Hi, I'm Lizzie! I'm a beautiful gray and black tabby with striking markings. Although I'm new to SPARC, I've already made a few friends here. I can be a bit nervous at first, but I'm learning to trust the staff, and treat time is quickly becoming my favorite part of the day. I absolutely adore having my chin rubbed-it's the best!

I'm looking for my forever home where I can be the only cat, so I can give all my love and attention to my owner. I promise to love you even more than you love me! Stop by SPARC and ask for Lizzie. Come meet me and see if we're a perfect match.

We'd like to take a moment to fondly remember former SPARC employee Cody Gangl who heroically battled cancer for most of his adult life.
He had such love for the dogs he cared for at SPARC and his own babies.
Our condolences to his family and to ours here at SPARC.

These durable, versatile toys offer endless hours of entertainment and mental stimulation for dogs of all sizes and energy levels. They’re perfect for filling with treats, peanut butter, or even freezing to provide a cool, long-lasting challenge on hot days.
But we’re running low on these essential toys, and the need is greater than ever. With more animals in our care, the demand for enrichment tools like KONGs has grown. We’re asking for donations of new black KONG toys to help us keep our animals happy, engaged, and healthy while they await their forever homes.

I came to SPARC after living on the streets, so many things here are new to me-like having regular food, tasty treats, and the gentle touch of a human. Here at SPARC, I'm learning what it's like to live a wonderful life indoors and how it feels to have a constant human companion. I might be a bit nervous, but please come meet me, and let's learn to trust together. You'll find me, Misty, the beautiful tabby in the kitten room!

UPDATE for MARVIN, the 18 year-old Chihuahua/Dachsund mix!

We have good news and not so good news.

Marvin had to go into our medical clinic, yesterday, as he has a cough, which is now being treated with medication, so we would hope for a full recovery, shortly.

The great news is that Marvin has an adopter, who will be taking him home in a few days, once he's cleared by medical!

We want to thank the hundreds of people who viewed, commented and prayed for Marvin! It's wonderful to know that so many people care about this senior sweetie and your support is much appreciated!

SPARC does have several other senior dogs (not as old as Marvin) needing forever, loving homes, so if you're a senior-lover, Cinnamon, Hazel, Jax, Ladybird and Marla are waiting for you at our shelter! You can see them all on our website at: https://santapaulaarc.org/adoption/

DID YOU KNOW that SPARC is a strictly NO KILL Shelter?

Unlike most other municipal shelters, we believe that EVERY ANIMAL deserves their second chance at life, no matter how old, sick, disabled or injured! We provide necessary medical care and enrichment to keep animals happy and healthy while they're with us and our goal is to find every single one their very own loving, forever home! (The only time an animal is euthanized is if a veterinarian declares that they are irremediably suffering and cannot be saved.)

In order to provide the care the animals need, we must rely on the generosity of people just like YOU, to help by donating to the dogs, cats and critters arriving at SPARC.

The City of Santa Paula gives SPARC less than 11% of our overall annual costs and we spend $1.5 million every year, caring for the stray and abandoned animals of our City!

In 2003, SPARC took in 700 kittens and a few very committed, compassionate and amazing FOSTER moms & dads, gave them the care they needed until they turned 8 weeks-old , were spayed & neutered and were up for adoption! Can you imagine in our small City -700 kittens!!!! At most shelters, unweaned kittens never get a chance at life!

We also received 715 dogs and 317 adult cats for a total of 1767 animals in 2023!

NO 18 YEAR-OLD DOG SHOULD FIND HIMSELF IN A SHELTER!

Every day is precious for 18 year-old, "Marvin!" He sleeps most of the time, but he does like to watch (or listen to) all of the crazy antics of the little dogs from the safety of his X-Pen, when he is awake!

Can you imagine the anguish of finding himself in a shelter after all of these years? Will you help Marvin to find the best, kindest, lovingest foster/adoption home, so he can be at peace and remember what being someone's special boy feels like!
