Cracker’s recall is improving massively…….
Remember though if your dog is too far away and has zero focus on you calling them may achieve nothing !!
start small distances and distractions and work big always use a longline until your confident your dog will come back.
*EXCUSE THE LANGUAGE 🙈
This video is proof that the saying
“IGNORE UNWANTED BEHAVIOUR” really works.
This dog is not injured just attention seeking and doesn’t want to go home.
You will see how when I approach him he gives the side eye and loves the attention he is receiving from me only rewarding this behaviour , I find this annoying when time isn’t on our side although cute and funny, any acknowledgement only encourages him, now from his other dog walker (nanna) he gets fuss a “what’s up baby” and a pat this is only again rewarding this, but when we turn and continue our walk, he eventually he gives up.
So REWARD THE GOOD AND IGNORE THE UNWANTED BEHAVIOUR
(Don’t mistake this with correcting bad behaviour though)
Dogs like humans don’t all learn the same way we have to apply different techniques and methods it’s a little bit of trial and error.
but don’t think because the first method you have used didn’t work that your failing. YOU ARE NOT, you are learning.
What does work with all dog training I do believe is practice, patience and perseverance .
The boys wait game, It’s getting stronger even if I have neglected training for a little while slowly but surely we are getting there . 💪🙌🏼
Happy 10th birthday to this beautiful chocolatey goodness Lilly. Today we celebrated on our walk with a sausage party 🎉 😂
Two labs and soon to be a little lady 💗
Our walks are never boring, we practice some leash work, one on one basic obedience, ball play, scent work and free time to be a typical crazy dog.
If you can’t always walk your dog for the recommended time, adding obedience and stimulation like this will tire your dog out both mentally and physically.
Well exercised mind and body dog is a well behaved dog 🙏🏽
Gypsy Mastered her down in less than 30 seconds 🙌🏼
All clear here ….. next spot 😂
Look at that BOUNCE 😍 4 months old.
…
for a nice tight heel, close Luring with rewards 🙌🏼
Positive proximity teaching Fentley good things happen when he’s close to Dad in this case CHEESE 🧀
Does your dog walk consist of the same boring path around the same boring block remember you can switch it up a little this morning I had the boys sit & stay hid the ball out of sight for them to go and find.
Extra stimulation, means extra mental and physical exercise= tired, calm relaxed dogs at home 🙌🏼
Cracker enjoyed the beach with QCS boys 🥰
