Rebecca Vick Dressage Training

Rebecca Vick Dressage Training Rebecca is a Grand Prix Dressage rider and trainer and a USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medalist.

She worked extensively under Jim Koford as an assistant trainer for over 7 years, and was also a finalist in Robert Dover's Search for America's Next Equestrian Star, where she had the opportunity to work with many dressage "greats" such as Lisa Wilcox, Ashley Holzer, Tina Konyot, and Robert Dover and Katherine Bateson-Chandler. She continues to supplement her education by working with Koford, and

taking clinics with Conrad Schumacher, Anne Gribbons, and others, and loves passing these lessons along to students and horses of all stages of training. Rebecca is a true believer that dressage can make any horse better and more athletic.

Some clips from the Debbie Rodriguez clinic this week hosted by Volta Equestrian. Debbie's super sharp eye helped me get Willow in a much better balance with a quicker hind leg--great week of riding, learning, and meeting some fun new horse friends!

Estilo Santana and I had a great first show together at the Field and Fences Dressage Show this weekend. E can be a little enthusiastic and noise sensitive, and he's been out of the show ring for a while, so this weekend was all about making him feel confident in the ring. He debuted at 3rd level Test 3, and other than one spicy moment in his canter tour the first class, he was a super boy! He won both his classes with a 65.1% Saturday and a 66.8% today, and took home the 3rd Level High Score award, too :) I'm super proud of how far he's come even in just the past few months--he really did his best to trust me and let me ride him. Big thanks to E's owners Patty and Don for keeping the boy walked, fussed over, and full of plenty of reward sugar cubes, etc, all weekend!

Keeping Wills feeling good in her body is a full time balancing act (and couldn't happen without her mom, Dana, being super on top of having a great team of people making sure she's sound and healthy). It was a really nice surprise to get my USDF Yearbook and see that all the effort last year really paid off. Wills finished the 2020 season Champion 4th Level Open for RPSI, 17th in the nation for 4th Level Open, and 3rd place 4th Level Open at Region 2 Finals. And we got some great photos of the girl courtesy of John Borys Photography, too!

Estilo has been working hard on getting more consistent and through in his tempi changes and zigzag work. Still more to improve, but it's getting better every day! And E always thinks he's the best and has a good time--he's the cutest!

Hey friends, I'm currently starting to look for a fun project horse for an amateur. 16.3hh or under, 4-8 years, prefer a warmblood or warmblood cross, green horses are fine but needs to be quiet and fun, under 20k. If you have or know of anything, please message me :)

This little man has been with me for just under two months now, but he is picking up new skills so easily! Aiden is super fun to sit on and is looking for a new partner to help him strut his stuff and take on the pony world :) 8 yrs old, imported Danish Sport pony, schooling Third Level. šŸ˜„ He's a barn favorite. PM me for more details!

Y'all...THIS happened today!!! I have about 5,000 things to say about this little clip--but mostly that a little less than a year ago, Willow's owner Dana Peterson and I had a lot of real talks about this mare's future. As of late last fall, she still didn't have a reliably clean single change, and she was really struggling with understanding them. We even gave her a deadline. It would be the winter of the changes, and if by March she was still just not getting them, we'd move on, and find Wills something else she liked to do. We did SO MANY exercises all winter...and we slogged, and suffered, and struggle bussed our way around for MONTHS on end. And slowly, they got better. And better. And then, kind of more secure. And then, one day, kind of easy. And then the tempis started to happen. And today, we tried this. I'm so, so proud of this mare, and appreciative of everyone who keeps helping us during the slogging. So I'm posting because I'm really excited, but also as a reminder to myself that sometimes it takes SO SO much messy to get to the good stuff. But the good stuff is worth the work.

Willow was super today in 4th 1 at Lamplight and scored a 69.6%! So proud of how much more confident she's getting in the show ring. Huge thanks to Dana Peterson for being an incredibly supportive owner and friend, and for letting me show her lovely mare, James Koford for the coaching, and Katie Raducha for being the only reason Wills and I actually make it from the barn to warm up and from warm up to the ring! Also super fun to see so many top quality horses and riders here :)

Fun horse show weekend! got her qualifying scores for Regionals in the I-1, .k14 and Isadora came as a guest horse--Izzy got to practice her first off-property flying changes (yay!)--and Wills spent the weekend showing Fourth Level 3 for the first time. It definitely still feels like a "stretch" test, but she came home with blue and red ribbons, and scores of 65.8% and 63.7%. So proud of her progress in the ring! Karin snapped this great action shot of her extended trot in the test today :)

Rebecca Vick and Jennifer Newland's Don Decorus Kai (Donnie) had a very successful weekend at March Magic in Williamston, NC. They posted a huge 77.6 at Training 3, 73.9 at First 2 on Saturday in the pouring rain. They went on to post 68.96 in First 1, and 73.06 in Training 2 on a cold and windy Sunday. A great start to the show season!

For Sale: Pepperwood Swarovski, "Starski", 2010 medium pony mare, 13.1 and will be an easy measure for permanent card. Starski is a homebred pony (Dutch Warmblood Stallion Staccato out of a Welsh mare Baytree Mayday). She is already solid w/t/c and small jumps. Starski has plenty of step for the division and will be a great short stirrup or Children's pony as well. She has a great jump and an extremely kind nature. She has proven to be very brave and calm off the farm.

For Sale: Gouke - Fancy, Imported Friesian

Gouke is an imported Friesian gelding with presence and movement to spare. He has shown First Level successfully with scores in the high 60s, and is schooling 2nd level and beginning half pass, along with showing an incredible aptitude for piaffe and passage. Gouke is a blast to ride and a pleasure in the barn. He goes well in a snaffle or double bridle and hacks out. He has lots of personality and is a real people pleaser. Beautiful, expressive movement and talent to move on.

We had a great time at the Pinehurst Fall Dressage show last weekend! Took our less experienced boys Laureates and Pepperwood Donatelli (better known as Belle and Brown), and they followed in their stablemates giant hoofprints, winning or placing second in every class entered, and posting the highest scores of the year so far. Laureates made his First Level debut, scoring a 68% and a 75%, and Pepperwood Donatelli's best tests of the weekend scored a 76% and a 77.7%! So proud of how honest both of these boys were in the ring. Allison Hackett-Dorn and Jennifer Newland also made the trip down to Pinehurst and competed with us, and they both finished up getting their qualifying scores, managed some personal bests, and occasionally rode really well and kept their cool during adversity. Big thanks to Martie Healy and Sue Smithson for hosting another great weekend!
