ATTENTION ALL DOG OWNERS - CANINE FIRST AID COURSE - SATURDAY 14 SEPTEMBER 2024 AT ARKENSTALL CENTRE, HADDENHAM, CAMBS CB6 3XD

Yvonne Mackender and Mary Burnside of Progressing Partnerships are hosting this wonderful practical Canine First Aid Course which is being run by Jan Carrick Whiffin of The Paw-Works.

If you own a dog, then you need to attend this very worthwhile course - Canine First Aid. It is being run at the Arkenstall Village Centre. Haddenham, Ely, Cambs, CB6 3XD on Saturday 14th September 2024 from 10am to 3pm.

This course is suitable for pet owners, pet professionals and breeders. We cover assessing your casualty, CPR, Vital signs, Burns & scalds, poisoning, bleeding, shock, heatstroke, bites & stings, choking & drowning, seizures, head & eye injuries and so much more.

Please be mindful of your dog! Did you know it takes up to 4 weeks for your dog to adjust to sudden changes in the weather?
☀️ Walk early in the morning or late evening.
☀️ Leave your dog home during the day.
☀️ If the ground is too hot to put your hand on, don't expect your dog to walk on it.
☀️ Do not leave your dog in your car.
☀️ No dog ever died from missing a walk.

Do you want to do more with your dog?

Here at Progressing Partnerships Dog Training and Behaviour Centre we are relaunching our Rally O sessions.

These sessions develop a really strong bond between dog and handler whilst improving the dogs desire to be close to you, their focus on and engagement with you and great for disengagement from the environment (all great skills to improve loose leadwalking, recall and chase struggles).

Come along to our 2 hour workshop on Saturday 8th June at 11.30am to find out more. The cost of the workshop is just £20.

Classes are then £15 per session, reduced to £12.50 per session if you book 4 or more sessions at the same time. Sessions are held on a Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. You control your bookings and come when you can, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, some Saturdays, some Sundays, we are totally flexible.

Are you ready to Rally?

Rally O is an obedience based sport where a dog and handler team navigate a course and performs an exercise at each station.

This sport is great for improving loose leadwalking skills, focus and engagement on the handler, and disengagement from the environment.

Come and learn the rules of Rally O and have a go at some of the stations at our introductory workshop on Saturday 8th June at 11.30am. The cost of this 2 hour workshop is £20

If you decide this is the sport for you, we will be holding weekly classes which you can attend weekly, fortnightly or monthly (pay as you go) and learning will be supported by our online school on Teachable.

Progressing Partnerships is collaborating with Ben's Yard and offering group social walks around the Ben's Yards trails on the first Monday of every month starting Monday 5th February 2024.

Dogs must be on a lead throughout so the walks remain safe for all. If you have a dog that needs space, please let Yvonne know before getting your dog out of the car to guarantee the best experience for your pet.

No need to pre book, just meet us outside the cafe at 10am. After the walk you can practice your dog's settle in the outside seating area while you enjoy a hot drink and chat with like minded dog owners

This is so true.

If a growl is left unpunished your dog will express himself with a growl and not need to resort to a bite.

Never punish a growl, or even barred teeth (although you should reminstrate yourself for pushing him beyond a growl).

Allow your dog to say NO in a socially acceptable way.

On Friday we hosted the lovely Sally Talbot from Happy Hounds Adventures for our Sniffmas Quiz and Bingo.

First handler and dog teams were split into two teams. Team Elf was Captained by Mary Burnside and Team Rudolph was Captained by Yvonne Mackender. Each team member had to search for clues for the team to answer by performing 2 feet on, 4 feet on or get in.
Team Rudolph won by just one point.

A short break to judge the fancy dress and consume hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies was followed by a game of sniffmas bingo.

A great, fun time was had by all and we wish to thank Sally for her time and wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year
