Do you own a pet rabbit? Is it vaccinated?
Rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) is a virus that typically causes a rapidly fatal disease in rabbits. There are two types of RHDV present in Australia (RHDV1 and RHDV2). RHDV1 has been used as a biological control agent to reduce the feral rabbit population in Australia since 1996 (the K5 RHDV1 strain was introduced in 2017). RHDV2 was first detected in 2015 in Australia. It is currently the strain causing most of the deaths in domestic rabbits.
Filavac VHD K C + V is an inactivated bivalent vaccine for rabbits against RHDV (Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus) types 1 and 2.
It’s a once a year vaccination.
To book your rabbit in for this vaccination please call us on (02) 9452 1066

Chocolate is a big no-no for our pets. While we enjoy its rich, sweet taste, it contains ingredients our dogs and cats can’t metabolise. If they sneak a bite, it can be harmful and potentially fatal for them. Familiarise yourself with the signs of chocolate poisoning and what to do if you suspect ...
This Kookaburra was brought in to us today. We are doing our best to help him and get him back to the wild.

Kitten Vaccinations
Just like us humans, it's important for cats to get vaccinated to protect them from certain diseases. The F3 vaccine provides protection against the following three viruses. This is referred to as a ‘core vaccine’ in Australia.
* Feline Panleukopenia Virus
* Feline Herpes Virus
* Feline Calicivirus
Their vaccination schedule starts from just 6 -8 weeks old and it's important to keep up with the recommended schedule for kittens, as this will help ensure they're properly protected from diseases such as feline distemper (panleukopenia), feline viral rhinotracheitis (feline herpes virus 1), and calicivirus.

This week we welcomed Dr Clara Wornell to the FFVH team.
Clara was born and raised in the UK, completing her veterinary degree at the Royal Veterinary College of London. She worked for just over two years in first opinion small animal practice at two busy hospitals in the UK before making the move to Australia and joining the French’s Forest team.
Clara enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice, in particular surgery, emergency work and end of life care.
Seeking a change in lifestyle from the UK, Clara will be making the most of the beaches Australia has to offer. Surfing, running, swimming and surf lifesaving will be what you can find her doing outside of work, as well as exploring other parts of the country.
Leptospirosis vaccination can be given with your dog’s annual vaccinations and check-up or can also be given on its own. Dogs starting their vaccination course are given two injections 2 – 4 weeks apart.
