It is with a heavy heart and mind that I have decided to bow out of the rescue game. Life has come at me fast recently and I really need to focus on my family and myself for awhile. I have been so absolutely blessed to be trusted with so many loved pets and will continue to check on my adoptees and would love to continue to receive updates.

I'll be donating much of the supplies that have been graciously donated to me to others who intend to pick up the torch in my absence. So if you have an emergency, please reach out on my personal page, Chelsie Hartley

At this time I will not be accepting any surrenders. In the future I hope to continue to take on Hermit crabs, my OG gig. Where I started, my rescue roots. 😆

I so greatly appreciate the MASSIVE support I have received in the last 3 years. My rescue efforts were only made possible by my community. I hope you guys continue to help where it's needed.

Silver, the 2 year old funeral goldfish that lived in a 5gal his entire life, got an upgrade from his 30gal studio apartment to a Shiney new 55gal with his 3 little buddies.
He says "So much more room for activities!" 😆♥️

It's a day of upgrades. Nubz moved into a 75gal tote for portability and Velveeta finally got her 50gal mansion and she is loving it.

I have 3 very tiny little hermit crabs that would get absolutely lost in the large tank I'm setting up so I set this up for them today. Normally front opening tanks are not great for hermit crabs because you don't have much space for substrate but these guys are TINY. I think they will enjoy this much more than the 10gal they were living in.

This one has been a few months in the making. My neighbor had 2 female geckos cohabitated and when she learned how dangerous that could be she asked if I could take one on. Life got in the way over and over again but here we are. This is a quarantine set up, she will get better digs in a couple weeks.(:

My last rescue bettas have/are going to their forever homes. These fish were reserved long ago but are just now being able to be adopted. I have loved caring for all the beautiful fish that have come through my care, but it's just too much heart ache for me. I'll be stepping away from betta rescue for the foreseeable future. If you have an emergency, I'm here for you. I have partners that can help too.
I appreciate all of the help and love I've received on this journey with bettas. The massive amount of donations I've received to help others has been the make or break for this. Trust that I have paid that forward ten fold.

Goldfish are still within my scope though, and I have many adopters that can take other species of fish.

Little winter boy needs a home! Winter is a Campbell's dwarf hamster and needs a home that will give him a spacious bin to call his own with lots of toys and love.

These 2 babies need an experienced home with a mansion for them to live in. Alice on the left is a little mouthy but still sweet. Theodore on the right is very very cuddly. Both born in January of 2019. They are located in Sahuarita but can be transported to tucson. Will come with some supplies. Show me your cage and I'll make the arrangements.

Today's intakes bring us a young female ball python, 2 robo dwarf hamsters, and a little teeny blue frog.

Only currently looking for a home for the white male robo dwarf hamster. He does not come with enclosure, will need to prove you have 40gal tank or plastic bin set up correctly for a hamster.

Its been a seriously busy 3 weeks for me, 2 vacations less than a week in between. But the rescue life doesn't stop. So here are some of the last 3 weeks adoptees and surrenders(:

Nova the Blue tongue skink and Venus aka Butterball the ball python went to their new forever home.
Nagini the red tail boa also moved onto live with someone well equipped for large species snakes.
Dexter the crested gecko went to his new home

The last little male mouse has been adopted and is waiting for pick up.

Added to the zoo was a little spicy male albino Honduran milk snake.
And today brings us a lone little hermit crab named Miss Kerbit.(:

My bearded dragon Romeo, my gargoyle gecko peanut, and my crested gecko Butter all went to stay with a friend for the last week that I was gone. O so appreciate having people I can rely on to care for my zoo while I'm gone.

The wheel never stops spinning.(:

Shout out to my mom for assisting in both caring for my zoo while I'm out of town, and now setting up for and receiving a surrender without me being there.

This is temporary set-up as this was an emergency surrender.

It's the week of wild birds, apparently. Mom found an egg intact on the ground so we are doing our best to incubate. And today I was contacted about a baby quail in rough condition found abandoned on a side walk last night. So again doing our best. We once raised a wild dove from infancy to adulthood and it was an amazing and rewarding experience. He was completely domesticated but that was okay with us.
Baby quail don't thrive in captivity, so the odds are stacked against this one but we will give it a fighting chance.

When it rains, it pours. Woke up today to find sweet Charlotte my jumping spider had passed. They have such short life spans, about a year, and again I had no idea how old she was when she came to me. She was a grown adult, and I've had her for almost 6 months. She's been slow, not eating, and sticking close to the ground the last week so I suspected the time was coming. 💔

Sad day at the zoo. Our resident skink, Hot Dog, passed unexpectedly. Hot Dog was a Peter's Banded Skink and as of right now there are few to no successful captive breeding projects so nearly every PBS in the pet trade is wild caught. This can mean questionable health, potential parasites, shortened life span.. This is the risk reptile keepers take when deciding to keep a wild caught species. It's the reason I've decided to not purchase any wild caught species myself. (including hermit crabs!)

Sometimes when I take in a rescue they come with little to no info on their history including age or how they were cared for or where they came from. This was the case for Hot Dog so I knew going into it that I wouldn't be able to predict the outcome of his life.
Still, I am so happy I was able to own one of these guys, and hope I'll get an opportunity in the future. We will miss this guy so much. RIP bud.

I've had alot going on this week so I haven't gotten around to posting about adoptions but this week 3 hermit crabs, 3 male mice, 2 gerbils, and 2 betta fish all went to their new forever homes!

New baby, Super Nova aka "Nova". She's a 2.5 year old Indonesian Halmahera Blue Tongue Skink. I am SO excited.
Not adoptable.

3 new intakes yesterday. The blue guy has fin rot so he will be treated before he is available for adoption. The pink female I am unsure about the cause of her fin damage so I will be monitoring her. And the orange boy is just skinny. None of these fish are up for adoption at the moment, but I will take a reservation for the blue boy. The status of the other 2 are TBD.
I have others available though!
