This 16th Century Book Can Be Read Six Different Ways

What a cool book!

What six books would you put in a volume like this?

http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2014/01/this-16th-century-book-can-be-read-six-different-ways/

Sure, the Amazon Kindle might have dynamic font adjustments, and it can hold thousands of books, but can it do this? Printed in the late 16th century this small book from the National Library of Sweden is an example of sixfold dos-à-dos binding, where six books are conjoined into a single pub

Thinking about doing a conference call based version of the book club. Anyone interested in that?

Reading anything great these days?

Spring feels like it might be arriving! What did you read this winter that is changing how you look at your horses this spring?

Al Khamsa, Inc.

My first training article was published in the most recent issuse of the Al Khamsa publication, Khamsat. What publication do you read on horses and training? http://alkhamsa.org/

Al Khamsa is a not-for-profit organization of enthusiasts, devoted to preserving the horse of Bedouin Arabia.

A Song for the Horse Nation - October 29, 2011 through January 7, 2013 - The National Museum of the.

http://www.nmai.si.edu/exhibitions/horsenation/ has been extended through Jan 2013. It is wonderful, I highly recommend it!

A Song for the Horse Nation presents the epic story of the horse's influence on American Indian tribes from the 1600s to the present. Drawing upon a treasure-trove of stunning historical objects-including ledger drawings, hoof ornaments, beaded bags, hide robes, paintings, and other objects-and new ...

Winter is here again, lots of books to read by the fire. Have you seen “The Legend of the Great Horse” trilogy? It is supposed to be about the history of horsemanship. I have added it to my list of things to read this winter.

08/23/2011

September 11 Second Sunday Seminar is free for everyone! Won't you join me?

07/29/2011

I had the opportunity to see "Buck" the documentary about Buck Brannaman. It was excellent! Have you seen it?

07/11/2011

Saddle Fitting was the topic of today's Second Sunday Seminar- Dynamic, 3 dimensional non-Euclidean geometry anyone? We had a great time and learned loads. Next month- Advanced First Aid.

http://www.sgtreckless.com/

Just read the most interesting story about a horse called Sgt. Reckless. You should check her out.

05/31/2011

I am entering the new era of books with my first e-book reader. What great works of equitation have you downloaded from the net? I am particularly interested in books in French if you know of any.

05/22/2011

Academic Equitation is still our read of choice this month. I am hoping the rain around her is going to slow down and I can ramp up the riding! Reading and reflecting are great and all, but I love riding best.

04/26/2011

Our next meeting is coming up, so dig out Academic Equitation and read along with us!

02/23/2011

Whoo Hoo! We are finally going to start Academic Equitation on Thursday. Finally!

02/15/2011

Book club is coming up, and the Second Sunday Seminar is just past. The SSS was well received and I am busy planning the next one!

02/06/2011

Since book club was snowed out in January, please join me at the Second Sunday Seminar next week!

01/29/2011

Darn you snow! 10 inches of the white stuff prevented up from beginning our discussion on Academic Equitation this month.

01/17/2011

Winter is an excellent time to catch up on some reading and get some new ideas for the return of good riding weather. Has anyone been following Dr. Deb Bennett's series in Eclectic Horseman? It is excellent.

01/10/2011

Brr... its Cold outside! What are you Curling up with this winter?

01/05/2011

We are back on for January, reading the next book, Academic Equitation. Should be exciting! And the Second Sunday Seminar is this weekend. Come on out!

12/19/2010

A great discussion on the spine and how it functions at the seminar. We had quite a few "mythbuster" moments as well, which are very satisfying. One of my favorite myths to bust is that only Arabians are found with one less vertebrae in the back.

12/10/2010

The conformation of the spine of the horse is a very interesting thing, and we are going to discuss it at the next Second Sunday Seminar. Join me!

11/29/2010

Oh the weather outside is frightful (well, not yet, but soon)... I received Phillipe Karl's new book from Amazon the other day, I am looking forward to reading it this winter. Do you have any special books set aside for winter reading?

10/31/2010

So- I mostly post little updates about the physical Read, Ride, Reflect, group plus some other little reading related musings I have. Is there something you would like me to do? Some service that you are just wishing I would provide?

10/29/2010

We had a fantastic clinic report at book club tonight from a member that distracted us from our discussion of DLG. But that is part of what makes R,R,R so much fun! We are going to continue with it at our next meeting and we are going to examine his section on bits with the help of a real horse. It should be very interesting.

10/22/2010

So, we are continuing with Ecole de Cavalry, we meet again next week. Now that the weather is turning colder it is getting time to order some books for winter reading. What's on your list? What would you recommend for mine?

10/11/2010

The Second Sunday Seminar went off without a hitch. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot. We talked about the conformation of the mouth which was especially interesting in light of Ecole de Cavalry's discussion on bits and the mouth.

10/05/2010

The First Second Sunday Seminar is coming up on Oct. 10. I hope to see you all there. Use the "verbal coupon" pink pony to save $5!

10/03/2010

Discussion on Ecole de Cavalry- is it in keeping with the author's statement that your relationship with the horse should be like a lover to say the horse only obeys from fear?

09/28/2010

A side effect of reading old books where the type face substitutes the letter "f" for the the letter "s" is that all the old masters have lisps in my head.

09/21/2010

So we are going to be starting Ecole de Cavalry next week. What do you think about it?

09/14/2010

I'm back! What did you read while I was gone? Anything good?

09/09/2010

Hey all- I am off to visit my parents, see you next week!

08/30/2010

The moment is here- we are reading Ecole De Cavalry by DLG in book club. I know they have been waiting for this for a while, but with the background they have achieved, I think they will really "get" what he is saying. I am sure we will be in it for several months, anyone want to read along with us?
