in the space when not eating so we can support vulnerable community - thank you!
Dear friends - No Happy Cart today due to the rain and the cold. 😔 And please note, as this is a weather dependent program, we will rest it again until next Spring. We had a shorter season of food distribution this year (in no small part, because @instituteforanimalhappiness had a difficult relocation to get through) but despite that, we still are so happy that we were able to serve just shy of 800 meals in our 14 summer outings. The Happy Cart has served almost 3000 free vegan meals since our beginning in 2021, and we still feel we are growing and just beginning. Stay tuned for exciting messages about what we are planning ahead for 2024, and in the immediate meantime, stay tuned for the HAPPY HARVEST DINNER, year 3! Save the Date: November 14th, 2023 - we will once again gather community and serve a full home cooked comfort-food inspired vegan meal to share together and support each other.

HEAT ADVISORY: Dear community- the Happy Cart won’t be out today, sadly. The heat index will make it feel over 100° F in our spot in the parking lot. 😥 we care so much about our volunteers (most of whom happen to be over 60) and how heat can affect our well-being. Hello everybody!! Please note! The @happycartvegan has to cancel last minute today due to a gas leak in the area of People’s Place. All has shut off and fire department there… no cooking possible so I’m sorry to report we have to cancel today. Here’s a cute video of Percy @instituteforanimalhappiness doing zoomies as he acclimates to his little wheelchair, to just share something bright today.
