Beware of scam!

We have been made aware of a telephone scam whereby a scammer will contact owners pretending to be from a vets who have treated their dog after going missing and asking for payment before you can get your pet back. If you ever get a phone call like this after reporting a missing pet please hang up and contact your vet directly to check if this is legitimate.

Antibiotics are essential when treating many conditions in animals and people, but bacteria are becoming resistant to many antibiotics that we use in human and veterinary medicine.
Using antibiotics when not needed increases the risk of antibiotic resistance and can lead to side effects or delay an accurate diagnosis.
It is also really important to know that inappropriate disposal of unused antibiotics could contribute to antimicrobial resistance. It can also pollute the environment by entering water systems or being consumed by wildlife.
Antibiotic resistance is a global health issue, and we need your help to keep antibiotics working.
That is why we are taking part in the Antibiotic Amnesty 2023.

Throughout November 2023 we are asking pet owners to return
any unused or leftover antibiotic medications to us for safe disposal.
Please drop off any unused medications to the practice. You can hand them in to a vet, nurse or the reception team. This medication might be left-over from a recent prescription, antibiotics that you
didn’t need or out-of-date medication.
Let’s keep antibiotics working, together!

‼️NEW PRESCRIPTION LAWS‼️

On 1st September 2023, our regulator, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, made changes to the way we provide your veterinary care and prescribe products for your pet.

Vets can legally only prescribe some prescription medicines, including antibiotics and some medicines that treat parasites (like fleas and worms) if they have physically examined your pet.

These changes are beyond our control and have been put in place to fight drug resistance and to protect the environment.

Please bear with us while we put new systems in place to help minimise the effect these changes will have on you 🐾❤️

Meet Tay ✨🐾

Tay visited us because she had eaten a sock! 🐶🧦

Thanks to Tays owners quick thinking we where able to x-ray Tay and see that her stomach was large and she had a lot of gas build up too 🩻👩🏼‍⚕️

Tay was then admitted for an exploratory laparotomy surgery where our vet Ruth was able to remove the sock and avoid further damage to Tays stomach 🩺

We are so happy to report that Tay has recovered well from her surgery and is back to her normal self again 🫶🏼❤️

Ticks can pose a threat to your pets health. Here are some preventative tips to keep them safe and protected 🐾✨

If you find a tick on your pet we can remove them at the practice for you or using a tick remover you can do this at home- ensure to remove the whole tick including the head!👩🏼‍⚕️

✨Meet Barney!! 🐈‍⬛❤️✨

Barney visited us after his owners reported him having some coughing episodes.

Our vet Ruth admitted him for further investigations and after being sedated a large blade of grass was removed from the back of his throat! 😱

He recovered from his sedation and got lots of cuddles and ear scratches from the nursing team 💕

Grass seed and grass blade injuries can happen when grass is eaten or when the foxtail seeds get trapped in fur and pierce the skin! 🐾
Check your pets feet and ears and monitor for any new behaviours such as Barney’s new cough!!

We are so glad to report that Barney is doing so much better and is back to his normal self! ❤️🎉👏🏻
