» Pull you down the street on walks?
» Ignore commands?
» Embarrass you by not coming when called?
» Jump all over you and your guests when you get home?
» Dig holes in the yard? Gold Coast Dog Trainer Emma will be able to turn your naughty dog into a nice dog! Emma is

dedicated to helping you enhance your relationship with your dog, whether that be through training or walking your dog. By using clear communication and good leadership you can have the dog you have always dreamed of…. a dog so obedient you are complimented at the dog park or beach ! There is no such thing as ‘an old dog can’t learn new tricks’ or a ‘stupid dog’. Sometimes it’s just a matter of understanding and communication. Your dog is always trying to understand you and the reasons why you do the things you do. Your dog is constantly trying to figure you out. Dogs are not vindictive, when your dog digs up the yard or trashes your house whilst you were out, the dog certainly did not do it as revenge for leaving it, or to get back at you. Whilst dogs do share human emotions such as happiness, sadness, love and fear. However, dogs and people think very differently. Gold Coast dog trainer Emma knows how to “speak dog” and she want to help you to bridge that gap! Emma understands that every dog and its owner are different, have different needs and learn at a different pace Thus she can tailor a training programme that is suited to you and your dog, addressing the issues that you are concerned about (not a “one size fits all” approach). You will be given a homework sheet that covers what you have been taught in each session with a quick recap of ‘how to’. You will have unlimited help and support for the life of your dog*.

*regarding what has been covered in training. Emma can also offer training for cats ! She can teach cats to sit, drop, hi-five, play dead & come when called. Cats are much more difficult to train than dogs and results cannot be guaranteed for every cat. Your cat will be assessed and an honest opinion given as to whether it has the potential to be trained.

Everyone meet Jack. Prince of the puppy dog eyes!

Jack started training with Sharron this week in our private lesson puppy program.

He will be immersed in learning words, hand signals, a whole bunch of commands & some structure & boundaries to help him navigate our human world.

This program will include taking those skills outside too while Sharron attends his home address on a weekly basis.

Will keep you posted on progress.

Isn’t he just the cutest!?😍

As the colder weather is here you might find your once hot, lethargic doggo seems to be playing up a little bit more & it’s time to brush up on the training. Our busiest time of year!

We have availability for our private lesson programs at the moment if you would like to book in.

I get a lot of working breed dogs, obviously due to my background in police dogs. But, its no secret I LOVE the little dogs too…!

So I think it’s time for my Cavoodle Club! And we know how much Cavoodles just love other Cavoodles.

I’m so excited that I have free’d up some time in my diary 😀😀

I will be offering a service where I pick up your Cavoodle, take them to the park, beach or any one of our many beautiful reserves for a fun, obedience focused run, play, swim, train, some tricks & all just Cavoodles!

We then head to one of our local dog friendly cafes to support a small business & sit down with mates for a pupachino & environmental training.

Sounds like heaven doesn’t it?! 🥰

I have very limited space on this so get in quick!

Send an email to [email protected] for more info & to secure a place.

I can’t wait!

Today at this session we will mostly be getting muddy!

Off lead work at the park, recall training, all the usual sits/drops/stays. Playing with a ball.

Environmental training - saying hi to people & their dogs, but not falling into that trap of letting the dogs have so much fun with each other - that they don’t listen to the humans.

Getting in & out the car.

Ball drive, food drive, work for pats only.

Some tricks & a paddle in the water.

This is what I consider walking the dog…..

Dog training is a lifestyle, it’s all the stuff you repetitively practice….that makes perfect…..

How does your dogs walk look?

Happy Mother’s Day to all the fur mummy’s out there 💖

Being fur mummy to my guys for almost 15 years were the best days of my life.

That was just 15 summers. And I was lucky.

Blink & it’s gone.

If you take a dog into your home, you owe it to them to fill their lives with adventures, peace & love.

One thing I can truely say is, I have absolutely no regrets about anything with my dogs. We lived a full, amazing life, right to the end.

It’s been almost 2 years since I lost them…and some days just hurt that little bit more.

Super lucky that today, I have Dave keeping me busy & get to love him. (We are both knackered!) 💕

Sunday Funday. On the agenda today….

Agility, off leash recall, getting used to doggos, pats from strangers, used to prams, not worrying about banging bin lids, in & out the car, cafe visit, catch up with friends, street walks close to cars plus more!

Just one day in the life of one of our training days ☺️

Sharron & her Mouse ❤️

Little mouse has been an absolute super star. She came from a rescue & was so lucky to be adopted by Sharron & John.

Mouse often helps out Sharron teach the dogs in her private lessons. She’s a well balanced, happy, confident, easy going, relaxed example to our clients dogs. And the perfect dog to be around - energy is contagious right?

So much so, for dogs.

Mouse has helped frightened, timid dogs learn to come out of their shell & play.

She’s been the calm example around the hyper dogs.

She comes back when called & the others follow.

Do you make sure your dog is around a variety of dogs with different traits?

Are some older & calm?

Are you only putting your dog in the company of rowdy, young dogs?

We are the product of the people we surround ourselves with & it’s no different for your dog.

Chose your pack wisely ☺️

Orlando’s turn for his first Bunnings outing with his gorgeous mummy 😍

He got to experience trolleys, escalators, different noises, different sights, different smells & took it all in his stride.

Remi & Orlando had another private lesson this week with Sharron.
Remi’s first trip to Bunnings went super smoothly with her performing the perfect sit-stay in the trolley & as a reward she got her first pupachino!
Living out on acreage it’s incredibly important these guys are exposed to as much of our outside human world as possible to ensure they turn out to be happy, easy going & confident dogs.
Orlando’s now shaking with his paw for food & got to play in his new ball pond….all adding to variety which will keep these high drive dogs occupied & working their minds.

Burleigh walk with the boys this morning was heaven. I didn’t realise how much I missed living here until I moved back 😭

The ocean is so so blue & have you heard about the baby hammerhead sharks just offshore? How good is where we live!?

Next week I will be figuring out my diary for the next 3 months which means my books are open again ☺️

We are looking for a pawsome superstar to take centre stage!

Do you own a small dog such as Charles? Are they able to go off lead? Are they calm, confident around distractions & come when called?

Can your pup go to a ‘place’ command or ‘in your bed’ from a bit of a distance?

If so & you & pup are interested in getting involved in a little community theatre project - please post a pic & a little bit about your pup.

We would live to hear from you!

Plus playing ball, retrieving, chase (us, we never chase dogs to run away) and a paddle in the water.

Gracie’s been with us a while now & she’s such a pleasure to take out anywhere & has so much freedom because she practices this stuff regularly. Stress free with miss gracie!

Who doesn’t love a black lab!?

Meet Loki! As his name suggests, he lives up to that mischievous nature & just needs some work to slow down that overly enthusiastic zest for everything & everyone……so he has better manners going into adulthood, listens & can be more manageable for mum & dad!

& who have actually already done an awesome job with Loki & his commands (we just had a couple of sessions when he was a pup) have booked him in for some additional training because they are awesome pooch parents.

Welcome back beautiful Loki, Emma already loves you & perhaps you might not go home……just kidding 🤣😍

If you have a problematic dog….

Take a look at your dog…

What breed do you have?

How old are they?

Now jump on Google.

Insert your dogs breed & write ‘originally bred to do’ after…..

How similar did your dogs day, week, month, year look to what you found written?

11/11/2022

Sharron & detector dog Renee.

Did you know that a dogs sense of smell is approximately 45 times stronger than the average human?

To put that in perspective, if you were to drop a teaspoon of sugar into 2 Olympic sized pools, your dog is able to smell & pinpoint it.

Dogs noses are so sophisticated that they are able to compartmentalise a number of different scents all in the same place.

Back when the British army trained explosive detection dogs they would imprint all the different explosives, C4, Cemtex, cordtex on a dog at the same time. We learnt that the explo with the lesser scent pattern wasn’t as strongly imprinted tho which is why we then started training a new scent individually & for a solid week to maintain accuracy. It’s kind of important when your looking for bombs….

So when you go to the dog park, a totally unnatural environment for a dog (enclosed space, 4 million dogs have already been there, dog p**p, dog wee, human scent tramped into the ground over & over & over) and your dog walks around with its head to the ground sniffing…..it’s completely over stimulating.

(Think kids & adults who can’t get off their mobiles these days)

This is why I always discourage this, nose down, sniff sniff sniff. And I always keep moving at the dog park, finding the ones with the least people, dogs & most open space to explore.

If your dog walks around constantly sniffing I can guarantee you have a dog that doesn’t come, is over stimulated & pulls you everywhere on the lead.

09/11/2022

Everyone always commented on how well behaved my dogs were.

I brought them up in Hertfordshire, a county just north of londin where I owned a modest 3 bedroom town house with an average sized back yard.

First thing in the morning I would let the dogs out for a quick toilet, have a cup of tea, then put on my wellies (because it was always raining & muddy there) & put them all in the police can & drive us down to this place. On this occasion we were lucky to have thick snow & threw snow balls for the dogs which they loved to chase & Cody would catch 🤣

It was a huge open area, 3 big lakes you could walk around, woods & trails.

I would walk around with the dogs stopping to say hello to other people & their dogs, occasionally if I knew them well we would let the dogs have a brief play. Then we would be off, exploring, I never let the dogs run too far ahead, I regularly called them back to me. I occasionally put them back on the lead if they ignored me, and I took 3 balls or toys to play with them with.

Then I would do it all over again after work.

Working breeds need to run, explore, practice lead walking, play with you.

How similar does your day look to this with your working dog?

I’m seeing so many working breed dogs being sent to me for board & train (literally the last 3 years it’s been one after the other) suffering from frustration, boredom, lack of adequate exercise, anxiety…..and all they really need is for you to provide them with what their genetics were born for…..

Not doing so is sending them mad. It’s so sad. I’m seriously considering cutting training working breeds from my board & train program.

Before you get a dog especially a working dog, take a look at your lifestyle & consider if you have the time & energy for this - because if not you WILL have a problematic dog.

I hope my dogs are up there somewhere running through the woods & not confined to someone’s back yard while they wait for me.

This little boy knows his sit, drop, stay so we are going to work on building on those foundations, really scrub up on getting him to do stuff first time willingly & progress on from what he already knows

Even his head tilt is already quite advanced 🤣

Henry’s off golfing on the buggy.

He’s building his bond with his owners, learning they are the best thing since sliced bread. He’s learning that good things come from them & being rewarded with pats & treats when he’s a good boy.

He’s building confidence in different places, with different sights, sounds, smells, people, surfaces.

He’s practicing to sit still, to come when called in all these places too.

Training doesn’t stop in the house when they your dog is old enough to go outside. All this stuff becomes even more important to continue to practice & build on.
