Did you know every dog should be muzzle trained?

Regardless of breed or nature every dog should have the skill to wear a muzzle and not be worried by it

Muzzles can be used for lots of reasons such as:
- preventing scavenging
- preventing nipping during play
- to prevent redirection with reactive dogs
- vet and groomer visits
- to prevent a high prey drive dog from catching any animals
- law

While your dog may be absolutely perfect and the most harmless dog in the world they should still be comfortable wearing a muzzle. Why? You never know when you may need one.
A dog in pain is a dog that may bite. Practice with muzzles in advance so the day you do need one, it’s not an additional stress 🐕

Doing a little bit of nothing

In the way we live with our dogs now, and the way they are raised, dogs no longer learn how to be bored. Humans are at home, walks are from A to B, and there’s always a chew ready at the pub. As a result there seems to be so many cases of dogs who are desperate to be busy

There’s a lot of value to sitting and doing a whole heap of nothing. As much as I love training and I love natural chews, I also love dogs who can cope when we want to just stop and sit. Learning to be calm is a life skill and one that seems to be regularly overlooked.

So maybe when you’re out next, stop. Take a seat and take in the environment. See how long it takes for your dog to settle on their own. And then see how it improves the more you do it 🐾
