Well we are happy to report that beautiful little Huey & Louie are off to live their turtle lives out where they belong! They learned to swim and how to be buoyant, and how to hide from danger. This morning we set them next to the pond where their mother lives. As we were leaving mom popped her head out! Best wishes little guys 🐢🐢

Baby turtle update: all but two made it out of the nest. I have been checking every day and I was concerned about these two. I picked them up and was sure they were dead. No reaction or movement. I set them on the grass and eventually one blinked one eye and the other moved a leg slightly. Both were extremely weak.

I filled small water trough with a 1/2” of rain water and put a beach towel in center like an island. I propped the two turtles so their bodies were 1/2 in the water with their heads out so they would not drown. I Figured they deserved a chance.

Well happily after several hours they are both alert and able to move around and hold their heads above water! They are beginning to have appropriate reactions to movement - pulling their head into their shells. I put some lettuce and a spinach leaf on the island. We will see if “Huey” and “Louie” continue to improve 🤞

I know next to nothing about turtles so advice is welcome!
