Just some more work with Rue this morning. Her and Stel have come a long way this week, as a team they’ve ticked every box. We tested Rue a bit more today with the presence of an unfamiliar dog. Out bright and early this morning with Tu the Rotty and his dad, Mike. We’ve been working on getting Tu to a point where he is less reactive with dogs he sees behind fences while on his walks. Typical of me, I don’t have any footage of him reacting to the dogs that he would see, when we first started his training. A big part of the reason why Tu was as reactive as he was, was because of his inability to loose leash walk on a lead that was standard length. So we have been giving him a bit more freedom of movement to decide where he is in space and time when he’s confronted with situations like this one, and allowing him to problem solve a bit better. Good boy Tu.

Han, Loco, Bob and I would like to take a moment to thank all of our wonderful clients and their pawesome pals for being part of the AWDP family this year - you guys are like Christmas presents every day. Not just the type of presents you look at and go “Oh great - another hand held sponge to wash Dad’s car - exactly what someone else wanted me to have!” But rather the presents that make you go “Holy Wah! I can’t wait to torment my brother with this battery powered nerf gun - he’s gonna cry for sure!” We apologise in advance if we aren’t as contactable over this period. We’re just enjoying our holidays but we will get back to any enquiries as soon as we can. Helping Handsome Harry Overcome His Fear

Just like the title says. This situation is a little bit like the movie “Goodwill Hunting” - I’m obviously Robin Williams and Harry obviously Matt Damon. Although in this version of a modern classic, Harry is neither a janitor at a famous university or a mathematics prodigy, and we don’t live in Boston. Everything else is just as heartwarming and memorable. Here are some snippets of some of the stuff Harry and I did today. We’ve been working hard together to build his confidence whilst walking his neighbourhood on leash. He’s come a long, long way and I’m very proud of him. I hope he’s proud of me. Also, I often paint my pants on when my normal ones are dirty - today was one of those days.

I was training with Kristina and Heidi this morning when a man called Jim stopped and asked me the question that every puppy owner in the history of puppies asks - “how do I get my dog to stop biting or nipping my hands/legs/feet etc”. I told Jim I’d head back to his house after I had finished with Kris and Heidi. Here’s a little three minute example of a good way to go about getting your dog to stop that unwanted biting behaviour, and show them a more appropriate behaviour that makes it easier and more enjoyable to interact with them. Jim was very appreciative and gave me a coke which quenched my thirst. So Friday is going very well. Cheers

“Fido Won’t Fetch Properly”

Allow me to chew your ears off a little more about why some dogs aren’t that stoked to play fetch with you. Also, full disclosure - my dad is and always has been a legend and he used to kick the football with my brother and I (Harry tried his best to take part and we just told him he was “doing a great job”). I enjoy taking the p.ss, and Dad and Harry both understand it’s a joke and that they need to work harder for my affection. Thanks.

My Dog Won’t Retrieve Properly

“My dog won’t bring the **(insert whatever it is you throw for your dog here)** back after they’ve retrieved it.” Interesting. Let me talk your ear off about it.

Pretty decent Friday on the tools. We had Heidi and Christina working on some confidence building exercises at our favourite park, continuation of Delta’s environmental socialisation and conditioning and just her general cuteness, Jett putting his nose to work, and working on some on-leash impulse control with handsome Harry.
